He did nothing to have her stopped or removed from the home once she began her ministry to Jesus. Rather, he gloated at this further proof that Jesus could not be a prophet, since He didn't seem to know who and what she was. In His part, Jesus wanted to use this woman's ministry as an opportunity to follow up on His judgments concerning that generation of people who resisted and resented the preaching of the Kingdom of God. During this visit, He confronts Simon with his arrogance, and illustrates for him how a transformed life responds to the salvation that has been granted, by faith. Simon's heart is unchanged. The gospel has been rejected again. The Messiah is resented. His message of salvation by faith instead of works is rejected again. How long, O Lord, will this be tolerated?
