Obwohl im Verlauf der Geschichte nicht viel passiert — das zentrale Element ist ein Mord — schafft es das Buch, die Spannung konstant zu halten. Ich beschreibe, wie es mir ergeht, wenn ich darüber nachdenke, ob ich ebenfalls in ein Netz aus Lügen geraten könnte oder ob ich in der schwierigen Lage, in der sich Jane befindet, ähnliche Entscheidungen treffen würde. Ich teile meine Gedanken, dass ich es bevorzuge, mich von Konflikten zurückzuziehen, anstatt sie noch weiter zu eskalieren. Das Buch schafft es, eine düstere Atmosphäre aufzubauen, die mich auch emotional herausgefordert hat. Ich erforsche die verschiedenen Reaktionen, die ein solches Werk hervorrufen kann — es scheint zwei Lager zu geben, die einen lieben es, andere können damit nicht umgehen. Ich persönlich konnte das Buch nicht einfach beiseitelegen, auch wenn ich ihm nur in kleinen Häppchen begegnen konnte. Mit jeder gelesenen Seite wurde ich mehr gefesselt und frage die Zuhörer, welches Gefühl "Sieben Lügen" bei ihnen auslösen könnte.
