On today's show, I'm joined by a good friend of mine, Chelsea Baldwin as a special guest coach. Together, we coach Australian freelancer-turned-agency-builder Caroline. She has built up a nice freelance business and has begun to work with subcontractors to begin scaling her business. But she's realizing it's harder to transition from solo freelancer to full-on agency than she initially expected. Chelsea and I coach her on two critical tasks: How to get her clients to start treating her like an agency—instead of a freelancer. And how to get the word out about her new agency and start bringing in fresh clients even if she doesn't feel quite ready. We wrap up the episode with some really strong advice from Chelsea on getting new clients with Linkedin. Join us on this jam-packed episode. This episode aired originally on October 22, 2020. Freelance job sites are a great way to get your foot in the door as a freelancer. But are they the best long-term strategy for growing an agency? On today's show, we have a coaching call with Ron, who has been freelancing on Fiverr for over 10 years—and he's done quite well for himself. Ron gets a ton of new business from Fiverr, but he's worried about two things: first, it can be difficult to build long-term relationships with clients on Fiverr and second, if there was an algorithm adjustment or some other unforeseen change, Ron's entire business would disappear. So he's ready to start building his own processes in addition to the work he already does on the platform. We start off with some great tips from Ron about succeeding on Fiverr and then guest coach and friend Chelsea Baldwin and I chime in with our best advice for expanding away from marketplaces like Fiverr. According to a recent comment on our Facebook page, it’s impossible to earn a great living as a writer. Unless, of course, you get lucky and publish a bestselling novel. I don’t bother arguing with people like him. They just don’t get it. But I also recognize that there are doubters everywhere. And there are doubters who want to believe. But they have good reason to be skeptical. If you’ve been freelancing for years and never come close to reaching six figures in annual full-time income, I can understand why you may have given up on this high-income idea. Trouble is, I know too many people who make a high income doing this work. So while I understand and respect your doubt and skepticism, I have to tell you — this high-income thing is entirely possible. My guest this week is a perfect example. Her name is Chelsea Baldwin, and she started freelancing on the side six years ago. But it wasn’t until two years ago that she quit her day job and went completely solo. This past July, Chelsea had her first five figure month...
