Despite the fact that Jan Griffiths has had a successful career as a tier-1 CPO and entrepreneur, she still wasn’t prepared for the personal and professional impact of the pandemic. After indulging in a full day of Netflix, she decided to push herself out of her comfort zone and into a non-judgemental accountability project with a pop-up group of peers. What started as a ‘therapeutic’ accountability clinic evolved over time to become the accountability lab: a group of people that connect daily for 30 minutes at 6:30 a.m. to make commitments to themselves in the supportive presence of others. The learnings from this experiment have changed the way she feels about her own situation and will no doubt impact her leadership seminars going forward. As Jan tells Host Philip Ideson, “I love, love, love leadership.” In this conversation, Jan shares her candid perspective on: The power of incremental change, whether it includes improvement over time or small course corrections Why procurement needs to change their approach to goal setting before they can increase their impact on the enterprise The rallying impact of having a brand identity at the functional level, and the need to ensure that the brand aligns with company objectives

In this episode of the Road To Growth podcast, we are pleased to introduce you to Jan Barlow. Jan has over two decades of global business development and job-placement experience ranging from the corridors of Capitol Hill, the front lines of the healthcare industry and nationally recognized college campuses, Jan is recognized as being on the cutting edge utilizing artificial intelligence, psychology, and quantum science to position people in their strengths. With an impressive track record in public speaking, training, sales, and marketing, in 2009, Jan left the top ranks of an international pharmaceutical leader to launch her consulting firm, strategically training and coaching individuals and groups in job fit. While surveying and analyzing scientific results of individual behavior traits and their influence on corporate innovation, team dynamics and employee turnover, Jan found that true diversity extends beyond the external and physical to the differences we can’t see and trademarked Behavior Diversity™. Facilitating unique and transformational experiences, clients learn the respect of “Deference” over focusing on “Difference”; bridging behavior ‘resistance gaps’ that reduce potentially distorted perceptions of discrimination, bullying, sexual harassment and increases organizational innovation, engagement, and retention. As Jan’s desire to help others create dynamic change grew into her life’s purpose, she transitioned her company into a 501(c)3 organization. As a celebrated advocate and committed to social justice, Jan counsels the Veteran and Foster Care populations, partnering with companies to create customized internships and permanent placements, scientifically matching their strengths to an employers’ open positions. Jan Broman, along with his brother, founded Fotografiska as a meeting place to inspire a more conscious world, using photography - portrait, fashion, nature and documentary photography, for example, to initiate conversations. Not just conversations about the here and now, but what the photos represent and the world around us. The renovated former Customs House, built in 1906 in the heart of Stockholm, is home to Fotografiska, now considered one of Scandinavia’s most important and powerful artistic magnets. Since opening almost ten years ago, Fotografiska has hosted some of the biggest names in photography from Annie Leibovitz to Gus Van Sant to Martin Parr. But Fotografiska is anything but a regular museum or art gallery. At its core it is a dedicated hub of human interaction, a creative space that nurtures thoughts and discussion and encourages the exchanging of ideas. As Jan says, “What we have become is more like a place where conversation can take place. And it can be inspired by what we do in the exhibition spaces, but it could also be inspired by what we do with the food, and helping people to get a bit more conscious.”Because Fotografiska’s vision is to inspire a more conscious world, Jan and his brother are keen to share their values of inspiration, inclusion, innovation, sustainability and relevance not just with their partners, but with the people who come to meet there. To make its accessibility even greater and to make more impactful places for photography around the world, Fotografiska is very soon expanding to New York, and London not long after that.“We see people meeting, meeting their friends, meeting family and loved ones. All kinds of meetings take place here. Fotografiska is more and more becoming a familiar sort of a place for conversations.”In this podcast:The importance of creating a space for meeting and talkingThe value of talkingWhy Fotografiska isn’t just relevant in Sweden, but around the worldHow to be more consciousHow photography can raise awareness of global issuesThe benefits of getting older If you run a company you have to be able to fight and changeWhy the world needs more empathy right nowLinks:www.fotografiska.com See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Welcome to the 41st CONKERS’ CORNER recorded on 21st December 2016. In this interview I have the pleasure of speaking with Jan Skoyles @Skoylesy, a unique force in the Fintech, Blockchain sector and Gold commodity space. Jan is also a highly regarded consultant, blogger and serial entrepreneur. Jan is also the founder and a partner at Barlings Consulting in Dubai, as well as a Research Executive at Goldcore. Jan grew up in the Midlands in what she describes as a “typical middle class upbringing”. She explained that she was very lucky and her parents encouraged her to be anything she wanted to be, “whether that was a fairy godmother or an astronaut”. After successfully completing school, Jan went onto study for an Economics Degree at Aston University in Birmingham. Jan became very disenfranchised with her studies which she was undertaking during the time of the financial crisis. She felt that things did not add up with regards to views what of President Magabe did in Zimbabwe and that of what Ben Bernanke was doing with regards quantitative easing (QE). Whilst on her final year placement with BP, Jan became very ill and had to extend studies across a further two years. It was during this difficult time that she was introduced to Ned Naylor-Leyland, a well known figure in the world of gold and silver investing. As Jan was still undecided as to what topic to cover for her dissertation, Ned suggested she write her dissertation on “the return of gold and silver to the monetary system”. Jan did just that and graduated from Aston University in 2011 with a Degree in International Business and Economics. She describes her dissertation “as her golden ticket” as it grabbed the attention of a few gold companies. Straight from University, Jan joined the gold investment platform start-up: The Real Asset Co (TRAC), as a co-founder. Jan covered several roles including that of CEO during her tenure at TRAC. Whilst in her role as CEO, the TRAC team did a funding round and implemented a basic blockchain. TRAC were essentially one of the first to get involved in the blockchain space. This discussion provides a useful insight into the journey that Jan has taken, which so far has encompassed Fintech, Bitcoin, Blockchain and Gold. The topics we discussed include: Fintech is many different things; Fintech start-up opportunities; Dubai/Middle East Fintech Bitcoin/Blockchain innovation; First love being Gold; Working with The Real Asset Co, Coinsilium, Goldcore, Barlings Consulting; Where Jan holds her investments; Start-up valuations, the difference between RABBITS and UNICORNS; Our changing relationship with Banks/Financial organisations. Listen now to gain insights into how Jan Skoyles, traverses the Fintech, Bitcoin, Blockchain and Gold space. Learn why Jan states that one of her wisest investments is seizing opportunities and why one of her favourite quotes is “Never turn down an invitation to a cocktail party”. Learn from the lessons in her successful, insightful business/entreprenuerial and investing journey.

Not everyone can say they fired their music teacher at age 6 and then went on to compose music for a worldwide audience of 4 billion people! But Jan Randall can. Jan uses his "perfect pitch" to create, produce, direct and perform music for radio, film, television and live events (we'll let him tell you the story about the audience of 4 billion). His skills allow him to work where and when he wants. In addition to his many contract gigs in the entertainment industry, he currently teaches at the Victoria Conservatory of Music on Vancouver Island, Canada. On the outside, Jan Randall is a real person. But inside, he is a world of music. He doesn't "live" in a world of music. He IS a world of music. Jan may have started earlier than most on the road to his music career and that road has had its own unique collection of twists, turns and bumpy stretches ... but his success was no accident. He tells a compelling story about how his fine-tuned networking skills, plus a keen understanding of a producer's vision, can cause one gig to beget the next. As they say, one thing leads to another. As Jan's career challenges became a bit more complex, he was constantly learning, adapting and acquiring the necessary tools to more quickly identify and deal with opportunities and obstacles. You can learn a lot from Jan the mentor! Have a listen. Jan Koch - The Man, WordPress and The WP Summit Jan Koch knows WordPress. It was great talking with Jan, (pronounced "Yawn" and this interview is anything but boring so you definitely won't be yawning at any point, lol) all the way from a little town in northern Germany. As Jan says, "a global connection". This interview was a lot of fun and Jan talked about so many cool things having to do with WordPress, the WP Summit and he offers a lot of great advice for entrepreneurs. We kick off the interview laughing after Jan hears about a story of mine and my lack of speaking German. Jan is a 25 year old guy from Germany who grew an online side business that ended up generating enough income to replace his day job. He now works as a web designer and WordPress developer full time and enjoys blogging about it. As web designer, he works for creative entrepreneurs and bloggers, helping them to take their website to the next level and increase the profitability of their businesses. The conversation jumps into learning about Jan's background and his story covering his transition from working for a company to becoming a successful entrepreneur. He talks about his journey from starting his blog, to now having many clients all around the world building WordPress websites. Jan has been working with the WordPress CMS since 2012. When he saw how successful some of the people were that he was following, he thought he could do the same thing. After finding what worked and more importantly, what didn't work, Jan found a formula that worked for him in the world of blogging. While he quickly grew his traffic to 400 visitors a day in four months. While this was good, it was hard for Jan to sustain the amount of work it was taking. The more he worked with WordPress, the more he became comfortable with the WordPress API and the next logical step for Jan was to proceed as a WordPress consultant. I am the type of guy who likes to fail fast and fail forward. -Jan Koch Jan Koch on WordPress Security Hacks don't work like they did before. There is not a hacker sitting in front of a computer and targeting one site in particular. Hackers use automated scripts and tools these days. If they find a site that is vulnerable, then users have a problem. Hackers can make tens of thousands of dollars for one spend campaign. Given that WordPress powers approximately 23% of all websites on the net, this is a huge target for hackers. The WordPress core itself is rock solid. The themes and plugins are where the problems are usually found. There are so many people creating themes and plugins without a consistent filtering system in place prior to developers publishing their software. Users install these plugins and/or themes on their site without knowing how well the code was written and so this can be detrimental to the users site. In order to minimize your vulnerability with regard to hackers, make sure that you install themes or plugins from the WordPress repository only if possible. Make sure that the software comes from a reliable source. Make sure that there is an active development in place. This means that you should be able to easily get in touch with the development team to answer any quesitons. Also, make sure that the software is upated on a regular basis. That's why I love WordPress, because it gives you tons of opportunities when you put the work in. - Jan Koch Jan Koch - The WP Summit If you are a online entrepreneur that is using WordPress you don't want to miss the WP Summit. Jan created this 10-day WP summit by interviewing 28 world-leading WordPress experts and online entrepreneurs who will share how you can build an impactful WordPress site and everything that goes along with it! Jan invited these experts from around the world to talk about WordPress without all the technical jargon normally associated with online marketing with WordPress. He wants this to be very easy for WordPress users to understand.
