Hello again fighty friends!April 5 I was had the opportunity to go commentate in our National capital for the Capital Punishment promotion which is organized by retired (maybe...) professional fighter and now coach, Mr. Ben Pride of Westside Muay Thai in Ottawa, Ontario. I have known Ben ever since June, 2014 when he fought a former fighter of mine on Journey Fight Series (shout out to team Smandych! we miss JFS!!!) in an 8-man tournament, and I have been following Ben ever since! We have a chat about his event - Capital Punishment and what his motivation is to host a fight event, of course we talk about some of the key match ups that went down including the main event for the Muay Thai Canada national title. I ask Ben where and when he found Muay Thai, Ben tells us about some of his adventures in Thailand, why Westside Muay Thai has such a reputation for clinch fighters and - IS BEN LOOKING AT COMING BACK FOR ANOTHER TILT?! - you'll have to listen to the podcast I guess!!!of course I hit Ben with a top 3 question and he cheated with his 1 shout out allowed! haha.ANOTHER example of "knowing" someone for a longtime, but really connecting through the podcast and finding out more about the people driving the Canadian Muay Thai scene forward for all of us. MAN, I am grateful for this lil hobby of mine - SHOUT OUT TO YOU BEN!

Hello again fighty friends!I'm back ONCE AGAIN, with Rob from Turkey and Pistols out in Bragg Creek! as discussed at nauseum on the podcast - Rob was a BIG driving force behind this podcast from the logo, the website and simply just a person whose opinion I trust and someone who I simply enjoy being around. Although we definitely talk fights, fight movies, the scene around Alberta, etc. we also chat about growth and goals both in our business's in Calgary and Bragg Creek as well as martial arts training - and how they connect. It's rare I do a podcast without an agenda, but I genuinely like sitting with my friend Rob and shootin' the breeze about what we have going on in life, and honestly - I sometimes need that in my own life! no agenda, no topics, let's just grab a cold one and have a chat. LOVE IT!I don't need a reason to visit Bragg Creek, but Rob at Turkey and Pistols is a good one! SHOUT OUT TO YOU ROB!- go check out his awesome little shop in the heart of Bragg Creek, TELL'M THE BEST FIGHTPODCAST IN CANADA SENT YA!

** STUFF STILL HAPPENS EVEN 120+ EPISODES IN - for whatever reason, the file uploaded to a different format and my mic turned to computer audio 6 mins in. I apologize - stuff still does what it wants sometimes and I am tasked to figured it out.. BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER! - because it's only my mic that acts silly, TJ is the same from start to finish. and ultimately it's him we are here to listen too : ) **Hello again Fighty Friends!Today we take a break from the punch and kick, but still a MASSIVE topic in the fight world - WEIGH INS!I got to chat with the Wizard of the weight cut, the Sorcerer of the scale, the lunch before punch professional - Coach TJ Whelan! TJ has worked with the some the top fighters on the planet (Nico Carrillo and Jake Peacock to name a few) make sure they beat the 1st fight (scale) not just but lbs, but how to do it optimally for combat. We discuss how he juggles so many clients world wide, how to prepare yourself before the weight cut starts, and how close to fight time he is still involved with food and hydration. This is definitely not a field of the fight world I have insight on, but theirs no fight if you can't make weight and we all know how important a proper weight cut means in todays fight world - so I was happy to have TJ on and dive into the fight beyond the punch and kick. Got learnt today a bit! lots of information from a guy who knowns this side of the fight game better than most! SHOUT OUT TO YOU TJ!!
Hello again fight friends! This podcast I got to sit and chat with friend of the show, Road to One winner and now, One Championship fighter CODY JEROME!on Podcast 119 - I gave my thoughts on what I saw in Cody's debut to the promotion, from the walk to getting knocked down to the unfortunate finish. Well - Cody listened and contacted me saying he was happy to come on and share exactly how it wentI said "it looks like it couldn't have gone worse for him" - well, after hearing Cody break down the weight cut situation - IT GOT A HELLUVA LOT WORSE! Cody talks about his weight cut/hydration issue that almost had him pull out of the fight and how serious it became for him, why it took a situation like this to finally move up in weight, the difficulty of training without a fight and of course - the fight itself.I would imagine this is still very raw for Cody - so MAD RESPECT for coming on the show and addressing this publicly! I did ask Cody "so what went right for this camp and leading into the fight?" Cody couldn't think of anything, and sometimes that's how it goes in the combat sport world...I truly thank Cody for his time on the podcast and talking about his debut to One Championship and the things that went wrong and how he's going to make right! I'm a big fan of Cody and the people at PFA in Lethbridge and will root for them regardless of the promotion, opposition or result. If you want raw insight into the highs and lows of competing at the elite level - this episode is a MUST LISTEN!SHOUT OUT TO YOU CODY!PS - we get an unexpected, live visit from a friend of the show!

Ram is a fighter, coach, councilor, father and husband JUST TO NAME A FEW! I all of a sudden saw Ram on Instagram at everyone's gym, training fighters, training himself and Chop City all over the place! since then I have commentated his fights, we were the commentary team at the MTWC and now BANGER of a podcast!Of course we talk about fights of his, his WBC Canada title win and fights he's been in the corner for. But, Ram also dedicates a large portion of his life (and very much his passion from what I gathered from this podcast) to helping at risk youth which I for sure wanted to know more about, and how Martial Arts helps with his counseling, as well as how does working with at risk youth help him as a martial artists. This was a talk about fighting, no doubt. But really this was a talk about life! and the struggles and fights we have with ourselves inside and out of the ring. I am very grateful for this conversation and Ram's time, you can hear his passion and compassion in his voice and clear passion for life. what a brilliant conversation - Shout out to you Ram!"YOU DON'T WALK AWAY FROM MANDRA!!"
Hello again Fighty Friends, Happy February! This is my second time doing a podcast with Mr. Adrian Shead, I went out to Vancouver 2 years ago and did 3 podcasts and Adrian's was the one and only podcast I have never been able to recover, but since that time - a LOT has happened so it was a fresh podcast all over again and I was just as excited to talk to him. Adrian tells us about his time in the British military before becoming a full time trainer in Thailand for 16 years, making the calculated move to Canada to keep coaching which in turn, eventually opening up his own facility - MUAY THAI ACADEMY in Vancouver, we also talk about the MASSIVE year for his fighter Petch coming off of a historic Glory tournament win, and I ask Adrian "Is Saenchai the GOAT?" and he gives his definitive answer! I try to keep the podcasts to 1 hr, but selfishly i wanted to chat for 3 more! this amount of coaching, training, traveling, and being part of the biggest and best events with the biggest and best of Muaythai and kickboxing that Adrian has experienced is damn near UNMATCHED! - i guess this gives us an excuse for another one in the future! what a great chat with a genuine, down to earth fella - he always makes you feel like a friend. SHOUT OUT TO YOU ADRIAN!

Although I was already going to the CSA coaches clinic in 2019, when I saw Coach McGriff was a headlining coach there, I WAS STOKED, and he did not disappoint! Today we get to talk about what it's like working at the Mayweather Boxing Club, his Journey to Thailand and what it was like working with a STRONG stable of fighters, making a working and active gym in his yard over cov!d, and what it was like guiding world champions to battle like Teofimo Lopez and Devin Haney! - of course we hit Coach with a few top 3 questions which were FIRE To say I was excited for this is an UNDERSTATMENT! I first saw Mukai fight in 2007 (which we discuss) and have been following ever since! coming off the last podcast with main event fighter of the event Dylan Stone, I thought it would be a good idea to chat with the man himself steering the ship for the event. Now we are into November, that means the Muay Thai World Cup is only weeks away and yours truly will be ringside bringing the action to the fight fans from the safe side of the ropes. BEFORE WE GET THERE - I was up at an event in Sherwood Park hosted by Arashi-Do Martial Arts, which is the home of WBC current and former Canadian champions Tim Lo and Derek Jolivette as well as WBC LHW contender Jerry Liu. ALSO, the podcast with Tim and Derek is called "2 champs 1 gym" (I wonder where I got that title....WINK!) but their's another champ out of ADMA Sherwood Park, and that's 2x, back to back IFMA jr WORLD CHAMPION Kobe Carr! with these guys all in 1 room at the same time as me, I decided to being up my gear and make these guys feel guilty and convince them to have a chat with me! Today I got to sit down and talk shop with host of the Wellness Dojo Podcast in Calgary, the wellness ninja himself - Kyle Craik! Kyle is a long time traditional Kung-Fu practitioner and as I was/am a long time traditional karate practitioner, we often saw each other compete and coach and open style martial arts tournaments, but as is the theme of this show - another guy I've known for decades but never sat down to chat with till today. It was refreshing talking the traditional aspects of martial arts including what a "dojo" means, the life lessons and growth that come with training martial arts and coaching 4 year old to 400 year old students. This was a great chat about MARTIAL ARTS and not just punch and kick, it was definitely a little awesome reminder of my martial arts beginning, to go back chatting about my roots as a martial artist, great conversation - SHOUT OUT TO YOU KYLE! I hope you enjoy the podcast!

I am always looking to learn beyond the punch and the kick and I got exactly that out of this conversation. I had a great chat with a great guy - SHOUT OUT TO YOU VLAD! make sure you come out on September 22 to watch the BEST AMATUER BOXERS IN THIS COUNTRY on the WBC CUP event!

I admit this is new territory for me and you can tell because I'm a bit of a bumbling sausage in this one..... I had so many thoughts and questions along with being genuinely drawn in by TJ story, I kept having marble mouth haha. I am greatful for this opportunity to sit and chat with TJ! I never thought I'd be doing a podcast like this, but I REALLY do see a need for this, and I am happy to help how I can. TJ you are an ambitious and inspiring man and I think the work you are doing is BEYOND needed and important - SHOUT OUT TO YOU TJ!

WE ARE BACK FIGHT FRIENDS! welcome to another episode of the MIGHTY Shout Out Podcast! WHAT AN EPISODE - once in a while, the politics of the Canadian fight scene enter the chat on the podcast *WHICH IS GOOD! THINGS DONT CHANGE IF WE AREN'T WILLING TO TALK ABOUT THEM* but the reality is, pretty much all of us are only guessing about what happens behind the curtain - at least speaking for myself anyway, and it's been 30 years for me on scene! WELL NOT TODAY - I got to sit and chat with the President of Muay Thai Canada for 18 years, Mr. Robin Finley! I admit I was nervous because, well, POLITICS! but I really enjoyed Robin's down to earth chat, his realism and openness about some questions I've always had including - How is the IFMA team decided? why do we need commissions? and even the differences between organizations in Canada and how do we level up as a country? Robin made it very easy and comfortable to ask questions I've always had (and I'm sure others too) along with simply sitting down and talking shop. you can tell I was a little reserved asking questions until I was comfortable, well I thank Robin for making me feel like I can ask! What a great chat with a great guy! thank you for coming on the podcast and answer what i think of as some kinda sticky questions along with good conversation - I really do appreciate it and look forward to it again! SHOUT OUT TO YOU ROBIN!

Welcome Back to the MIGHTY SHOUT OUT PODCAST! The Muay Thai World Cup finals on Novmeber 25th had the night end in a little confusion, some might even say controversy in the final bout for the One Championship contract in the 155lbs division. Earlier this week we heard from Daniel Kechego - the runner up of this tournament and he gave us his recollection of what happened inside the ring. I was lucky enough to be contacted by the referee of this bout the same day, Mr. Jason Jillain who expressed interest in coming on the podcast and explaining his position as well and why he felt that fight needed to be stopped. I am greatful that the SHOUT OUT PODCAST can help get the answers to the questions we all had the night including myself, especially fresh off of the event itself. Along with being an official, Jason is a former WMC champion and DECADES long muay thai practitioner. So I took the opportunity to learn about how Jason found martial arts, where on the planet he's fought and what it's like seeing one, but TWO NEW GENERATIONS of fighters growing up. I appreciate both of these guys willing to discuss this so openly to the public on the podcast - I'd love to have them both on again but maybe under different circumstances next time. Thanks for coming on and explaining your view, SHOUT OUT TO YOU JASON!

Welcome back fight fans to the MIGHTY Shout Out Fight Podcast. OH BOY! We are just days away from the biggest night to happen in Canadian Muay Thai - the Muay Thai World Cup Road To One Championship Finals! It's going to be a night to remember! It's been a while since I've been able to sit and talk shop with the boss, so I also wanted to know his opinion on some other things like why did Rodtang get denied entry to Canada? Who's his pick go Nong-O vs Nico Carrillo and what he thought of the Fury/Ngannou tilt. MAKE SURE YOU BUY A TICKET AND THAN YOU CAN SAY YOU WERE PART OF MAKING CANADIAN MUAY THAI HISTORY!
