Hello Fight Friends! If you are a fan of the podcast, you know I am a fan of Sumo wresting! I first got into it when I was on the couch, recovering from knee surgery and I was instantly hooked!!Sumofest is having their first event March 13 & 14 in Calgary which is their only stop, lucky me I am in Calgary and I am absolutely going!! Susan from the Calgary Japanese Community Association who is one of the organizers was kind enough to join me today and discuss not just the Sumo that is happening, but the event itself including information booths, food and an opportunity to experience Japanese culture and some traditions. I ask Susan some questions I am sure we all have like how does an event like this come to fruition? who's idea was this to try something so different for Calgary? is this something we can expect so to see in Calgary again? and of course - THE SIZE OF THE WRESTLERS!!! I will be going on Friday the 13th (scary) - Come join me and help support Sumofest! I personally think bringing something like this is to Calgary is awesome AND ambitious! let's support them and show them that they have the support of the Calgary combat sports community !SHOUT OUT TO YOU SUSAN!!!

Hello Again Fight Fam!This week on the podcast I got to have a chat with multi time Canadian National Muay Thai champion from Alberta Tyson Green! Tyson isn't just a multi sport athlete, but a ALL SPORTS athlete with a thirst for competition - but as fighters know, their's no high like winning a fight! which had Tyson naturally gravitate to combat sports. I have known Tyson for 12-15 years if not 20, I have seen him both win big fights and loose big fights, so with these things I combined - i was really looking forward to this podcast!I personally call Tyson "The Modern Day Samurai" - he has never said no to a fight, nobody gets his respect in the ring - it will have to be earned, and he's coming to fight, PERIOD! I gotta tell ya - along with that fight style comes a similar podcast syle! Tyson held no punches and mixed no words when it came to this chat. We break down his INSANE barnburner with Cody Jerome, we talk about growth through fighting, life after fighting, we talk about some of the frustrations around growing the sport in Alberta and of course we talk about the "I WANT TO THANK ME!" speech which I personally loved and explain why.Very few people on this podcast shoot from the hip like Tyson! I admit their's a few times I didn't even know how to respond haha. This man is a warrior through and through, mix that with some charisma and a lil frustration and you have a helluva podcast! SHOUT OUT TO YOU TYSON!!

Hello Fighty Friends!Stepping away from chatting with people on the dangerous side of the ropes, BUT JUST BARELY! we are talking to fight photographer Jen Ball from The Social Collective YYC! Jen has been into photography for almost 20 years doing various projects like weddings and family photos - but not so long ago, found a real passion and expertise working the camera on fight night!! I personally can say that I noticed the quality of not just the pictures themselves, BUT THE MOMENT IN THE PHOTO that Jen does an awesome job capturing. Of course we chat about how she got started on fight photography, but also why you need to look beyond the "action shot" to really capture a story. We chat bout her favorite fighters to capture photos of, what event is what she feels is her A+ night, how easy/hard it was to break into the scene, AND AND AND - if you are a fighter or a gym, how important is it to have consistent, professional photos and video to build and push your brand? it's cool to chat with someone who shares the same passion of the moment on fight night, but with a totally different story to tell of the evening. I learned something this podcast! it was awesome! SHOUT OUT TO YOU JEN!

Hello Again Fight Fam!Although this is the second podcast of 2026 - it is the first one recorded of the year! and what a way to start, talking to 2x WBC Canadian champion, Kate Clements out of PFA in Lethbridge!Kate just came off a big win and an absolute SLOBBER KNOCKER of a title fight at the MTWC in November, winning her 2nd WBC title and letting the crowd know it is time to call it a fight career. I personally have watched Kate fight, cornered against her and commentated her fights for YEARS! so it was a cool, full circle moment for me when I got to share her announcement centre ring - boy does it make me feel OOOOLD!! haha, sorta.....Kate breaks down round by round her title win vs Sahez and the game plan going into it. We discuss when she knew the time was coming to close the chapter on fighting, what's next now she's done competing herself, coaching the next generation, helping lift and be part of growing the female fight scene in Alberta and why things like ladies only sparring/training needs to be talked about, needs to be done and why it is important.Another great chat with a great fighter from the Great White North! congratulations on your career and I look forward to seeing what's next for you! WELCOME TO 2026 PODCAST FRIENDS!** again.... I am still trying to fix my audio issues, it's driving me NUTS!! but immediately after this podcast, I spent 3 hours getting to the bottom of it. since using a new program I have been having issues, BUT I AM CONFIDENT THAT IS NO LONGER - in this case it was a blessing in disguise as the echo in the first minute goes away once the audio frigged up.. I just ask for a lil patients. ON TO THE PODCASTToday I got to bring in the New Year with world Muay Thai champion, international coach & gym owner, Mr Eddie Farrell from Australia. If you follow Muay Thai on instagram - their's a good chance you know who Eddie is! Eddie has travelled all over the world fighting all styles of combat including Muay Thai, Lethwei, Kun Khmer and Karate Combat to name a few. Eddie and his family have lived the Muay Thai lifestyle fighting, training, coaching around the world including Australia (home), Thailand and Mexico. But recently has decided it time to plant roots again at home in Australia where he is building a new gym as I write this! We talk about how Eddie decided to around the world, the quick pivot needed when cov!d struck, the difficulty they had running a gym in Mexico and why it was time to go "home". Eddie also talks about having a few fights left in him before hanging up the gloves and getting set to close that chapter on his life. As this has been a popular topic on the podcast, it was refreshing to hear a fighter's fighter talk about it logically and from what it sounds like - being truly comfortable and ready to leave it behind him when it's time. I totally admit, Eddie is a big, scary, stoic looking fella - i wanted to ask him for a while now but was nervous. I grew a pair over the holidays to ask him, and Eddie was gracious enough to give me his time on New Years Day at 6:30am. DEFINITELY A STORY A LOT OF US WANTED TO HEAR! - I had a ton of requests to get Eddie on and we were able to make it happen.SHOUT OUT TO YOU EDDIE!!

Hello fight friends!again..... I am having my audio cut out at the beginning of the podcast, I apologize for this. I am someone who likes quality, so I admit it makes my ears bleed - but it's not that bad, please bare with me while I get this figured out. ALSO - please note in the podcast, we are not talking down to or about Canadian Muay Thai or its officals WHAT SO EVER, but I can be honest about where we need to improve WHICH FOR SURE WE HAVE LIKE CRAZY POST COVID! and I know provinces are going through changes and their's growing pains and learning curves that come with that, I FIRMLY believe we are doing the right things for us as a country to grow correctly and be able to compete even more on the world stage. I am part of this community, I love it and I want to see it thrive! - but I don't often get to speak to people of Kieran Walsh's calibre with a view from the other side of the world of what Canada "looks like" - so I want to know and I want to be honest about it. if anything, I feel bad for putting Kieran on the spot! haha and to quote friend of the show Mr. Robin Finley "keep asking the tough questions!"

Hello Fight Friends!Today I get to chat with a man MADE for combat, Karate Combat contender Alexander Krutskykh! -- BEFORE WE START - I don't know what happened, but my Audio shut off 1 min in, so I sound like the guest today haha, oh well, we roll on anyway! I have seen Alex online with his social media, I have seen him fight live on Karate Combat, I met him at the Anuwat Kaewsamrit at my gym - so I figured, "let's chat to him now and get a podcast going!" and here we are! Alex is originally from the Ukraine, so naturally I wanted to know #1 what was it like moving to Canada from so far away, and #2 - Ukraine is well known for it's excellence in combat sports, what was it like going from combat sports every weekend to having to go find competition in Canada. OF COURSE I was very curious about his new home for violence, Karate Combat - but Alex tells an AWESOME story about how he had his 1 shot to prove his worth to the President of Karate Combat, and the conclusion of that "try out", AND having to go an extra round in a fight with a plan to win and propose to his girlfriend at the end of that tilt with gear still on, in front of the whole crowd - WHAT PRESSURE!! hahaSome people are teachers, some people are cooks. And some people are simply born for combat - Alex is one of those warriors! it was awesome to hear his journey from Ukraine to Canada and his climb from boxing, Muay Thai BJJ and karate to one of the most entertaining combat promotions out there - Karate Combat! GREAT CHAT WITH A HUMBLE WARRIOR - SHOUT OUT TO YOU ALEX!!

Hello Fighty Friends - HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Today on the podcast, we have Canadian/Serbian - who lives/trains in Thailand - who's joining us from Dubai at the moment - Mr, Stefan Dronjak! Stefan became the talk of the Muay Thai town a while ago when his picture/video went viral where he was cut on the head in a fight on the RWS, AND HIS ENTIRE BODY WAS RED WITH HIS OWN BLOOD, AND STILL HAD A SMILE ON HIS FACE LIKE HE WAS CHRISTIAN BALE FROM AMERICAN PSYCHO!! - now, maybe that's not the way you want to be known/recognized, But if that's how people START to recognize you and that recognition lends to some more/better opportunities along with being a little better known - GOOD! and it sounds like Stefan is gabbing that opportunity with both hands! This was a unique podcast if I must say - for the most part, I've talked to Canadians who spent a little time in Thailand, or people in Thailand who are from abroad. But I don't get to talk to people who are Canadian, fighting on the Thailand scene and don't know much about the Canadian scene. So, I think Stefan has a one-of-a-kind perspective on this, so I asked him about his thoughts on the Canadian scene from his point of view?We also talk how he found Muay Thai and MAS Thaiboxing and his loyalty to the gym and trainer/mentor Chris Kew, why he felt he needed to leave Canada and pursue Muay Thai in Thailand, what it's like training at the legendary Kaewsamrit under some of the best trainers and fighters on the planet. and of course, his NON STOP itchy knuckles and a rule set he'd LOVE to try out! (HINT: 4 oz)Such an easy guy to talk with who loves life just as much as he loves Muay Thai... AND GETTING AFTER IT! Shout Out to you Stefan! glad we were able to make this happen!

In saying that, I absolutely noticed the Puu'u Muay Thai Podcast was definitely that podcast/content creator that I needed to take note! after a few comments and DM's - HERE WE ARE! a Muay Thai podcast on a Muay Thai podcast!!! Seeing as Jonathan and myself hold similar "titles" (Muay Thai men, gym owners, podcasters, fight coach, etc) this was a super easy and flowing conversation. Usually it feels like an interview - which is awesome, but sometimes it's nice to let your hair down a bit (or what I have left..) and just talk shop.We discuss how Jonathan found Muay Thai and did almost everything to keep the fighter lifestyle including ACTUALLY SELLING HIS BLOOD! NO JOKE! to teaching several locations at once, till it was time to open Puu'u Muay Thai. We also talk about the MANY things Jonathan does to not just be involved in Muay Thai, but to be a driving force in pushing and growing Muay Thai in the USA. We discuss the difficultly of running a gym and having to pivot daily during the cov!d era, the rise of the good and bad "content influencers" and of course - DOING A MUAY THAI PODCAST!A great talk with a fella who walks the walk. This was such an easy conversation we didn't talk fights - GREAT!! - because the leaves us to do another pod chatting about my favourite topic - FIGHTS!! SHOUT OUT TO YOU JONATHAN!

Hello again Fighty Friends!MAN, LET ME TELL YOU - I have been chasing this podcast FOR MONTHS! I am unbelievably grateful for the opportunity to speak with one of the worlds best fighters on the planet and a real champion of champions - Mr. Daniel Rodriguez!Daniel - training out of Superbon training camp, is the current and defending Rajadamnern 154lbs champion and 2x RWS tournament winner with wins over TIP OF THE SPEAR fighters of Muay Thai including Yodwicha, Rittiwada and Thananchai to name a few. Daniel's popularity absolutely TOOK OFF with the announcement of the newly formed RWS tournament, where he got to showcase his ability and skills against the best fighters in the world at his weight class, while the Muaythai world watched something new happening (the RWS format) which started in 2022. his championship run in the tournaments, title fights and simply beating the best fighters at his weight since the start of his RWS take over has me ranking Daniel as the #1 foreign in the world with a record of 48-1, his 1 loss being to legend Yodwicha who he beat twice prior. We chat about his upcoming fight with another MONSTER of Muay Thai and champion, Petchmorakot for Daniels Raja title. we get into the 3 fights he had with the ICONIC Yodwicha and the switching of game plans for each encounter. I really like Dani's pressure style of fighting ESPECIALLY his jab, cross set up - so we spend a few minutes breaking down his style of fighting from his own point of view. and I ask a TON of questions including a bunch or rapid fire/ "This or that" having a little fun. I am obsessed with getting in to the minds of fighters, I want to know how they tick, what are they chasing in the fight life, what were they thinking during this moment, how did they feel just before/after battle, what did you take away from 1 fight going into a rematch - the game plan of battle is what I love about Muaythai. So I took my opportunity to ask away!let me be real - I NEVER thought I would get an opportunity to chat with Daniel about Muay Thai, especially right now while he's really in the Muaythai spotlight worldwide. I really am thankful for Daniel taking time out of his day to speak with lil' ol' me in Canada about his life and to be honest, I was so excited and so nervous for this. So I hope you enjoy the podcast as much as i did!SHOUT OUT TO YOU DANIEL!!

Hello again Fight Friends!HAPPY SEPTEMBER LONG WEEKEND!I am up in Sherwood Park for a wedding, but brought my computer with me to get this AWESOME podcast out and maybe help out making the long weekend commute a little shorter for my friends travelling this weekend.SPEAKING OF AWESOME PODCASTS! - in this episode I get to sit and chat with one of the real old skool legends of Canadian Muay Thai, Mr. Gerald Ching of MAFA in Mississauga! I won't lie to ya, I have known of Gerald for a long time, we have met several times - But I always watched him as a coach/cornerman at events and noticed he's always the same! very stoic/unchanged in demeanor as well as behaviour, win or loss - and because of this, I wasn't sure really how to read him. But it wasn't long into this podcast that I was reminded why I like to speak with the old school on the pod.We have a chat about when Gerald first laid eyes on Muay Thai and his immediate obsession in the 80's. Their wasn't Muay Thai happening much in the Great White North at the time, so Gerald took it upon himself to go and seek the information, training and knowledge to being back to his students and for himself, before being introduced to Ajahn Suchart. We also get into his and Eric Rocha's unique relationship (Eric was the last episode!) from student to fighter/coach to running a well oiled machine of a fight team! AND - I get called out for letting my inner bitch come out a bit being a trainer/padman! Gerald has a few years on me and is still in GREAT shape and very active in the trainer lifestyle, and he didn't let me use my excuses haha, in all honesty - I loved it! I am always a student in Martial Arts, my cup is always 1/2 empty and I listen to those who came before me. So speaking to one of the Master Splinters of Canadian Muay Thai was a real treat and I'm grateful. These are the kinds of podcasts where I actually take something away from it and try to apply it to my own life - I suppose you might call that inspiration! My favorite podcasts are often the ones where we talk beyond the "punch and kick" and talk about the life that surrounds the punch and kick - and this is one of those pods! thank you for the great chat sir! I am genuinely grateful. SHOUT OUT TO YOU GERALD!

Hello Fight Fans!I am hoping everyone is having a TOP NOTCH summer! (see what I did there!) speaking of top Notch, today I got to have a conversation with Dale Macknowed - the head instructor and owner of Top Notch Muay Thai in Kelowna, BC. Dale has had Top Notch Muay Thai open since 2021 and has been ALL GAS/NO BREAKS with building his community, getting involved in the fight scene and pumping out fighters!being a kids from the 80s/90s myself - we talk about the common story from that era of watching Van Damme movies, playing Street Fighter and taking martial arts classes here and there. But for Dale - Ong Bak changing EVERYTHING and his Muay Thai obsession was born! We discuss his early training and a few fights Dale has had, the development of his gym and team, but than we get into a POPULAR topic as of late - life after fighting! and when the "dream" gets taking from you, which is what happened to Dale. Dale tells me the events that stopped his world championship dreams with lasting effects STILL! and more importantly - how he climbed out that dark time following to find a new purpose with Muay Thai and in life. THIS IS SUCH AN IMPORTANT TOPIC! - it ends for all fighters, but when it's really over how do you let it go?!All I can say for now, is that "you're going to be okay"Great chat with a great guy who's got ALL the energy and passion for what he loves - Family, community and Muay Thai! Hello again Fight Friends! On the podcast today - I got a chance to visit Ruff House in Calgary and sit down with one of the rising starts in Canadian Muay Thai Shae Wedderburn, along with former fighter, champion and coach to go along with the title "Dad" - Markhaile Wedderburn! This was my first time getting to chat with a father/daughter fighter dynamic so I was very curious to know how they navigate that situation. It it clear on this podcast that they have a VERY close relationship to the point they can look at each other and know what each other were thinking. we hear this from fighter and coach just before fight time often, but I gotta believe the Father/Daughter bond during that moment must be INTENSE!Both Markhaile and Shae tell their story about how they found Muay Thai, Shae lets us in on when the turning point in her career happened and things needed to get serious as a professional. Of course we break down her most recent fights and the buzz surrounding them - Shae is hopeful for the possibility of a rematch for the WBC Canadian title in the not too distant future. AS WELL AS A WMO WORLD TITLE FIGHT THIS WEEKEND! and obviously the top 3 question.I really enjoyed being in the background a little bit on this one and listen to what's obviously a very strong and unique relationship between Father and Daughter. You can clearly see the strength they carry comes from real belief they have in each other, in both rolls as fighter and family. RESPECT!SHOUT OUT TO YOU MARKHAILE AND SHAE!!

OF COURSE I get her to tells us all the titles and championships Sandra has won including best female fighter at IFMA (what?!?!), winning world titles, European titles and North American titles to name a few. It was awesome breaking down the timeline from first class visit to what's happening in Sandra's Muay Thai life now - it's really cool and a privilege to watch the journey come full circle for Sandra!I get to ask Sandra some fan questions and questions I have always been curious about. ALSO, Sandra and myself started our Muay Thai journey at a similar time in the same gym - although different stages in life - so we talk about how and where we started, WHICH GOT ME A LITTLE EMOTIONAL! it just all hit me at once that we were different people than which was a lifetime ago, but yet feels like yesterday, mixed with everything we have done with Muay Thai since - PROUDLY! My martial arts history is important to me and the lessons I learned (and received lol) really have molded me and I hold those lessons close.Sandra, didn't chase titles, fame, recognition or accolades. She did it because it fun and she enjoyed it, SIMPLE! and to be honest I found it a little refreshing. What a great chat with a great fighter from the Great White North! it was special to go down memory lane and catch up what we have been doing after so many years. Adrian tells us about his time in the British military before becoming a full time trainer in Thailand for 16 years, making the calculated move to Canada to keep coaching which in turn, eventually opening up his own facility - MUAY THAI ACADEMY in Vancouver, we also talk about the MASSIVE year for his fighter Petch coming off of a historic Glory tournament win, and I ask Adrian "Is Saenchai the GOAT?" and he gives his definitive answer! I try to keep the podcasts to 1 hr, but selfishly i wanted to chat for 3 more! this amount of coaching, training, traveling, and being part of the biggest and best events with the biggest and best of Muaythai and kickboxing that Adrian has experienced is damn near UNMATCHED! - i guess this gives us an excuse for another one in the future! what a great chat with a genuine, down to earth fella - he always makes you feel like a friend. SHOUT OUT TO YOU ADRIAN!

Now we are into November, that means the Muay Thai World Cup is only weeks away and yours truly will be ringside bringing the action to the fight fans from the safe side of the ropes. BEFORE WE GET THERE - I was up at an event in Sherwood Park hosted by Arashi-Do Martial Arts, which is the home of WBC current and former Canadian champions Tim Lo and Derek Jolivette as well as WBC LHW contender Jerry Liu. ALSO, the podcast with Tim and Derek is called "2 champs 1 gym" (I wonder where I got that title....WINK!) but their's another champ out of ADMA Sherwood Park, and that's 2x, back to back IFMA jr WORLD CHAMPION Kobe Carr! with these guys all in 1 room at the same time as me, I decided to being up my gear and make these guys feel guilty and convince them to have a chat with me! Tim and Jerry have a couple 1,2 title fights on the 23rd so we talk about their match ups, preparations for the fight and the MTWC on the other side of the country. Side interviews and new mics are new to the podcast, but I will do my best to keep leveling up to bring you the best, most entertaining podcast I can - the SHOUT OUT PODCAST - the podcast for the people!

Happy Monday Fighty Friends! Let's kick the week off right with another episode of the MIGHTY SHOUT OUT PODCAST! Today I got to sit down and talk shop with host of the Wellness Dojo Podcast in Calgary, the wellness ninja himself - Kyle Craik! Kyle is a long time traditional Kung-Fu practitioner and as I was/am a long time traditional karate practitioner, we often saw each other compete and coach and open style martial arts tournaments, but as is the theme of this show - another guy I've known for decades but never sat down to chat with till today. It was refreshing talking the traditional aspects of martial arts including what a "dojo" means, the life lessons and growth that come with training martial arts and coaching 4 year old to 400 year old students. This was a great chat about MARTIAL ARTS and not just punch and kick, it was definitely a little awesome reminder of my martial arts beginning, to go back chatting about my roots as a martial artist, great conversation - SHOUT OUT TO YOU KYLE! I hope you enjoy the podcast!
