On today's episode, ERLC President-Elect, Dr. Evan Lenow speaks with Todd Unzicker about this ongoing partnership to save lives. On May 8, North Carolina Baptists joined the ERLC in a milestone dedication by placing the Psalm 139 Project's 100th ultrasound machine at Mercy House Pregnancy Resource Center in Elizabethtown, North Carolina. In this message from Colossians 3:1–17, we explore what it means to “set your mind on things above” instead of getting stuck on earthly patterns of thinking. The sermon walks through three big themes: • The motivation for the Christian mind: our lives are “hidden with Christ in God,” and salvation changes what we dwell on. • Putting to death the earthly mind: Paul calls us to cut off old patterns like anger, malice, lust, greed, slander, and lying. • The marks of the heavenly mind: compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, love—and forgiving one another just as the Lord forgave you.A practical takeaway is simple but challenging: what you put into your mind shapes what comes out (“garbage in, garbage out”). As God's Word dwells richly in us, it reshapes our thoughts—and then our words, actions, relationships, and witness. If you're wrestling with what's been on your mind—stress, conflict, bitterness, temptation, or distraction—this passage is a clear call to daily choose a renewed mindset in Christ.Scripture: Colossians 3:1–17Key verse: “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” (Col. 3:2)Connect with First Baptist Starkville: https://bit.ly/3M4mHnkSubscribe to see our latest sermons: https://bit.ly/3DxRyjHSupport this ministry and our work in Starkville, MS: https://bit.ly/44muvW0Connect with First Baptist Starkville: https://bit.ly/3M4mHnkSubscribe to see our latest sermons: https://bit.ly/3DxRyjHSupport this ministry and our work in Starkville, MS: https://bit.ly/44muvW0

Ethics as Worship examines the biblical, theological, and philosophical foundations and application of Christian ethics, offering an ethical system that emphasizes the worship of God as motivation, method, and goal of the ethical endeavor. It concludes with an exploration of how worship ought to shape a response to particular ethical topics and issues most relevant in our day: from race, justice, and environmental ethics, to sexuality, reproductive technologies, and other important issues related to life and death. Our Sunday night Ethics As Worship workshop has been such an great help in equipping the church in not only better understanding difficult ethical topics, but also in teaching the church how to handle those hard discussions surrounding numerous issues facing us today. Evan Lenow, along with Steve Taylor, join the podcast today to discuss some follow-up points from a recent session.
Mississippi College's Director of Church and Minister Relations, our very own Evan Lenow, drops by to discuss his new book and upcoming workshop, Ethics As Worship. As believers, it is important that we strive to understand and apply the Bible biblically and thoughtfully. Evan points out that every aspect of our life is an expression of worship and should point others to Christ. Our actions and behaviors are more than simply doing the right thing, but also to be who God created us to be and bring glory to Him. We hope you will join us as we kick off this brand new workshop and learn to make every day, real life application of what the Scriptures teach us.
Staying busy during difficult times can get the creativity flowing and allow for some special family times. Evan Lenow shares with us an update on his family, his book (did you know he was a writer?), and his confidence in God's perfect timing.
