We’re baaack! In this episode, I talk about some changes that happened in my life. If you’re here strictly for theme park news and reviews, SKIP TO 20:35. Later in the show, I recap my visit to Dreamscape Immersive. It’s my second VR experience; and while it was drastically different from my first one, I loved it just as much! Lastly, I discuss some exciting news for Universal’s Epic Universe. Nintendo is not the only land bringing their “A” game. Enjoy, and RIP Kobe. From the halls of the Immersive Design Summit to your ears! Guest hosts KJ Knies and Michaela Holland tag in to interview Fri Forjindam of Mycotoo, and we follow that up with an interview of Jenni Cook of Dreamscape Immersive by KJ. It's the first in what will be a handful of episodes emerging from the 2019 IDS.
In this episode, I look at a string of virtual-reality projects, technologies and venues that have arrived in Los Angeles recently, as the bad mojo of 2017 has evolved into a promising industry again in 2018. I also talk with Bruce Vaughn, the former Disney Imagineer and current CEO of Dreamscape Immersive, the Steven Spielberg-backed company creating story-driven VR experiences such as "Alien Zoo." Dreamscape just opened its first permanent venue in an upscale Los Angeles mall. This episode is not quite a year-end retrospective, despite the timing, so much as a rundown of cool stuff I've seen the last several months, in an industry that's finally starting to look sustainable, and fascinating. Give a listen. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/davidlbloom/support

As certain forward-thinking magazines predicted last year (ahem), VR's first mass-culture moment has arrived not as a device but as a destination. There's far more immersive potential in a dedicated VR facility—with its stagecraft and high-end components—than what's currently possible in your living room.
