Welcome to the Personal Development Trailblazers Podcast! In this episode, we dive into the power of animal communication and horsemanship. Anna Twinney has been sought out by zoos, sanctuaries, rescues, and people from all walks of life, including celebrities and the medical and veterinarian communities alike. Whether it be through private sessions, live and online classes, or her Animal Communication Mentorship program, her message of giving a voice to the voiceless has been heard on almost every continent. Anna's practice and her classes are founded in her ability to and the importance of relating specific, verifiable, and extremely helpful information. She became known for the many hats she would wear and her ability to connect with all species as a trustworthy linguist, behaviorist, medical intuitive, healer, mediator, life and business coach, minister and medium. With more than 10,000 consultations and over 200 hours of educational materials, the Ultimate Animal Communication Mentorship Course was launched. Before she embarked down the path of Animal Communication, Anna was a Police Officer with the British Constabulary. The philosophy within the British justice system is that violence should not be met with violence and as such clear communication is key. Anna trained extensively as an expert in her field holding many positions from the support of victims to the understanding of the criminal mind. The art of reading people's movements, behavior patterns, and understanding their agendas, coupled with listening to their perspectives Anna created a unique, highly compassionate, direct and effective style of conversation and interview that allows her to share the animals' messages with their human companions. An ability to read "in between the lines", gave her a unique understanding and capability that carried over into her Animal Communication. In 1997 Anna followed the call of the horses and was eventually recognized as one of the top 5% in her field as a natural horse woman. She became the first head instructor and board member of the Monty Roberts International Learning Center, opening doors for thousands of national and international students to the world of natural horsemanship. Her love and connection to the animal kingdom inspired Anna to expand her work from Natural Horsemanship to animal communication with all species. Now, along with her work as an Animal Communicator, her company, Reach Out to Horses, leads the horse whispering movement into the next generation incorporating telepathy and energy work as integral parts of her methodology. Anna is a contributing author to two books and a variety of national and international magazines, publications, and websites including Equine Wellness, Holistic Horse and Natural Horse, Horse's Hoof and Horsemanship Journal and Western Horse UK, just to name a few. She has launched over a dozen educational programs including Animal Communication: The Journey Within and the original Reiki: Energy Healing for Horses. Her work can be seen on international TV, video streaming services, and on her own YouTube channel - youtube.com/ReachOutToHorses. Anna has been featured on U.S. and international television, radio and internet programs, including Chinese State TV, FEI TV, Martha Stewart's Living, the BBC fly on the wall documentary Living in the Sun and the French TV Program, Echappées Belles. When the whispers of the heart align with the gentle nuzzle of a horse, something magical occurs. On our latest podcast, we're honored to have Theodora, a seer and healer who opens our eyes to the deep emotional bond between humans and horses. Her insights shed light on the often overlooked communication cues these majestic beings offer, and the transformative healing that can happen when we truly connect with them. Theodora takes us on a journey through her experiences, highlighting the importance of heart coherence and a regulated nervous system in building a foundation of trust and peace with our equine companions.Ever wondered what your horse is really thinking? Theodora, with her psychic abilities and mastery in Angelic Reiki, reveals the individual personalities and needs of horses in a way that transcends conventional training methods. Each story she shares in our conversation isn't just fascinating—it's a testament to the unique relationship formed when human meets horse. From grounding techniques that link these animals more closely to the earth to the tangible effects of energy work observed through a gamma camera, we discover the science behind the spiritual and the profound impact of unconditional love channeled from both Mother Earth and higher powers.Concluding our heart-stirring episode, we ponder the ethical implications of competitive horse training and the power each of us holds to initiate change within the industry. It's a contemplation of how even the smallest acts of kindness and understanding toward horses can ignite a broader movement towards their better treatment. As Theodora shares her vision for a more empathic world, we're reminded of the collective journey we're all on. It's a path that asks for more empathy, more kindness, and a deeper appreciation for our relationships with all creatures—with the hope that this episode has left you inspired to be part of that change.Theodora's Website: https://seerhealerguide.co.uk/Support the showLink to Support this Channel: https://www.buzzsprout.com/2153284/supporters/newJulie's Book: https://amzn.to/3K2ZS05Julie's Website for more information, comments or requests: https://lifeofloveandjoy.comPromo Code for Free Audio Book on Audible: https://amzn.to/45YUMdHMy Book: Life of Love a Joyful Guide to Self and Sensuality
In this episode with farrier Kendra Skorstad, our conversation covers my many (and maybe yours too!) hoof-related questions from both the perspective of horse steward and body worker, including the interplay between horses' posture, body, and the health of their feet, as well as specific inquiries surrounding navicular, high-low syndrome and heel first landings. It was so refreshing and affirming to hear how Kendra approaches hoofcare from a holistic and horse-first perspective, where making choices such as whether to go barefoot, wear metal shoes or use other tools such as composite shoes or boots are made based on the needs of each individual horse. I hope you enjoy our conversation full of interesting tidbits as much as I did - the possibility for fascinating rabbit holes here was endless, so we covered a lot of ground and had some fun doing it. Kendra Skorstad brings artistry, science, and her love for horses together in her life long career as a farrier and horsewoman. She is highly sought after in her community due to her experiences as a barefoot trimmer and farrier combined with proficiency using new technologies and alternative materials for hoof protection. In her teamwork approach, she embraces a balance between research based work and honoring the individuality of each horse. She has published articles, gives clinics and lectures in the US and has lectured internationally, is a guest speaker for the University of Guelph and has been featured in podcasts for The Plaid Horse, The Humble Hoof, and Patrick King Horsemanship. I am delighted to bring you the second episode of the Healing Horses with Elisha podcast today! Significant differences exist between the holistic and allopathic health models, and both have their merits. However, when making decisions, it is essential to grasp the reasons behind your choices and how they will impact your horse to ensure the best possible care and outcomes. In this episode, we explore the principles of holistic horse health, understanding why they are crucial and how they shape our decisions. Join me as we embark on this journey to empower your choices and enhance the health and wellness of your horse!Holistic Horse Health Principles: Body, Mind, and SpiritIn the holistic model, it is essential to consider every aspect of the horse, encompassing body, mind, and spirit. Often in the horse world, we encounter physical symptoms, such as skin conditions with underlying emotional stress and other factors like laminitis. Although it is easy to separate each issue, the holistic approach recognizes the interconnectedness of body, mind, and spirit in equine health.Addressing All Dimensions By addressing all dimensions simultaneously, we can better understand and treat the root causes of issues rather than just their symptoms. Each Horse is Unique: Individualized CareNo two horses are exactly alike. Each horse possesses a unique genetic blueprint, history of stressors, stress tolerance, and nutrition history. Some may have experienced malnutrition or chronic infections, leading to varying degrees of nutrient deficiencies and toxicity levels.A successful holistic approachA successful holistic approach recognizes those individual differences and tailors care plans accordingly. Standardizing horse healthcare for all would be impractical. That is why effective health strategies for horses are customized to suit the specific needs of each horse.Identifying Underlying Causes: Stress, Nutrition, ToxicityWith holistic equine health, we must uncover and address the underlying causes of health challenges. Stress, a common culprit, can manifest as various physical issues such as laminitis, skin conditions, or immune system problems. Nutrient deficiencies are prevalent, especially in horses on hay diets, and toxicity can accumulate over time from medications, infections, and environmental factors.Targeting the Underlying CausesRecognizing and targeting those underlying causes is essential for effective holistic care and preventing chronic conditions.Holistic Modalities for Equine HealthThere are several holistic modalities to improve horse health, including dietary adjustments, lifestyle changes, emotional health support, proper hoof care, therapeutic nutrition, herbal remedies, homeopathy, energy work, and bodywork like Reiki and acupuncture. Holistic approaches tap into the physical intelligence of the horse, which orchestrates a multitude of bodily functions to maintain health.Chronic ConditionsChronic conditions often result from dietary and lifestyle factors, making proactive nutritional changes crucial. Symptoms are expressions of imbalance, and disease signals an opportunity to restore equilibrium, highlighting the importance of early intervention.Viewing Disease as a Communication ToolRather than viewing disease as a disaster, it is valuable to consider it as the way a horse communicates that something is amiss. Early signs of imbalance might go unnoticed, but the physical chemistry begins to shift long before any visible symptoms emerge. Recognizing those signals and taking immediate action to improve nutrition, reduce stress, and eliminate toxins can prevent or manage many equine health issues.Taking

Interview with April Love - www.holistichorseworks.com I'm very pleased to announce an interview with April Love from Holistic Horse Works.I've been a follower of April for a while now so it was a real treat to have her on as a guest and learn more about her work and her passion for horses. She has skills in many areas and her work is not just aimed at the horse world, as her two legged human clients have experienced many benefits too but don't just take my word for it, April has many testimonials to validate her work and the great thing is she wants others to share in that experience too. So sit back, relax and I hope you enjoy this episode. April Love.Owner of Holistic Horse works LLC, April Love empowers horse lovers to take healing into their own hands in order to keep their horses healthy, happy, and rideable through their 30's while saving thousands of dollars on vet care. She has created a unique IICT (International Institute for Complementary Therapists) approved methodology that she teaches through in-person, hands-on clinics as well as virtual home study courses. April has also trained and vetted many instructors who share this practice worldwide. Early on in her horse riding, care, and training career, April noticed that many people were just treating the symptoms that the horses were experiencing, and not solving the root of their issues. Most of all, she noticed that many horses labeled “problem horses” were really just in some kind of pain or discomfort, and in each of their hearts, they really just wanted a partner who was willing to listen. After spending tens of thousands of dollars taking every horse care course she could find, April Love took her accumulated knowledge and blended it with her own unique insight in order to synthesise the Equine Musculoskeletal Unwinding, CranioSacral Unwinding & Advanced Applied Kinesiology, and Equine Cranial Decompression methodologies. These methods all offer a systematic approach to healing the horse's body that blends concepts of massage, reiki, bio-energy, and intuitive listening. She begins in conversation with the horse, asks them what they need, and compassionately waits for the answer. Afterward, she applies whatever techniques are most fitting at that time. The goal is to assist the horse's body in returning to a balanced and aligned state so that it can heal itself and function optimally, while also providing mental and emotional support. You can learn more about April Love and her unique work with horses by visiting www.holistichorseworks.com. When I choose people to come and work with my horses in any way, I look around for someone others highly recommend, then I check their credentials, and then I look for something else. What I look for is a complete passion, almost an obsession, for the work that they do. Someone who lights up when they talk about their work. Someone who can make you almost as excited as they are about the work that they do. And these people certainly see what they do almost as an honour, who feel blessed to be able to do so much to give back to horses in some way.In this episode I speak with Anna Minogue, who is an Equine Dentist, and Anna is one of those people I speak about above. In the interview you will hear the passion in her voice and if you miss it at all, just wait until we talk about brushing our horses teeth, that made her very excited indeed!I also chose to speak with Anna as she spent a long career initially as a vet nurse, so she lived in the word of pharmaceuticals and especially sedation in working with animals. Yet as an equine dentist she only uses sedation if she absolutely has to, every 200 horses or so. This really peaked my interest and I just had to speak with Anna to see how and why she made the transition to equine dentistry and how she is able to work so gently with horses doing what can be an invasive treatment for horses. She decided to get herself educated on horse behaviour and learned some techniques to help a horse feel at ease with her before putting a rasp in their mouth and waiting to see what would happen next! You will hear stories of some of the horses she has helped and how she loves our horses almost as much as we do. I certainly learned a lot in this conversation about horses teeth and the type of things to look for in my horses, as well as the questions to ask any dentist who I choose to work with my horses.I hope every horse out there gets an equine dentist with as much passion, knowledge and gentleness as Anna has.To find out more about Anna or to book her to work with your horse if you are in SE Qld, you will find her on her website and her Facebook Page
In our very first conversation here at Come Along for the Ride you will hear from Kirsty Hagger of Willowvale Spanish Mustangs who decided that she would be the first ever person, and so far, the only person ever, to import this critically endangered breed to the southern hemisphere. This is not only an incredible story about a woman who brought the first ever Spanish Mustang horses to Australia and is thus far still the only breeder here. It is also a story of transition from traditional dominant methods of horse training, to natural horsemanship, then to a very gentle way of training and being with horses where relationship and choice are paramount.I have 4 horses and when I asked the photographer to come and take photos for the cover of this podcast I thought that Gypsy’s mother, Kiowa would be the cover shot as she is so photogenic.Little did I know that Gypsy had other plans. She brought herself into position for the photo and proceeded to stare straight into the camera and gave us the shot we were after! It seems she had her own plans to get her face and the Spanish mustang breed known. So it seemed only fitting that the first ever podcast would be about this beautiful breed and Kirsty who was the first person to bring them to our shores.Kirsty speaks about her life with horses, the one horse, Woody, that changed everything for her when she was younger and who changed the way she trained all horses. She talks about her Australian Brumby Mare Sienna who made her change her ways even further to have to be so gentle as even looking at her was far too much pressure for this traumatised horse to handle. After years of seeing soundness and confirmation problems in many horses here in Australia, Kirsty came across the Spanish Mustang breed. This led her to a lifelong love and obsession with the breed. Kirsty tells us how she travelled across America and how she chose the horses, or rather how they chose her, who have been the foundation of her breeding stud here in Australia. She goes deep into the breed and the type of horse they are, the type of human you have to be to own one and the type of training they need in order to thrive. She also let’s us know the horses that she has up for sale at the moment, just in case you became as enamoured for the breed as I did when I first met them all those years ago.I have known Kirsty for many years and I am thrilled to be able to bring you her story. She is one of those people who is part horse, she is so gentle and kind with her horses and on her Facebook page you can read the incredible stories of her journey with the breed, how and why she trains them as she does and the results that she obtains. To find out more about Kirsty you can find her on her website or her Facebook pageI hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did.
While there are legions of talented female farriers around the globe, it remains a predominantly male profession. So, it’s especially fascinating that the Executive Director of The American Farriers Association happens to be a woman — who, having attended Mount Holyoke College and Yale School of Management, also happens to be incredibly well-educated. With terrific insight and a wonderful sense of humor, Elise’s guest today, Beth Daniels, takes the old adage, “No hoof, no horse,” to entirely new levels. Through her role with the AFA, Beth has helped to champion the critical need for a team approach between the horse owner, the equine vet, and the farrier to ensure the best possible care for horses. Utilizing cutting-edge materials, critical scientific research, and a vet-unified team approach, AFA is helping to tackle problems like navicular syndrome, laminitis, and other chronic conditions — to not only increase horses’ comfort, but also their longevity and athleticism. For Beth and the professional, international AFA members, it’s not just a job -- it's a genuine dedication to horses' well-being, marked by passion and devotion. Beth joins Elise today to discuss her role in the AFA, how she became Executive Director, where and when her love for horses began, the importance of farriers in equine health, and the personal characteristics vital to pursuing one's passion. Listen in to hear her perspective on horses, their health, and educating owners on the critical importance of developing a partnership between themselves, their vets, and their farriers. Topic of Discussion: [2:07] Beth’s path to becoming AFA’s Executive Director. [3:35] What Beth’s volunteer experiences have meant to her and the drive behind trying different roles. [5:00] Where Beth’s love of adventure began. [7:08] When Beth became interested in horses. [9:36] A funny interaction between Elise and a stranger. [11:06] A similar trait Beth has noticed as well, that parallels Elise’s story. [12:53] How Beth’s love of horses has guided the decisions she's made throughout her life. [15:18] The love of horses. [16:43] What Beth thinks about the debate of following one’s passion versus developing a more mainstream career. [21:44] The personal characteristics that are vital for pursuing one's passion.
