About M2 THE ROCK - MICHAEL MOLTHAN:I'm Michael Molthan, host of The M2 The Rock Show—one of the fastest-growing podcasts and shows on self-improvement, mental health, addiction recovery, and spiritual transformation. I'm so grateful you're here.I started M2 The Rock in 2017 to bring you conversations designed to make you happier, healthier, and more healed. Through raw and unfiltered discussions with experts, celebrities, thought leaders, and athletes, we uncover new perspectives on personal growth, recovery, and overcoming life's toughest challenges. My Story:What sets my journey apart is that there wasn't just one rock bottom—there were many. From being a successful luxury homebuilder to falling into addiction, homelessness, crime, and eventually 27 mugshots and prison, my life was in absolute chaos.Addiction was my temporary escape from childhood trauma, but it only led to destruction. It wasn't until I hit the lowest point imaginable that I finally found true freedom, redemption, and purpose. After an unexpected early release from prison in 2017, I walked 300 miles back to Dallas to turn myself in—only to be miraculously pardoned and told to “pay it forward.”And that's exactly what I've been doing ever since. My MissionI believe that rock bottom is not the end—it's a stepping stone to something greater. My goal is to redefine what "rock bottom" means by helping others rebuild their Spirit, Mind, and Body. On M2 The Rock, I speak openly about trauma, addiction, recovery, and the power of transformation. I don't shy away from topics like:✅ Trauma & Addiction – Understanding the root causes✅ Self-Sabotage & Mental Health – Breaking negative cycles✅ Codependency & Enabling – How relationships impact recovery✅ 12-Step Programs & Spiritual Healing – Finding true freedom✅ Religious Trauma & Personal Growth – Healing from past wounds"Everyone Is An Addict."Whether it's substances, work, validation, or negative thinking, we all have something we struggle with. But recovery is possible, and transformation is real.

On this week's episode of In The Circle, we're revisiting an extremely relevant inquiry: Are the 12 Steps still relevant today, how do they fit into modern recovery, and why did I adapt the 12 Steps into the 12 Efforts?Of course, when we explore these questions, we will need to discuss the challenges that come up with language and the power of words. Do people in recovery always have to refer to themselves as addicts or should that identification change? In a way, this exploration is fundamental to all who are on the path of recovery. We need to know what works, why it works, and how it can work better. We must always strive to honor the past, but we must also innovate and improve upon what is there to create an even brighter future. Tommy Discusses:How language gets in the way of our growthThe ties between yoga and the 12 StepsHow to embrace your past and overcome resentmentsWhy he created the 12 Efforts Readying yourself to be of service to other peopleWhy he is proud to be a part of “The Island of Misfit Toys”Would you like to be a guest on the In The Circle Podcast? Send us a textFor some of us who struggle with addiction, we're using our addiction to fill some type of hole we're feeling. Today's guest, Mark, was using his compulsive, addictive behaviors in an attempt to fill a “God-sized hole” in his life. He shares with us how recovery and finding his higher power has helped him fill that hole and soar beyond what he ever believed possible. This week's episode 310 of the Fragmented to Whole Podcast is about Mark's story: it's hard to get off the ground when your wings are cut!In this episode of the Fragmented to Whole Podcast, Mark shares his profound journey through various addictions and the transformative power the 12-step program had on his path to healing. Spiritual growth involves right-sizing your life and practicing humility. Recovery is about letting go and unlearning things so we can thrive, not just survive.Mark's journey demonstrates that no matter how dark your past, transformation is possible. If you're struggling with compulsive behaviors or feeling trapped, remember that hope exists. Take the first step by reaching out to a 12-step program or seeking support from professionals who understand your journey. There are a few parts where he takes questions, you will not be able to hear the questions but he does an ok job of recapping when answering so its not too difficult to figure out the question. On this week's episode of In The Circle, we're looking back on a topic that sits deep in the minds of most people who are in recovery–What If The 12 Steps Aren't For Me? Jeanne, a member of our Recovery 2.0 community shares about how the 12 steps will always be the foundation of her recovery, but that after a while she felt called to explore alternative paths of healing. What starts as a question about adopting modern-day healing modalities into 12-step recovery turns into a powerful look at what is broken about our approach to recovery in America and what we can do about it. There are so many options when it comes to recovery, and it is certainly my prayer that people will explore all the avenues that lead to health and wellness. IWe want to thank Jeanne today for asking this question and bringing so much to the table that we can explore. We must take stock of why we do what we do, especially when it comes to our decisions about healthcare and the well-being of all people.Tommy Discusses:Considering the 12-step doctrineWays modern treatment approaches fall shortIs the world ready for new modalities of healing?Poorly designed institutions and agencies Would you like to be a guest on the In The Circle Podcast? Wouldn't we all benefit from a better understanding of what it means to think well? If so, why don't we do it? Alan Jacobs is the author of "How to Think." He serves as a Distinguished Professor of Humanities in the Honors Program at Baylor University and a Senior Fellow of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture at the University of Virginia. He writes, "Relatively few people want to think. Thinking troubles us; thinking tires us. Thinking can force us out of familiar, comforting habits; thinking can complicate our lives; thinking can set us at odds, or at least complicate our relationships, with those we admire or live or follow. Who needs thinking?" Would you agree? Alan Jacobs finishes his book by giving The Thinking Person's Checklist. This 12-point checklist is designed to help us think well, and have better conversations. This conversation will offer "hope that each of us can reclaim our mental lives from the impediments that plague us all. Because if we can learn to think together, maybe we can learn to live together, too." Join the conversation, learn to Think Well, and bring your questions so we can put this checklist into practice. When we think of addiction, our minds often go to the "big three"—alcohol, drugs, and pornography. But addiction takes many forms. Workaholism, shopping, sugar, people-pleasing, and even exercise can become compulsive and harmful. The hard truth? We live in the most addicted culture in history. In this conversation, Ian Morgan Cron joins us to explore how the 12 steps offer wisdom beyond traditional addiction recovery. We all need them and can apply them in our day-to-day lives. He shares his personal journey and reminds us that addiction isn't a black-and-white issue—we're all somewhere on the continuum, and the principles of recovery can benefit everyone. One of our favorite takeaways from this episode: “We get sick alone. We heal together.” We dive into why community is essential for lasting wellness and why open conversations—especially with teens and young adults—are key to navigating today's world. If you're ready to break free from unhealthy patterns and step into a healthier, more whole version of yourself, this episode is for you. The tension between our need for transformation and our inability to make it happen can leave us feeling helpless. Thankfully change doesn't happen as a result of our own strength. Sunday AM Worship - 03/16/2025
In this episode I read something from Emmet Fox about the lesson contained in the transformation of caterpillar to butterfly. What spurs about such a change is described as "divine discontentment." After I read it, I discuss this from several angles of my own experience.(Rebroadcast)
(Rebroadcast) Episode 5 Season 5, "God Gave Us Brains"
In this episode I talk about how the AA principles have taught me that a loving act is always a constructive act, and it must travel because it simply cannot be destroyed. It has to keep going. From one person to another. Somehow. It has to keep moving. Unlike fear and hatred, which are always destructive, love only builds and can't be destroyed. (Rebroadcast)
