True North Country Comics Podcast reports from CES 2025 in conversation with Pavlo Haidamak from MacPaw. The post CES 2025 – MacPaw appeared first on True North Country Comics.
The federal government has reported a substantial increase in AI use cases, with over 1,700 applications identified across 37 agencies, more than doubling the previous year's total. These use cases span various categories, including health, mission-enabling tasks, and government services. The Department of Health and Human Services leads with 271 reported cases, showcasing the growing integration of AI in public services.Host Dave Sobel highlights new innovations from companies like Synchro, AppDirect, and MacPaw, which are driving advancements in IT management. Synchro has launched a platform tailored for internal IT departments, enhancing operational efficiency through automation and AI. AppDirect's acquisition of FirstBase aims to streamline IT asset management, while MacPaw introduces CleanMyMac Business to simplify Mac maintenance for small and medium-sized businesses. These developments reflect a trend towards co-managed IT solutions, addressing the unique needs of corporate environments. The episode also covers the launch of the Cyber Trust Mark, a government initiative designed to bolster consumer confidence in smart home devices by ensuring they meet rigorous cybersecurity standards. This mark, akin to the Energy Star label, will be mandatory for federal purchases by 2027 and is expected to influence how IT service providers recommend and support devices. Sobel emphasizes the potential challenges and opportunities this initiative presents for managed service providers (MSPs) as they adapt to new compliance requirements. Finally, Sobel discusses Microsoft's strategic shift away from relying solely on OpenAI models for its Microsoft 365 Copilot system. The company is exploring in-house AI models and third-party options to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. This transition underscores a broader trend where customers prioritize the quality of solutions over the specific AI models used. Sobel concludes by inviting listeners to engage with the show and participate in the ongoing conversation about the future of managed services. For more than eight years, Julia Petryk has headed up PR for MacPaw, a Kyiv-based company known for publishing apps that clean and speed up Mac computers. For many in our profession, it would be a dream job, in a dream city. Then came the Russians. Within the first hours of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Petryk and others knew that they had a part to play in repelling invaders and marshaling the forces of Ukraine's allies. Petryk and others founded the initiative, PR Army as a response to the Russian violation of international agreements and its lawless invasion of Ukraine. PR and Comms experts got together to build a strong Ukrainian presence in the global arena and make Ukrainian voices vocal all over the world. Listeners, we are fortunate to hear from a professional literally on the front lines—and today we ask her how the public relations profession—literally a PR Army--can be as valuable to freedom as any weapon in a foxhole. macOS keyboard shortcuts, the shortcuts app, and Dropbox automation. Is there a method, or even an app, I can use to delete & sort photos on my iPhone? How can I create and add a shortcut for my Apple HomePod? Is there a way to see a list of upcoming podcast episodes in the Apple Podcast app? What are some ways to easily keep track of shows automatically that I've watched on my Apple TV? Is there an external headset amplifier that one could use to hear better during phone calls for those hard of hearing? My MacBook is slower after updating the operating system when searching for things on my laptop. What can I do to speed up my laptop? Quick PSA: let your phones charge overnight! Mikah shows off the Satechi 200W USB Charger. Is there a way to synchronize two Apple laptops with one another? Is it worth upgrading to the M2 MacBook Air? What would Mikah and Rosemary recommend more in buying: the iPad Pro 11 or the M1 iPad Air? Why am I being asked to unlock my iPhone first when asking Siri on my Apple Watch to respond to a text?
