In this Week 1 sermon from our new series on Revelation, Pastor Tony walks through what John was really writing, who he was writing to, and why most of what we've been taught about end times misses the heart of the book entirely.The book of Revelation is the most often-read and most-misunderstood book of the Bible. For 2,000 years, Christians have tried to decode it — figuring out who the antichrist is, what the mark of the beast means, when Jesus will return. But Revelation was a letter before it was scripture. It was written to seven real churches under real pressure, in language they would have understood, full of Old Testament imagery (500+ references in 22 chapters).In this message, Pastor Tony unpacks the Greek meaning of "apocalypse" (it doesn't mean what you think), walks through the four main ways Christians interpret Revelation (preterist, futurist, historicist, idealist), and gives four warnings to keep in mind before you read a single chapter. Guest Speaker Tony Jones brings us a message about how scars are not symbols of degradation but of validation, as demonstrated when Jesus showed His wounds to the disciples as proof of His resurrection, revealing that every scar tells a story of what has been overcome. Wounds are inevitable because people need people, and the same closeness that brings blessing also opens the door for harm, but healing is optional and requires a willingness to address the pain rather than hiding behind pretense or running to the next person, job, or situation. A scar is the destiny of every wound and a testament that healing took place, and sometimes choosing temporary pain through surrender to God's process is the only path to true freedom and wholeness. In Luke 5:27–32, Jesus walks past a tax booth and calls a man named Levi—better known as Matthew—to follow Him.Levi wasn't searching for God.  He wasn't repenting or praying.  He was sitting in a tax booth—secure, established, and working for the Roman system that oppressed his own people.Yet Jesus stops, looks directly at him, and says two words: “Follow Me.”In that moment Levi stands up, leaves everything behind, and begins following Jesus. But the story doesn't end there. Levi throws a banquet and fills the table with tax collectors and sinners. And Jesus sits with them.The Pharisees are outraged. In their framework, holiness required separation from people like this. But Jesus responds with a diagnosis that exposes the heart of the gospel:“It is not those who are healthy who need a doctor, but those who are sick.”This message challenges all of us with a simple but profound question:What booth are you sitting in?For some, the booth is obvious sin or rebellion.  For others, it's quiet self-righteousness and moral control.Faith is not moral improvement.  Faith is a transfer of trust.You cannot sit at your booth and recline at His table.Will you stay where you feel secure, or will you follow Jesus to where grace is served?---
