Hierdie laaste paar maande voel soos 'n wipwa rit van uitgelate vreugdevolle hoogtes, en dreigende onheilspellende laagtes! Na jare se pogings, begin dit voel of ons gemeenskap stadig maar seker nader aan mekaar beweeg, soos ook met die onlangse Ramskop Natuurtuin heropening en opgradering te danke aan DANKIE LOTTOLAND se belegging in ons dorp. Ons glo hulle het moontlik iets gesien wat ons lankal nie meer raakgesien het nie: hier woon wonderlike mense in Clanwilliam! #BloomingAmazingMense Ek dink aan die honderd en vyftien kindertjies wat vyf dae 'n week 'n voedsame ete kry as gevolg van 'n anonieme vermoënde man se maandelikse kontribusie, al voel dit soos 'n druppel in die emmer in die lig van die nuutste syfers wat ons met ons SAFERKIDS samesprekinge verkry het. Minstens 150 kinders onder 12jr oud in ons dorp, gaan nie meer skool nie, en dwaal honger in ons strate rond. Ek sit ek en kyk in die moedige oë van 'n kleuterskool onderwyseres Maryke Davids in ons Ubuntu ECD in Citrusdal, Riverview Plakkerskamp, en moet skaam verduidelik dat ons nie meer geld het om die deure oop te hou nie. Dit voel of vyftien jaar se onbaatsugtige wonderlike werk verdwyn soos water uit 'n stukkende glas in die droë grond. Ek het nie al die antwoorde nie! Op 'n ander dag sit 'n paar honderd mense dorstig en wag in die NGK saal vir Minister Mchunu dat ons versekering kan kry dat bouwerk aan die Clanwilliam Dam inderwaarheid nou begin het! Ons voel onseker maar opgewonde, dinge is besig om te draai! Ons is onseker, want volgens Dawie Roodt, die onlangse spreker by ons Sakekamer, is ons land nog nie deur die kantelpunt nie, hier wag nog 'n paar reuse uitdagings op ons, veral in die lig van volgende jaar se verkiesing! Dit alles terwyl ons daagliks die beelde oral op die media sien van die oorlog in Israel! Toe hierdie nuus op 7 Oktober breek, staan ek in Bloemfontein tussen 'n paar duisend gelowiges en roep die Here aan, dat HY ons nog 'n kans sal gee!! Daar op 'n heuwel buitekant die Rosestad, buig ons ons knie, en hou hande vas, Ons GEE weer ons land aan JESUS!! Saterdagaand 29 Oktober wen die bokke hulle 3rde wêreldbeker wedstryd, met net een naelskraap punt!! Die somtotaal van al die punte van hierdie 3 wedstryde is 111. Toeval? Nee, toe val die lig! Die Here geen ons nog 'n kans, maar dit is 'n dun garing draadjie van hoop!! Ons gaan nie op die arm van die vlees kan staatmaak nie, nee ons staan in nederige verootmoediging: "Here ons het U nou meer as ooit so baie nodig!" Godsdienstigheid gaan nie die merk haal nie! Die dae van toeskouer lidmaatskap is verby! Vir 23 jaar preek ek op elke denkbare platform en plek in hierdie streek!! Ek is betrokke en sigbaar op feitlik elke komitee en raad in die dorp!! Ons gemeente is Sout en Lig!! Hier en daar klop iemand my op die skouer! Dankie Pastoor! Twee keer hierdie week is ons kerk propvol mense, die een was vir Dawie Roodt se toespraak die ander was vir Eddie Casey se begrafnis.
