This passage continues the theme of walking like a Christian. And that means understanding the will of God, and doing what we can to fill up every corner of our life with the fullness of Jesus. Pastor Kevin Craft

Today we will reflect on Ephesians 5:1-21, Be Filled with the Spirit. In this chapter Paul focuses on being imitators of God by living as His children and living with love towards each other. We are challenged to a way of thanks-living. He contrasts the ways of darkness with being light in the Lord, thus echoing back to Jesus' call to be the light of the world. Paul then calls us to live as wise followers of Jesus rather than unwise. We have a choice. Who are you going to be ?
Ephesians 5:18Romans 8:141 Samuel 10:10John 14:15-17, 26
Ephesians Part 18 (Eph 5:15-21) The seventh, and final, Walk in Ephesians has three parts to it: wisdom, understanding, and being filled by the Spirit. Then there is a link to singing which is interesting and important.
In this message we'll review Ephesians 5 and Galatians 5, among other passages, to define the filling of the Holy Spirit, and ascertain the notable evidence of a Christian who is walking in daily yield to the Spirit's work.

Come Holy Spirit. One of the ancient prayers of the church is a short and simple, yet profoundly powerful prayer. It has been prayed in catacombs, cathedrals and chapels throughout the centuries and it is our prayer for Gateway in 2023. Come Holy Spirit, open our eyes to see Jesus and fall in love with Him afresh. Come Holy Spirit, nourish our soul and release your power. Come Holy Spirit, help us to hear the Father's voice and fill us with hope for the future. Come Holy Spirit, stir our hearts for the lost and give us faith for revival in our nation in our generation. If you would like prayer at any time, we would love to pray with you. “Being filled by the Spirit” means that believers are dominated in their minds with the doctrines of Christ rather than the debauchery of the world (Eph. 5:18).

We explain how being filled by the Holy Spirit is not a spatial issue but a relational issue. We show from the Old Testament that God's shekinah glory given to Israel did not mean God failed to be omnipresent. In other words, God's shekinah glory was not a spatial issue, but this glory showed that Israel uniquely had a saving relationship with God

Joe was an Olympic high diver. He was with his friend, Bob in California who had built this big in-door swimming pool with a very high diving board. Bob was a Christian and he had been praying for his friend, Joe, to accept Jesus as his personal Savior. At about midnight Joe couldn't sleep. So, he decided he would go out and practice some dives. He went out to the pool and the moon was shining through the windows, so he didn't turn on any lights. He went way up to the highest board. He stretched his arms out and as he looked down, he saw a cross. He stepped back and he couldn't figure it out. He stepped forward again, put his arms out and there was a cross again. He then got down and went down to the pool and he looked. And to his surprise, there was no water in the pool, because it was being repaired. The moon had made him look like a cross down below. It dawned on him that he was saved by the reflection of the cross. His heart was touched, and he knelt right then and there and gave his heart to God. If it would not have been for his friend's prayers and the reflection of the cross that night, he would have lost his life. This week we turn our attention to our prayer lives. We Pray on.

What are the results of being filled by means of the Holy Spirit- Listen to this lesson to hear the Apostle Paul's comparison of being rip-roaring drunk from being filled with too much wine in contrast with our behavior when we are filled with the Word of God by means of the Holy Spirit. Understand that when we are filled with the Word of God our behavior is influenced in a way that pleases God.
What in the world does it mean to be filled by the Holy Spirit- Listen to this message to hear three different views on this and find out which one is biblically correct. See that the filling of the Holy Spirit only refers to those who trust Jesus Christ as their Savior. Find out the first view and that is is only a minority view. See why it is wrong to pray for more of the Holy Spirit. Learn what we are filled with by means of the Holy Spirit and that it involves learning God's Word, walking by means of the Spirit, and seeing the Holy Spirit transform our lives.
Guest minister Ps Ben Naitoko brings a message encouraging us how we can be filled by the Spirit of God to be the territory takers He has called us to be.

Join us as we continue our verse by verse look at Paul's letter to the Ephesians. In this passage we look at the sometimes controversial topic of drinking alcohol. Does the Bible prohibit it- Does the Bible allow it- Paul uses drunkenness as an example to show us what not to do in the spiritual life in this passage giving us an important lesson about how to successfully live the life of faith as a believer in Jesus Christ.

Each Christian is unique, blessed with individual gifts, abilities, and interests. Yet our Lord Jesus has bound us together by the Holy Spirit. Working through Sacrament and Word, the Spirit fills our hearts with the only faith that saves as together we drink the life-giving water he freely provides and testify to the name of the Savior.

This week Pastor Chris Clemons from The Way of Life Church in Pearland teaches us about what it means to be filled by the Spirit. Heights Baptist Church is proud to partner with and support The Way of Life Church in Pearland.
Scripture is clear that when we give our lives to Jesus we receive His Spirit, the Holy Spirit. As post-Pentecost, new covenant belivers, we are filled with the fullness of God's temple presence (1 Cor. 3:16). In light of that, why does Paul command believers to be continually filled by the Spirit in Ephesians 5:18? How can we be full of the Holy Spirit but also continually filled by the Spirit? Is this a contradiction? Or is there a rich paradox waiting to be explored! I believe the latter. Let's explore this great question! Like the podcast?
