Alex claims this is due to the lack of mobile technology utilised compared to Asian parts of the industry that have utilised mobile technologies from the start. However, Alex believes that the introduction of new technologies to the industry has allowed them to gain some ground on Asian countries.“If you look where Australia is starting out, it is a lot more of a mature market to be honest, we have not had a lot of that mobile technology…”How is climate change affecting the industry in Australia?Climate change is affecting all industries and the Australian construction one is no different. Alex explains how increased rain and inclement weather are making the job of construction workers much more challenging than before.“Yeah definitely, the rain activity has not helped construction. We have already got all of these other issues and then you go and add a whole bunch of inclement weather and then all of a sudden that is putting a lot of pressure on builders…”About Alex Fernandez-SonciniAlex Fernandez-Soncini is the Team Lead for Strategic Product Consultants at Procore Technologies. As Team Lead, Alex utilises his extensive construction knowledge and experience to direct a team and offer guidance on the role of cloud-based technology and best practices to key customers and internal stakeholders. Margaret Ricci and I discuss how harnessing strengths creates more effective teams and leaders. Margaret's Bio: I understand and turn around under-performing leadership teams. I also help put together your best teams, starting at the executive level and beyond. When the right leaders are in the right seats, each using their innate talents and harnessing their team’s talents, the company succeeds on all metrics. As the first triple-qualified Gallup Coach, the first Gallup Builder Profile 10 (BP10) Coach in the 4-State Area, and one of only 300 BP10 Coaches worldwide, I help leadership teams excel. Qualified as a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, Gallup Q12 Employee Engagement Champion and Gallup BP10 Coach, I use insights from Gallup’s suite of powerful tools and my own business experience as a C-Suite and middle management executive to help leaders create successful companies with engaged employees. I initially discovered my passion for teaching, coaching and consulting through Gallup’s CliftonStrengths and other assessments in the midst of an industry-event layoff. I’d been in the architectural and engineering industry as a Contracts Administrator, responsible for creating, negotiating and administering contracts for projects from $5,000 to $1.6B for over 30 years and was the COO of an international toy company. What was I really wired to do? During my discovery process, I found that my passion lay in creating super-powered teams by teaching them to use the unique, innate abilities within each member and harnessing these abilities toward greater success, but also in getting the dysfunction out of these teams. Now with Gallup’s BP10 assessment and Lencioni’s Overcoming The Five Dysfunctions of a Team in my toolkit, my current coaching focus is helping leadership teams work together more effectively to power their companies toward success and create strong cultures with employee engagement. So many employees suffer under leaders who are also miserable because they are in the wrong leadership seats. When leadership teams are well-aligned within their strengths, the organization thrives, the culture is positive and employees are engaged. Strengths-based organizations have been proven to build high-performing cultures, excelling beyond normal business outcomes.I was also selected to establish the Twin Cities Chapter of the COO Forum. The COO Forum was an important source of peer support when I was a COO of an international toy company, I am delighted to head the new Chapter in Minneapolis / St. Paul.
