Bible Discussion: God's design for marriage is radically different from the world's. While the world says marriage is about personal happiness and teaches us to leave when our needs aren't met, God says marriage is about serving. According to the Bible, love is defined by submission, sacrifice, and selflessness—doing what your spouse desires, not because they've earned it, but because it honors God. Husbands are called to love their wives as Christ loves the church, and wives are called to serve and support their husbands like the Proverbs 31 woman—not based on fairness, but faithfulness.  True marital joy flows from mutual service, not as a transaction but as a covenant. When both spouses seek to meet each other's needs without withholding or complaining, they create a marriage that glorifies God. Serving one another is not weakness; it is the fuel that produces a happy marriage.   Partner with Us: https://churchforentrepreneurs.com/partner Connect with Us: https://churchforentrepreneurs.com

Marriage is not easy. Adding kids into the mix makes it even more challenging. It's not surprising that between two-thirds and one-half of all marriages in the US end in divorce. This week Kari and I will celebrate 26 years of marriage and we are as happy and as solidly connected as we've ever been. Here are what I believe are five key ingredients to a successful marriage, plus a bonus ingredient. When was the last time you saw an example of a happy marriage in the media? I discuss the negative portrayal of marriage in modern media and the cultural shift away from positive representations. Have you noticed how—especially here in the Western world—we crave simplicity and speed?“3 Easy Steps to Lose Weight.”“6 Secrets to a Happy Marriage.”“12 Steps to Financial Freedom.”We're drawn to whatever promises quick results with minimal discomfort. But when it comes to the Kingdom of God—especially when it comes to seeing with spiritual eyes—it doesn't work that way. There are no shortcuts. No life hacks. Because spiritual sight doesn't come through information—it comes through transformation. It's born in the presence of God. It grows through abiding. And it matures in those who linger with Him when others move on.Today, in Part III of Do You Want the Red Pill or the Blue Pill, Steve shares his personal journey into this kind of sight—not as a formula, but as a relationship. A life lived close to God, where clarity comes not through steps, but through staying. But let me say this—What you'll hear today is more than reflection. It's preparation. Because in Part IV, we'll begin to explore why this kind of vision is so urgently needed. Why Jesus warned us about the Days of Noah...and why only those who truly abide will recognize what's happening in our time. But for now, let's begin where all true sight begins:In His presence. I know the journey to a healthier, more connected marriage can feel slow. Sometimes it feels like you're doing the work, showing up differently, choosing patience, and yet… nothing seems to change.Maybe your spouse still reacts the same way. Maybe old patterns resurface. Maybe you wonder if all this effort is even worth it.I want you to stop for a moment. Breathe. And hear this: The work you are doing matters.Even if you can't see the full transformation yet.Even if your spouse hasn't changed in the way you hoped.Even if you've stumbled along the way.Healing and growth don't happen in an instant. They happen in the quiet, unseen moments—the ones where you choose to listen instead of react, where you pause before frustration takes over, where you remind yourself that change is a process, not a destination. And if you've put the work down—if you've felt discouraged and stopped trying—it's not too late to pick it back up.Because here's the truth: Every small effort is shaping the marriage you'll have a year from now.Think about that for a moment. What if, a year from now, you could look back and see that your patience, your persistence, your choice to keep going—despite the setbacks—created a deeper, more loving, more secure connection than you ever thought possible? It's not just possible—it's inevitable if you commit to the process. So today, I want to encourage you:Keep going, even if the change feels slow.Keep choosing love, even when it's hard.Keep believing in the marriage you desire, because it is within reach. And if you need support in this process—if you need someone to help you stay the course—I'd love to have a Courageous Love Conversation with you.You don't have to do this alone.CBS News Interview: 6 Tips For A Healthy & Loving RelationshipUnlock deeper connection in your marriage with my free guide, Daily Prompts for Deeper Connection with Your Spouse—get it now! Have you ever wished your spouse would just see their part? You try to talk about the struggles in your marriage, hoping they'll acknowledge how their actions (or inactions) are affecting you. But instead, they dismiss it. Defend themselves. Maybe even turn it back on you. And you're left feeling unheard, unseen, and like you're carrying the weight of the relationship all by yourself.I know that feeling. I lived it.For years, I felt like I was the one always reflecting, always working, always trying to figure things out—while Jeff seemed… fine. It wasn't that he didn't care, but he wasn't seeing his part in our struggles. And because of that, I stayed in a protective stance, bracing myself for disappointment.Until something shifted. For the first time, Jeff admitted his own brokenness in a way I had never heard before. And in that moment, something inside me changed. My body relaxed. My heart softened. And I felt a sense of safety I didn't even realize I was craving. So I sat down with Jeff for an open, honest conversation about what changed. Why was it so hard for him to admit his own struggles before? What was actually going on inside of him when he resisted seeing his part? And what finally helped him get to a place where he could take ownership?I didn't hold back in this conversation, and neither did he.If you've ever wondered why your spouse doesn't seem to see their own contribution to the disconnection, or if you've been waiting (and waiting) for them to finally get it, this episode is one you need to hear.CBS News Interview: 6 Tips For A Healthy & Loving RelationshipUnlock deeper connection in your marriage with my free guide, Daily Prompts for Deeper Connection with Your Spouse—get it now! Love is the foundation of a happy and enduring home. However, a house is not merely the foundation only. On top of that foundation are the walls of trust and commitment. These walls contain within the house such elements (and interior dressings) as fondness and admiration, turning towards each other (not away), maintaining a positive outlook, properly managing conflict, making life dreams come true (together), and creating shared meaning. The challenges faced in marriage, however, are often the result of Marital Myths. Connect with me --> https://drmatmonharrell.bio.link/Written by Dr. Matmon HarrellReferences Carr, D., Freedman, V., Cornman, J., & Schwarz, N. When was the last time you and your partner truly laughed together—like a real, bellyaching, joyful laugh? Or when did you last feel that spark that brought you together in the first place? Last week, my husband and I were out at dinner, and I noticed a couple seated near us, barely looking at each other. Both were glued to their phones, completely disconnected. It broke my heart because I could see the distance between them, even though they were sitting just a foot apart, and then it hit me—this is happening everywhere. It's easy to fall into this trap, even unintentionally. Today, we're diving into the one powerful habit that happy, thriving marriages prioritize, and no—it's not some over-the-top romantic gesture or grand vacation. It's something simple, intentional, and completely achievable, even in the busiest of our lives. You'll feel inspired to reflect on your relationship, encouraged to take small but meaningful actions, and equipped with simple strategies to reconnect with your partner in ways that truly matter. I would like for you to try and commit to one small intentional step to prioritize your marriage this week. It could be a connection check-in, a laughter-filled date night, or even just putting your phone down during dinner. Ready to transform your relationship, one small step at a time? Let's get started!  With Gratitude, Nancy

After surviving incarceration and forced incestuous marriage during the worst violence of the French Revolution of 1789, they dared sartorial revolt. Together, Joséphine and Térézia shed the underwear cages and massive, rigid garments that women had been obliged to wear for centuries. They slipped into light, mobile dresses, cropped their hair short, wrapped themselves in shawls, and championed the handbag. Juliette made the new style stand for individual liberty. The erotic audacity of these fashion revolutionaries conquered Europe, starting with Napoleon. Everywhere a fashion magazine could reach, women imitated the news coming from Paris. It was the fastest and most total change in clothing history. Two centuries ahead of its time, it was rolled back after only a decade by misogynist rumors of obscene extravagance. New evidence allows the real fashion revolution to be told. Two-and-a-half years later, on a beach on the island of Hawaii, Cook was killed in a conflict with native Hawaiians. How did Cook, who was unique among captains for his respect for Indigenous peoples and cultures, come to that fatal moment? Hampton Sides' bravura account of Cook's last journey both wrestles with Cook's legacy and provides a thrilling narrative of the titanic efforts and continual danger that characterized exploration in the 1700s. Cook was renowned for his peerless seamanship, his humane leadership, and his dedication to science-–the famed naturalist Joseph Banks accompanied him on his first voyage, and Cook has been called one of the most important figures of the Age of Enlightenment. He was also deeply interested in the native people he encountered. In fact, his stated mission was to return a Tahitian man, Mai, who had become the toast of London, to his home islands. On previous expeditions, Cook mapped huge swaths of the Pacific, including the east coast of Australia, and initiated first European contact with numerous peoples. He treated his crew well, and endeavored to learn about the societies he encountered with curiosity and without judgment. Yet something was different on this last voyage. Cook became mercurial, resorting to the lash to enforce discipline, and led his two vessels into danger time and again. Uncharacteristically, he ordered violent retaliation for perceived theft on the part of native peoples. This may have had something to do with his secret orders, which were to chart and claim lands before Britain's imperial rivals could, and to discover the fabled Northwest Passage. Whatever Cook's intentions, his scientific efforts were the sharp edge of the colonial sword, and the ultimate effects of first contact were catastrophic for Indigenous people around the world. The tensions between Cook's overt and covert missions came to a head on the shores of Hawaii. His first landing there was harmonious, but when Cook returned after mapping the coast of the Pacific Northwest and Alaska, his exploitative treatment of the Hawaiians led to the fatal encounter. Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse interviews Ambassador Eduard Habsburg about his new book, Building a Wholesome Family Life in a Broken World. They discuss the importance of chastity, the role of faith in marriage, and the qualities to look for in a spouse, drawing on lessons from Habsburg family history. The conversation emphasizes the need for a stable family environment for children and the significance of commitment in relationships.   Amb. Habsburg, also known as Archduke Eduard of Austria, is a Hungarian diplomat and Hungary's ambassador to the Holy See and the Sovereign Order of Malta. His family reigned in Austria, Hungary, Germany, Spain (and quite a few other places). He and his wife, Baroness Maria Theresia von Gudenus, have six children. Eduard is the author of several books, including the children's book Dubbie: The Double-Headed Eagle; volumes on Thomas Aquinas, James Bond, and Harry Potter; as well as novels and screenplays.   Watch our first interview with the ambassador: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nq15YSxe8QA   Please support us by making a purchase of the ambassador's books! Do you have a tendency to repeat reminders to those closest to you? Perhaps you feel like you're constantly asking your husband to get off the couch or urging your kids to clean their rooms. While your intentions are good, your delivery may be perceived as nagging. In this episode of Smart Living with Grit and Grace, Darlene Brock and Julie Bender dive into the prickly topic of nagging. It's something many of us would like to think we don't do, but we often innocently fall into the habit. They share the tell-tale signs of nagging, how to uncover the root cause of our repeated requests, and the way we can more clearly and kindly communicate them to those we care about. Quote of the episode: "It is better to live in a desert land than with a quarrelsome and fretful woman." —Proverbs 21:19 Resources Related "Marriage Advice That Will Change Things More Than You Think..."
