Agriculture Commissioner Andy Gipson, a Republican candidate for governor next year, says he's concerned the proliferation of data centers in Mississippi puts the state at risk and that he's hearing major concerns about data centers and AI from Mississippians as he campaigns across the state. Gipson said data centers and the AI boom are being funded by debt and "circular financing," similar to what happened with other tech before the dot-com bubble burst in the early 2000s. He said he's also concerned about the "AI impact on humanity," the environment and utility consumers' costs.

Detailed Sermon Summary: "Legacy of Love: The Greatest Motivation" Pastor Bryan Hudson, D.Min. The sermon “Legacy of Love” explores how the love of God not only saves believers but also transforms their motivations, directs their lives, and creates a spiritual legacy that can be placed within other people. The central text is 2 Corinthians 5:14–15: “For the love of Christ compels us…that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.” The central message is that the God-kind of love is the greatest motivating power in a believer's life. Christ's love should control, compel, and redirect believers so that they no longer live primarily for themselves but for Jesus Christ and the purposes of God. The God-Kind of Love Because the word “love” is used in many different ways, the sermon begins by distinguishing biblical love from friendship, romantic affection, physical attraction, or human sentiment. The love being discussed is the God-kind of love. John 3:16 provides the clearest definition of this love: God loved the world so deeply that He gave His only begotten Son. God's love was demonstrated through sacrifice and action. However, the sacrifice involved more than the Father sending the Son. Jesus also had to willingly accept the assignment. In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus struggled with the suffering He was about to face, yet He submitted Himself to the Father's will, saying, “Nevertheless, not My will, but Yours be done.” The God-kind of love, therefore, is a love that willingly sacrifices itself for others. It does for people what they cannot do for themselves. God sent Jesus, and Jesus willingly gave His life to redeem humanity. The Meaning of Legacy Legacy is defined as what a person leaves behind through character, influence, values, accomplishments, relationships, service, teaching, and personal example. Legacy is not limited to money, property, or material possessions. It includes the lasting impact of how a person lived, loved, served, taught, encouraged, and inspired others. An important distinction is made between inheritance and legacy: Inheritance is what we leave to people. Legacy is what we leave within people. Material possessions can be spent, lost, or consumed. However, what has been deposited within a person can continue shaping that person's life and can be passed on to future generations. God did not merely give believers something to possess. Through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, God placed His love within them. That love changes their character, thinking, priorities, and motivations. The Pattern of Spiritual Legacy The pattern of the legacy of love flows: From God the Father, to Jesus Christ, to believers, and then through believers to other people. God placed His love and purpose within Christ. Christ places that same love within believers. Believers are then responsible for placing truth, wisdom, faith, encouragement, and godly values within others. This is especially important for people who work with others, including pastors, teachers, counselors, parents, mentors, community leaders, and those who minister to young people. True influence is more than giving people material assistance. Giving food, resources, or practical help is important, but love also seeks to place something lasting within people. The goal is not only to put something into their hands but also to put truth, hope, wisdom, faith, discipline, and purpose into their hearts and minds. This is why education, counseling, mentoring, ministry, public policy, and advocacy are so important. Good policies and systems help create environments where people can receive what they need to grow and flourish. Love motivates believers not only to serve individuals but also to stand and fight for what is right. What Love Does The sermon describes several ways that love actively works: Love is leverage. It has the power to influence, lift, strengthen, and transform people. Love is light. It dispels darkness, exposes deception, and reveals truth. Love is life. It brings hope, renewal, restoration, and spiritual vitality. Love is liberty. It frees people from fear, guilt, sin, bondage, and oppressive motivations. Love is labor. True love works, serves, sacrifices, remains committed, and accepts responsibility. Love is lordship. It flows from allowing Jesus Christ to rule within the heart. All these qualities originate in the truth that God is love. God possesses many attributes, including power, holiness, majesty, wisdom, and glory, but His actions toward humanity flow from His loving nature. Love caused God to send Jesus. Love caused Jesus to accept the cross. Love causes believers to serve others even when circumstances suggest they have already done enough. Love as the Greatest Motivation The greatest motivation is not recognition, convenience, personal gain, emotional excitement, or public approval. The greatest motivation is the God-kind of love. Emotions and inspiration may rise and fall, but the love of God remains present within the believer. Human motivation cannot always be trusted because it is often influenced by selfishness, fear, pride, comfort, or circumstances. However, when the Spirit of Christ is working within believers, God's love can reorient their motivations. The love of Christ causes people to continue serving when service is difficult. It motivates them to remain faithful when their minds or circumstances suggest that they should withdraw, slow down, or give up. Paul's Labor to Form Christ in People Galatians 4:19 reveals the Apostle Paul's motivation: “My little children, for whom I labor in birth again until Christ is formed in you.” Paul used the language of childbirth and labor to describe his ministry. He did not simply enter a city, preach a sermon, and immediately leave. He often remained with people for extended periods because he wanted Christ to be formed within them. Formation takes time. Whether someone is cooking, painting, building, teaching, mentoring, or developing another person, meaningful results rarely happen instantly. Important things must be worked, shaped, nurtured, and developed. Modern society often demands immediate results, but spiritual formation does not work that way. The legacy of love requires patience, presence, commitment, and sustained labor. “If One Died for All, Then All Died” In 2 Corinthians 5:14, Paul writes: “If One died for all, then all died.” Jesus died on behalf of every person. His death provided the possibility of salvation and new life for everyone. This does not mean that everyone is automatically saved. It means that the provision for salvation has already been made and is available to all who believe. Salvation is therefore not far away. Romans 10:8–9 teaches that the word is near, in a person's mouth and heart. When a person confesses Jesus as Lord and believes that God raised Him from the dead, that person will be saved. People may think they are not ready to receive salvation, but Christ has already completed the necessary work. The provision is ready. The invitation is near. They must recognize their spiritual condition and receive what Christ has provided. Apart from Christ, people may be physically alive but spiritually dead. Christ's death and resurrection make genuine spiritual life possible. Living No Longer for Ourselves Second Corinthians 5:15 explains the proper response to Christ's sacrifice: “He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.” Once people understand that Christ died to give them life, their motivations should change. They should no longer view life as something to be lived only for personal pleasure, comfort, advancement, or self-interest. Those who have experienced God's grace should ask: Why am I still alive? What has God preserved me to accomplish? How should I live in light of what Christ has done? What should motivate my decisions? Believers do not need to experience a near-death event before appreciating that life is a gift from God. Every day should be lived with gratitude and purpose. Because Christ gave His life for them, believers should willingly offer their lives to Him. They retain the power to make choices, but those choices should be made in light of God's mercy and Christ's sacrifice. The Love of Christ Compels Us The word “compels” communicates a powerful controlling and directing influence. Different Bible translations express this idea in several ways: The love of Christ “controls and compels us.” Believers are “ruled by the love of Christ.” Love is the “controlling force” in the believer's life. Christ's love takes hold of believers so completely that they can no longer continue living according to their former motivations. God's love is stronger and more dependable than temporary emotional excitement. Inspiration may come and go, but the love of God remains within believers as a sustaining and guiding force. God's Love as a Spiritual GPS The sermon uses GPS technology as an illustration of how the love of Christ directs believers. When someone enters a destination into a GPS, the system does more than show the person's current location. It continually provides direction. It tells the driver where to turn, warns when the driver has gone off course, and recalculates after a wrong turn. In the same way, the love of Christ becomes a controlling direction in the believer's life. God's love: Sets the destination. Influences decisions. Gives direction. Warns when a person is drifting. Redirects after mistakes. Brings the believer back on course. The love of God is like a spiritual GPS. It does not merely provide information; it provides direction and redirection. During a ministry trip through the northern deserts of Kenya, there was no cellular service, yet GPS continued to work because it communicated through satellites. That experience illustrates God's spiritual presence. Even when normal human connections, resources, or familiar supports are unavailable, God remains present and able to guide. Just as GPS has become a dependable tool for navigation, believers should learn to depend even more completely upon the love and presence of God. Replacing Lesser Motivations If believers possess the love of Christ, they should not continue depending upon older, inferior motivations. Some lesser motivations include: What I want. What benefits me. How other people see me. What makes me comfortable. How I can maintain control. Fear of criticism. Desire for approval. Self-preservation. Pride. Anger. Personal convenience. Concern about how others see us can be especially damaging because people often imagine what others think without having any evidence. Like the Israelites who assumed that the inhabitants of Canaan viewed them as grasshoppers, people sometimes allow imaginary judgments to keep them from entering God's promises. Believers must become dead to these lesser motivations and alive to the legacy of love. Settling the Matter in Our Minds Paul says, “We judge thus,” meaning that believers must reach a settled conclusion. There are certain truths about which believers should stop wavering. They must make firm decisions from which they will not retreat. This is not a time for spiritual indecision. In a rapidly changing and unstable world, believers cannot remain in a state of confusion or perpetual hesitation. They must settle certain matters in their hearts: Christ died for all. Christ died for me. My life belongs to God. I will no longer live only for myself. The love of Christ will motivate my decisions. I will follow God's direction. I will not return to lesser motivations. When the love of God is operating within a believer, decisions motivated by that love will lead in a righteous direction. Believers should question selfish thinking, but they should not continually question the genuine work God is doing within their hearts. Crucified With Christ Galatians 2:20 summarizes the entire message: “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” The old, sinful, self-centered person has been crucified with Christ. The believer now lives a new life through faith in the Son of God. Paul does not merely speak of “my life.” He speaks of “the life which I now live.” This distinction is important because the Christian life is not simply an improved version of the old life. It is the life of Christ operating within the believer. A life controlled only by human ability is limited. A person relying entirely upon “my life,” “my wisdom,” and “my strength” must attempt to solve every problem and confront every spiritual battle alone. However, believers are not limited to themselves. Christ lives within them. They live by faith in the Son of God, who loved them and gave Himself for them. This is the legacy of love: Christ gave Himself so that His life, love, character, power, and motivation could be formed within His people. The Closing Confession of Faith The sermon concludes with a corporate confession affirming the following truths: Believers are living in the legacy of love provided by Almighty God and Jesus Christ. What they have received from God is not only with them but also within them. They are moving away from lesser motivations toward greater motivations. The greatest motivation is the God-kind of love. The love of Christ compels, controls, and motivates them. Because Jesus died and rose again, they no longer have to live for themselves. They can live for the One who died for them and gave them new life. God's legacy of love functions as their spiritual GPS. Their direction and redirection come from the Lord. God's love motivates them to live beyond: Personal desires. Self-interest. The opinions of others. Comfort. The desire to control everything. They have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer the old self that lives, but Christ lives within them. The life they now live is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved them and gave Himself for them. Central Message The central truth of “Legacy of Love” is that God's love is not merely something believers receive and enjoy. It is something God places within them to transform how they think, live, decide, serve, and influence others. The legacy of love begins with God, is revealed through Jesus Christ, is deposited within believers, and is passed from believers into the lives of others. Because Christ died and rose again, believers are called to abandon selfish and lesser motivations. They are to allow Christ's love to become the controlling, compelling, and directing force of their lives. A genuine legacy of love is created when believers not only give things to people but also place something lasting within them—faith, truth, hope, wisdom, character, courage, purpose, and the life of Christ.

Schools often close if the forecast calls for anything frozen, including flurries. But we’ve had a few serious winter storms, and they almost always involve ice. In January of 2026, one of those storms came through our area. We did our best to prepare in case the power went out. We’d stocked up on bread, bottles of water, and snacks. My husband brought a generator home from work to help keep our refrigerator running and a small space heater. Thankfully, we had a wood-burning fireplace, so we figured at least we’d keep warm. Snow started turning into sleet on Saturday and eventually turned to freezing rain. Temperatures plummeted. Tree branches snapped under the weight of accumulating ice, falling on power lines. The sky flashed when a transformer blew with a loud pop. Sunday, early in the morning, we lost power, and so did our neighbors. We tried to stay warm using the space heater and fireplace, but our house grew frigid. It was uncomfortable, to say the least. We barely slept the first night, even though we were using nearly every blanket we could find. It didn’t take long for reality to sink in. The power could be out for days or a week. Our neighbors texted the next afternoon that they were heading to Kentucky to stay in a hotel. The storm wasn’t nearly as bad there. We did the same, taking our dog with us. Getting inside a warm hotel room with a nice soft bed was a sweet relief. The lights worked. The television worked. And a hot shower was minutes away. It didn’t take long to get nice and comfortable. When we received notice that power had been restored to our area a couple of days later, we made our way back home. The drive revealed a lot of damage. Even though the thick ice covering trees and grass glistened in the sunlight and was beautiful in a terrible way, the storm mostly left a trail of destruction with downed trees, telephone poles, and broken tree branches in its wake. The storm and loss of power over the next several days (and a couple of weeks for some) caused a lot of problems, and sadly, some folks didn’t survive. We came home to a mess. Electric cords were draped everywhere, from hooking things up to the generator, and blankets were piled up. It was freezing inside the house. The heat was on, but it took a long time for the house to warm back up. Honestly, seeing the mess reminded me just how much we really need power in our homes. We rely on it heavily for day-to-day life. It runs the stove, HVAC unit, refrigerator, freezer, water heater, washer and dryer, lighting, appliances, and television. Almost everything. Even with our great efforts to prepare for a lack of power during the storm, it was still terrible. Our home quickly became uncomfortable without electricity. It seemed we could do nothing. We need power. Standing amidst the mess, it hit me spiritually. We need the Holy Spirit at every moment of our lives. We can’t do anything good without Him; we’d be uncomfortable, cold, and powerless. Intersecting Faith & Life: As a saved person, I’m deeply thankful for what Jesus did for me. I’m still in love with Him after many years as a Christian. But to be honest, I’m just beside myself that God also gave us the indwelling, powerful Holy Spirit to help us in life. He does so many things for us, including: Reveals Jesus Convicts us of sin Teaches us Reminds us Encourages us Protects us Guides us Warns us Gives us hope and spiritual gifts Tells us the truth Helps us pray Never leaves or forsakes us When a storm of life comes, whether it is a financial struggle, divorce, or the death of a loved one, we may be brought to our knees. The powerful Holy Spirit is with us in these hardships. He is our shelter when these storms blow through. Those difficult times show us just how much we need Him and rely on His power. They draw us into a deeper, more trusting relationship with our beloved Father. Father, thank You for giving us the powerful Holy Spirit to lead us through our lives. Helping us to grow closer to You and more like Jesus. In His name, Amen. Discover more Christian podcasts at lifeaudio.com and inquire about advertising opportunities at lifeaudio.com/contact-us.

There is a much bigger spiritual battle taking place beneath the surface.Women's sports, the rise of democratic socialism, government power, private property, public accountability, and the growing battle over truth all point to a culture moving further from biblical principles. Scripture has never been silent about justice, stewardship, personal responsibility, voluntary generosity, or the dangers of unchecked authority.Exodus, Acts, Corinthians, Isaiah, Samuel, and Thessalonians provide a biblical framework for understanding these issues while challenging believers to think beyond political talking points and examine today's events through the truth of God's Word.As culture continues to shift, Christians need discernment rooted in Scripture rather than opinions shaped by headlines. Truth does not change with public opinion, and God's Word remains the foundation for navigating an increasingly complex world.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LinkedIn admits it has an 'AI slop' problem LinkedIn has become infamous for cringey content, but with the rise of AI, the posts are getting out of control. And LinkedIn knows it's a problem. It's so bad that LinkedIn now has a button to report a post for seeming like AI slop. Yes, that is the real label. They say people come to LinkedIn to connect with real people, who share their real perspectives, ideas, and expertise. That does not mean they want to see something they could ask AI themselves! In an amusing case of irony, LinkedIn has pulled down its own "Enhance your post with AI" feature. The AI industry spent the week arguing with itself, which is honestly the healthiest thing it's done in years. One coalition led by Nvidia begged regulators not to slow down open AI models, while more than 1,100 AI workers signed another letter asking regulators to do exactly that. Anthropic warned about bioweapons, OpenAI admitted the four-hour workweek isn't happening after all, and Microsoft's Satya Nadella reminded everyone that building your entire business on someone else's AI is a fantastic way to outsource your own brain. In other words, the people selling the future still can't agree on what they're selling, except that you'd better buy it fast.Meanwhile, the AI bubble keeps demanding sacrifices. Patreon, BuzzFeed, and Uber all swung the layoff axe while insisting AI isn't replacing humans... it's just reorganizing them out of a paycheck. Nvidia is floating another three-quarters of a trillion dollars in infrastructure deals that have people muttering "AI subprime mortgage crisis," China has discovered there's money in renting your face to AI companies, and the U.S. is carving data centers out of pollution rules because apparently acid rain is a small price to pay for chatbot dominance. Add in ChatGPT suddenly refusing to imitate famous authors, researchers discovering AI coding assistants are happily installing malware if you ask nicely, and Meta launching an ad campaign about the wonders of AI that somehow forgets to mention what any of those wonders actually are.Elsewhere in Tech Hell™, eBay finally paid the price for its executives' unhinged harassment campaign involving pig masks and live insects, Elon is shopping The Boring Company while promising money won't matter in the AI utopia of 2036, and a traveler is headed to court after allegedly triggering GrapheneOS's "duress PIN" during a border search. We also hit Media Candy with Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Silo, Blade Runner 2099 and Neuromancer, celebrate Dave Bittner's birthday, marvel at Jason's ever-growing Boneyard of dead websites, and somehow end up discussing thermal cameras, piano repair, and old-man bladder supplements. Rick Fisher and Gordon Chang discuss reports that China is transferring hundreds of advanced QW-12 and FN-16 man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS) to Iran via Hong Kong intermediaries. Fisher warns this poses a significant threat to US aircraft in the Strait of Hormuz. Chang advocates for reimposing sanctions on Hong Kong. The transfer, which China denies, represents a major escalation and highlights China's ongoing role in arming US adversaries like North Korea and Pakistan. (2)1944 TOKYO STATION
You might think the win on a GLP-1 like Ozempic or Mounjaro is the number dropping on your scale, but I need you to ask a better question, not how much you're losing, but what kind. In some studies, 40 to 60% of the weight people lost on these drugs came from lean muscle, not fat, and that's a metabolic loss that costs you your strength and your ability to keep the weight off. These are the most powerful fat-loss tools we've ever had, but a tool without a protocol is just potential. Hit your protein and lift, or you're trading muscle for a number you'll spend years trying to earn back. The future of California's ranching industry may depend as much on the next generation as it does on markets and weather. That was one of the central themes during a recent episode of the AgNet News Hour, where Rick Roberti, president of the California Cattlemen's Association, discussed the challenges facing family ranches and why attracting young people back to agriculture is becoming increasingly difficult. Roberti, whose family has ranched in Sierra Valley for six generations, said many of the issues facing producers today are similar to those that prompted the creation of the California Cattlemen's Association more than a century ago. While markets and policies have evolved, he said the organization's mission remains the same: advocating for California ranchers. One of Roberti's biggest concerns is whether younger generations will choose to continue farming and ranching. "I think getting the next generation to stay on the farm or stay on the ranch is going to be difficult because our culture has changed so much," Roberti said. He pointed to changing lifestyles, technology and shifting priorities as factors making agriculture a more difficult career path to attract young people. At the same time, he emphasized that producing food remains one of the country's most essential industries and requires dedicated producers willing to make long-term investments. Roberti also discussed the financial pressures facing California agriculture, noting that producers compete against imported products while operating under some of the nation's most stringent environmental and labor regulations. He said those factors have made it increasingly difficult for American producers to compete on price. "We're importing so much more food," Roberti said. "We have to change some rules so that we're put on an even playing field again." The conversation also turned to California's water resources. Roberti argued that the state has sufficient water but needs improved forest management, storage and infrastructure to better capture and deliver it where it is needed. He cited examples from his own region where wildfire and overgrown forests have reduced watershed efficiency, saying better management could improve both water supplies and forest health. Beyond policy discussions, Roberti stressed the importance of educating consumers about where their food comes from and helping younger generations understand the value of agriculture. For California's ranching community, he said the goal is simple: ensure family operations remain viable so future generations have the opportunity—and the desire—to continue producing food. Waking up to the toxic load built into lives we were told are common, safe, and totally normal can feel frightening. Everyday microplastics, seed oils, and even toxic people quietly drain your energy. Learn the small changes that protect your peace and health. What I've learned in 20 years is that a good life is rarely built in one dramatic overhaul. It grows through small, deliberate acts of self-respect. When perfectionism takes the wheel, we freeze or burn out. Channel that fear into grounded action, trust your own authority, and make one cleaner choice today. Anatol Lieven warns the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East are converging into a global energy crisis, with refined oil products like diesel in short supply. Ukrainian drone attacks have severely damaged Russia's refining capacity, while US refineries struggle to keep pace. Leadership instability in Kyiv, including the dismissal of the defense minister, further complicates the war effort. Meanwhile, Houthi threats against Saudi tankers jeopardize the world's ability to secure reliable oil exports. (13)1918

Saudi Arabia has rejected the "additional protocol" for rigorous UN inspections, raising concerns about their true intentions.
