Consensus Unreality: Occult, UFO, Phenomena and Conspiracy strangeness
We're back in the interview game! A great conversation with documentary filmmaker Brad Abrahams, known for Love and Saucers, Do You See What I See, and others, leads us down some of the many corridors of contemporary fringe culture. We talk about his experience of working with and filming controversial personalities like artist David Dees, as well as his nuanced portrait of contactee-artist David Huggins. Other topics include the possibility of parapsychological phenomena, the new age convention circuit and its many delights, the hoaxer/grifter tradition, the age of the benevolent (?) trickster like Gray Barker vs our more dire contemporary figures, the need for a Krishnamurti biopic, and much more. Plus: tune in for a bonus Patreon follow up on a variety of things we've both been up to: the hand as the Grail; Gray Barker doc Shades of Gray, medium-as-message speculations, and more! https://www.patreon.com/consensusunreality

Now in paper Do You See What I See a droll memoir by a world-class physicist that includes recollections of his involvement with pioneering laser research, encounters with many of the most recognizable literary, cultural, and entertainment figures of the 20th century, and his role in teaching ESP techniques to the CIA. Russell Targ is a Zelig-like character. His story is an idiosyncratic journey through the highways and byways of American intellectual, scientific, and cultural life in the 20th century. Along the way he has rubbed elbows with Ayn Rand, Alan Greenspan, Alan and Arlene Alda, Bobby Fischer, and Sally Rand. He was a pioneer in laser research and spent many years developing airborne laser wind sensors for Lockheed and NASA. In addition, he co-founded the Stanford Research Institute remove viewing program-which was funded by the CIA-and was instrumental in tracking Soviet and Chinese weapon installations during the Cold War. And to round it out, he is a legally blind motorcyclist-who happens to be a Buddhist. This is a fascinating memoir by a first-class intellect; the story of a physicist who has pushed the boundaries of science to explore the realms of parapsychology, spirituality, and the unexplained. Russell Targ is currently "retired" and enjoys motorcycling in the Silcon Valley (even though he is legally blind) and studying Dzogchen Buddhism. - www.espresearch.com

London's new £18.9bn Elizabeth line has recently opened, with travellers now able to go from Abbey Wood to Heathrow and Reading, and from Shenfield to Heathrow. We went to find out about the line's access features, with Clive Wood of the charity Guide Dogs. Clive was offering advice and guidance on the accessible design of the new line and he believes there is more that can be done to ensure full accessibility. We put his concerns to TfL's chief customer officer, Mark Evers. We also travelled down to South London, to an exhibition at the Outlined Gallery called Do You See What I See? It is an exhibition that showcases the interpretations of how partially sighted people, with various conditions, see and experience art. Presenter: Peter White Producer: Beth Hemmings Production Coordinator: Liz Poole Website image description: pictured from the left is Sam Leftwich (one of the visually impaired participants in the Do You See What I See exhibition), then stands Elizabeth Manuel (the person leading the exhibition), then Peter White and finally Lindsay Whitelaw (the professional artist) on the right.
