The Lord's Prayer aligns us with God's own heart. Its first declaration is for the hallowing of God's name. How does this drive us deeper into the heart of God's desire and our chief purpose in life?
Each of us, deep in our hearts, has a desire to communicate with God. As young adults in our world today, we see the need-and we have the desire-to have a great prayer life. But how can we know our prayers are actually being heard and answered? Jesus in The Lord's Prayer teaches us how.To kick off this new series, we look at the prologue and first request of the model prayer Jesus gives us. It's when we first know who we're talking to that we then know what to ask for. When we know God is our loving Father, and we want His Name to be honored among all creation, we can know our prayers will be answered. We can communicate with the God of the Universe, who will listen to and answer our prayers. We hope you're encouraged by this podcast! “Hallowed Be Your Name” Matthew 6:9-15 August 25, 2024 Pastor Tony Felich ----more---- Matthew 6:9 Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. [10] Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. [11] Give us this day our daily bread, [12] and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. [13] And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [14] For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, [15] but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. We are praying for God's help to hallow and glorify Him in our thoughts, words, and deeds. God is to be Hallowed because: • He is Holy in his person • He is Holy by his creation • He is Holy by his redemption With God's help, we are to hallow Him in our: • Thoughts • Words • Deeds

Waymond Hampton teaches through "hallowed be your name" in our series on the Lord's Prayer. He starts with the story of God revealing his name to his people at the Exodus, and paints of picture of how "hallowed be your name" is a call to come under the beautiful authority of "our Father in heaven". Just as Jesus submitted to his Father's will in all things, we are called to submit as well - by not allowing any other name to be hallowed in our lives and by laying down divisions and partisanship for the sake of others.
This Sunday in our prayer series, In Jesus Name, David Chan explores the first line of the Lord's Prayer with four keys to expand our understanding of prayer. Jesus taught his followers to pray, reminding us that prayer isn't about "vain repetitions" (Matthew 6:7) or checking off a box but rather connecting with Our Father.
Retreat 2024 Session 1 Theme: “This, Then, Is How You Should Pray, Part 2" Mt6:9-13; Jn14:13 Our Father In Heaven, Hallowed Be Your Name
"Hallowed" is a word we don't use often in our day-to-day lives. So what does it mean for us to pray that God's name be hallowed? What is God's name?
When we pray, we recognize God for who He is, our Heavenly Father. In this manner, therefore, pray:Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.Your kingdom come.Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.- Matthew 6:9-13 TPTAfter we recognize who He is, we honour and bless who He is.For you, O Lord, are supreme over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods.- Psalm 97:9 NLTHallowed Be His Name! God is supreme over all the Earth. He is Healer (Psalm 103:2-3); He is the King of Kings (Revelation 17:14); He is Merciful and Compassionate (Psalm 145:8-9); He is our Strong Fortress (2 Samuel 22:33); He is Great (Psalm 147:4-5); He is Love (1 John 4:8).This is the God we pray to. Blessing you this week to see God in new and exciting ways!P.S. If you want to meditate on the names of God, check out episodes 374-416 of our Names of God series.
