YES!! we are back! 2 things to start: 1) in the intro I say Josh trains in Sidney, BC... no idea why that came out of my mouth, it is SURREY! and 2) my audio equipment was damaged going to Vancouver so theirs a few audio issues.. I talk about it in the opening of the podcast. BUT ANYWAY - the conversation is still AWESOME! I got to sit down, introduce my self and talk shop with the one of the best kickboxers to ever get in the ring from this beautiful country of ours (Canada), Mr. Josh Jauncey! as you hear in this podcast, Josh has spent A LOT of time as a youngster in Holland training under and beside kickboxing legend Andy Souwer as well as taking BIG fights there at early stages of his professional career at the same time. Josh also breaks down some of his time sharing the violent side of ring with not just the best kickboxers in the world but actually THE BEST OF ALL TIME! We also chat about what it is to be a REAL champion as well as his almost 20 fights under the Glory Kickboxing organization. ABONNEER op NandoLeaks als je op hoogte wilt blijven ! https://bit.ly/3DxOc0o Tayfun Ozcan:  Deze week is zevenvoudig Enfusion kickboks kampioen Tayfun Ozcan te gast bij Real Talk met Fernando om te praten over het succes van zijn carrière, armoede en opgroeien met verslaving en verwaarlozing.  Ik wil niet terug naar mijn verleden  Ondanks het winnen van vele wedstrijden en kampioenschappen geeft Tayfun aan dat hij trots is, maar nog niet is waar hij wil zijn. Hij vindt zichzelf pas de beste wanneer hij Petrosyan heeft verslagen. Buiten de ring geeft hij aan een heel rustig persoon te zijn: “Als ik bloed zie word ik al misselijk.” Maar in de ring komt hij in kill modus.  Zijn motivatie: “Ik kom van de bodem. Ik wil niet terug naar mijn verleden. Daar vecht ik tegen. “  Slapeloze nachten  De jeugd van Tayfun was niet makkelijk. “Ik begon onder de nul.” Als kind uit een gezin van negen personen, een oververmoeide moeder en een vader met meerdere verslavingen, groeide Tayfun op met een slechte basis. Er was zelden geld voor eten en geen geld voor sport. Hij schaamde zich wanneer hij als kind publiekelijk werd aangesproken dat de contributie niet was betaald. Hij vertelt dat zij 's nachts niet konden slapen, door de verslaving van hun vader. Er kwamen dan veel vreemde mensen over de vloer, er was lawaai en soms was iedereen ineens weg en stonden alle deuren open. Nog steeds heeft hij de gewoonte om rond 5:00 uur wakker te schieten en te controleren of alles op slot is. Inmiddels is zijn vader op eigen kracht na vijfentwintig jaar verslaving clean. Tayfun zegt: “Ik ben dankbaar dat ik dit heb meegemaakt, omdat ik mijn huidige leven nu extra kan waarderen.”  Ongekende liefde  Ondanks deze achtergrond ervoor heeft gezorgd dat hij moeilijk mensen toe laat, heeft hij het geluk in de liefde gevonden. Inmiddels is hij gelukkig getrouwd. Hij vertelt dat zij hem geeft wat hij nooit heeft gekend. Zij is de ontspanning wanneer hij thuiskomt. “Mijn moeder was uitgeput, dus liefde kenden wij niet. Mijn moeder had geen tijd om liefde te geven.”  Haatberichten en de beste lessen  Tayfun heeft van jongs af aan een sterke focus gehad voor kickboksen. Hij had altijd veel bewondering voor Andy Souwer en was dan ook verheugd om tegen hem te mogen vechten. Deze partij heeft Tayfun gewonnen. Hij vertelt: “Voor deze partij was ik het meest gemotiveerd. Ik was zo zenuwachtig dat ik de nacht ervoor niet kon slapen.” Ook vertelt hij over de partijen tegen Mohammed Jaraya en dat hij in deze tijd veel haat berichten kreeg door deze rivaliteit. Buiten de ring zijn deze twee kickboksers op goede voet met elkaar. Tayfun geeft zelfs aan dat deze partijen de beste lessen uit zijn leven zijn geweest. Volgens hem zit er zeker nog een partij aan te komen. “Dan ga ik hem weer kapot slaan!”  Voorlopig aan de top  Over de toekomst geeft hij aan dat hij niet bezig is met een carrière na kickboksen. Omdat kickboksen zijn passie is en hij zich hier extreem voor inzet, is hij nooit bezig geweest met een andere focus. Als vechter behaalde Mannaart grote successen namens Mejiro en trainde hij samen met legendarische vechters als Rob Kaman, Lucien Carbin en Fred Royers. Later nam hij Mejiro over van oprichter Jan Plas en was hij als trainer betrokken bij successen van kampioenen als Peter Aerts, Remy Bonjasky, Andy Souwer en z'n oude trainingspartner Kaman. Erik van der Wal (00:08) is een van de drijfveren achter Budo Academy Physical. Hij is trainer, coach en goede vriend van Leon Jansen en sinds enige tijd traint hij ook "Fight Queen" Isis Verbeek. We hebben het natuurlijk over het Covid-19 probleem en wat voor ellende dat met zich mee brengt voor sportschoolhouders. Daarin is hij heel duidelijk en verteld hij een hele hechte sportschool te hebben waarbij iedereen meer dan bereid is om de contributie te betalen. We spreken over Leon Jansen's carrière en wanneer die weer in staat is om de kooi te betreden en ook spreken we Erik over zijn nieuwe grondpupil Isis Verbeek.
