We've received a premonition of the future and we predict that you're about to listen to an hour and a bit of sci-fi and fantasy chat. Thanks to our pre-cog mates, we've also learned that we'll be talking about Steven Spielberg's remarkably prescient Philip K Dick adaptation, Minority Report. We'll be joined this episode by author, futuregazer and games industry expert Kelly Vero. Join us on a trip back 19 years to Steven Spielberg's thriller Minority Report, in which a troubled cop played by Tom Cruise goes on the run after his psychic pre-crime division predicts he'll be the next guy to commit a murder. It's a juicy conspiracy plot in the tradition of the best noir mysteries, but it also touches upon themes of free will and ethical policing, as well as building a vision of 2054 where personalised advertising and driverless cars are everywhere. Meanwhile, fabulous secret powers were revealed to us the day we held aloft our magic sword and said “By the power of Grayskull!” Yes, we've been watching Kevin Smith's Masters Of The Universe reboot, as well as Trollhunters, Wellington Paranormal, Old, American Gods and more. Plus: Space Sweepers, Memories Of The Alhambra and more – our guest this week is Kelly Vero, who shares Tanavi's love of Korean sci-fi. So if you're in need of recommendations for new sci-fi films and shows to watch, enjoy their dive into the best Korean entertainment you can find on services like Netflix. In Kelly's company, we also speculate about the next Doctor Who, watch the new Ghostbusters Afterlife trailer, consider the Battle Of The Planets reboot and loads more. There's all this plus the Exorcist and fond memories of Ulysses 31 in Robby The Robot's Waiting, the podcast that knows what you've done before you've done it. NB. Please forgive the variable audio quality in the first five minutes, we had a recording issue. Episode highlights: 0:01:00: WHAT WE'VE BEEN WATCHING! Beginning in 1979, Penny Kelly experienced a series of life-altering visitations. The visits were designed to show her the future of our planet, keying in on the United States in particular. The messengers were little men in brown robes who would simply appear in her kitchen, her bedroom or living room. At first startled by their appearance, with no frame of reference for the experience, other than the rising of her kundalini, she attempted to ignore them. But the pictures they were showing her ultimately could not be ignored. In Kelly's book, The Robes: A book of Coming Changes, we are shown a vision of our future that is imperative to engage, much of which has already come to pass since those visits nearly 40 years ago. Tune into this fascinating show, which not only talks about the future that Penny saw all the way to 2413 but also talks about what we can do to help create and live in a new world based on higher consciousness. Penny Kelly is a writer, teacher, author, publisher, consultant, and Naturopathic physician. In the late 1970s, she experienced a full kundalini awakening. After that, she studied the brain, consciousness, intelligence, intuition, and cognition. Penny has co-written or edited 23 books with others and has written nine books of her own. In my last interview with Penny Kelly in November of this year, we discussed her book “Consciousness and Energy, Volume 4, Trump, The Sting, The catastrophe cycle, and consciousness. In this interview, we will focus on the visions of the future Penny received from the Robes, and our involvement in it. Find out more about Penny Kelly at www.consciousnessonfire.com.

This episode results from a chance meeting at a gas station in the middle of nowhere that seems to bolster theories of synchronicity, simulation theory, or some other strange order to the universe.  Kelly has the incredible opportunity to speak with Dr. Jeff Meldrum, arguably the foremost expert on the topic of a possible mystery primate commonly referred to as Bigfoot. As a Full Professor of Anatomy & Anthropology with a Ph.D. in Anatomical Sciences and extensive research on the emergence of modern human bipedalism, his evaluation of footprint evidence, in particular, is difficult to ignore. In the words of Skeptic Brian Dunning, "The work of responsible scientists like Dr. Meldrum is exactly what true skeptics should be asking the Bigfoot community for, not criticizing him for it." In Kelly’s most in-depth interview to date, Dr. Meldrum discusses possible reasons we have not found a sasquatch body, explains why most DNA analysis has not yet given conclusive findings, provides an in-depth analysis of the Patterson-Gimlin film, and explains where research should head in the future in order to maximize the odds of solving this centuries-old mystery. Even the most Sam-and-Byron-like listeners will enjoy the scientific and objective analysis provided by one of The Captain’s academic heroes. Want even more? This is the last week to apply for my Fall Mastermind! If you are a woman with a heart of service and an idea you are ready to take inspired action on, apply here! Here are some of the big topics we talked about: True suffering is experienced by those victimized by the many evils in the world Self suffering is when daily challenges, both physical and mental, are created by one’s thoughts and emotions Worry, fear, and loss of hope consume the self-suffering person, who is at a loss for how to process and feels a lack of control At any moment, a new story can transform anyone’s life because thoughts are so powerful! Under the surface each person carries a deeper potential By tapping into joy and maintaining it consciously, despite the simultaneous experience of suffering, one can realize a transformative paradigm shift Kelly Resendez shares her story of losses, challenges, and conflicts within her family that spurred her to seek external gratification but also deep searching Thought Management Strategy: sorting and qualifying authentic empowering thought from disempowering thought Thank and let go of the “little” thoughts that come at you like doubt and self pity Create actionable steps out of the thoughts that come from your big voice Bring patterned and repetitive thoughts into the light by documenting and also help others find light by challenging their little thoughts Kelly is very particular about who she keeps closest to her while also believing in being less judgmental and more accepting She relies on the strength of her belief system to keep her positive in strong situations   Have the conviction that nobody will steal your joy! Especially in the conversation surrounding both parents and parenting!   Kelly and Kelly dive deep into an exchange on parenting Why you should create space on a daily basis to make yourself a priority and make self love a practice In Kelly’s Voice “We can change the way that we experience the life that we’re given. We can’t remove the suffering but we can certainly shift how we’re experiencing it and maintain joy simultaneously.” “I was able to move through and find meaning in the struggles. I stay in a place where nobody steals my joy. I’m just unshakeable.” “The first step is trusting that the universe is going to orchestrate to help move you forward.” “Your little voice is just all those little nonsense thoughts: ‘I hate my body,’ ‘I’m never gonna get out of this,’ ‘I’m just not pretty enough,’ ‘I’m not smart enough,’ ‘I’m never gonna get ahead in my life or have financial freedom.’ When you’re able to sort and qualify your big voice from your little voice, you’re able to see that the little voice is just nonsense.” “We desire connection. We also have the habit of staying isolated with our self suffering. We end up complaining instead of creating a new pattern. We’ve got to help one another!” “When you really think about devotion, it is an absolute commitment to your emotional and physical well-being so that you can be in a place of impact and service to the rest of world.” Connect with Kelly Website Facebook Blog

During a recent coaching session, a client mentioned employee turnover issues within their organization, in particular with newer, younger hires. Among the factors brought up for the recent departures was low pay. I paused and asked how frequently coaching occurred between supervisors and subordinates. A culture check if you will. Let’s just say it got really quiet for a bit. You see, there’s often a significant disconnect between what we believe about people leaving an organization, and what really happened. In Kelly and Robby Riggs’ eye-opening book, Counter Mentor Leadership, they cite: 89 percent of managers believe employees leave their jobs for more money; and 88 percent of employees reported they left for reasons other than money. Many old-school manager types believe focusing on results only is all that matters - the proverbial bottom line. Matthew Lieberman has some pretty interesting findings in his article “Should Leaders Focus on Results, or on People?” Great question. His findings: If a leader was considered strong in social skills, the person was seen as a great leader 12 percent of the time. Okay. What about that bottom line? If a leader was perceived to be strong in focusing on results, the number increased to… 14 percent of the time. That’s all. Just two percent more. For leaders who were strong in both results and social skills, the likelihood of being seen as a strong leader skyrocketed to 72%. Pop quiz time: What percentage of leaders rate high on results focus and social skills? Take a guess. Less than one percent. That’s why Kelly and Robby Riggs conclude Leadership is Freaking Hard. And they are right. Great leaders are unicorns. They focus on results. They focus on people. Great leaders are rare.

The decisions that drove her life were based on knee-jerk reactions, obligations, and, to a certain extent, the urgencies of other people. And, while she did the best with what she knew, and what other people expected of her, as she explains on the show, she felt like a fraud. Even when physical complications started to creep in, she would either pretend that they didn't exist, or dismiss them as minor symptoms. While she knew she needed to make changes in her life and career for a long time, the heart failure (as you can imagine) got her full attention.
