In 1996, eight C-130's rolled out of the Lockheed Martin factory and sent to the Minnesota Air National Guard. Since then, the 133rd MXG has been maintaining these aircraft throughout its service life. Only one to date has reached 10,000 flying hours while deployed to Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait on February 10, 2020. Jet 96-10003 hit this mark after completing tours to Oman, Bagram, Kuwait and other operations since 2002.

Juni 2023 schlug der tschechische Präsident Petr Pavel im veröffentlichten Interview des US-finanzierten Senders „Radio Freies Europa“ (RFE) in Prag vor, im Westen lebende Russen zu überwachen: „Sie sind Bürger einer Nation, die einen aggressiven Krieg führt“(1), sagte der frühere NATO-General. Die Ausland-Russen könnten einem leid tun, so der in transatlantischer Wolle gefärbte Präsident. Aber das sei schlicht der „Preis des Krieges“, den Russland seit mehr als 15 Monaten gegen die Ukraine führt. Als Beispiel erinnerte Pavel an die Überwachung japanisch-stämmiger Amerikaner in den USA während des Zweiten Weltkriegs. Der ehemalige Karriere-Soldat Petr Pavel - er war 2012 mit 51 Jahren bereits Drei-Sterne-General - besaß bis zur Wende das Parteibuch der Kommunisten und nahm dann seine Chancen in der NATO wahr. Von 1995 bis 1996 besuchte er die Generalstabsakademie für Offiziere der britischen Armee in Camberley und 2005 das Royal College of Defence Studies in London. Von 1999 bis 2002 war er Verbindungsoffizier im Hauptquartier für die NATO-Streitkräfte Mitteleuropa (AFCENT) sowie Stellvertreter des Befehlshabers des aus AFCENT hervor gegangenen Regionalkommandos AFNORTH. Anschließend bekleidete er bis 2018 das Amt des Vorsitzenden des Militärausschusses der NATO.
