In this episode, we dive deep into their methodology and very clear and simple leadership framework for maximizing the human potential and laying a foundation for the implementation of successful Lean practice. We talk aboutFoundational Leadership: Rick Faber and Jesse DePriest emphasize the importance of building a strong leadership foundation of "love, listen, learn, lead" before implementing lean practices. Elevate Assessment: 5L has developed the "Elevate" assessment tool to help organizations objectively diagnose gaps in their management systems and prioritize areas for improvement.Flexible Framework: The 5L framework is designed to be adaptable across industries, allowing businesses to customize the approach to their unique needs. Long-Term Partnerships: 5L is excited to build lasting relationships with clients, helping them realize their goals and make a greater impact through effective leadership and lean practices. For more from 5L Performance Group, here are some links!www.5lperformancegroup.com https://www.linkedin.com/company/5lperformancegroup/posts/?feedView=allhttps://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61561625103544https://www.instagram.com/5lperformancegroup/
I've been helping set up a webinar series with support from the Iowa Sustainable Business Forum and the Iowa Lean Consortium. There are two webinars you can choose from, or sign up for both. I will be presenting the first webinar, Lean Methods for Sustainable Organizations. I will introduce those in sustainability roles to Lean methods, which have become some of the most popular improvement methods used in high-performing organizations in manufacturing, healthcare, government and many other industries. The second webinar, Sustainability for Lean Organizations, will be presented by Adam Hammes from SGS North America. He will help demonstrate to process improvement specialists, engineers, and management the business case for applying risk and quality management strategies like Lean to sustainability performance. In Episode 35, Mark is recently back from his Scotland gemba visit. He isn't tired from jet lag, or from whiskey, but nevertheless, Mark and Jamie both end up complaining about being tired. Maybe we're just…old (gasp). We also didn't plan our color coordination (for those on video). Episode page with video and more We focus this episode on going to the gemba in the making of scotch whisky, from Mark's recent trip. We talk about what is learned by going to the gemba, both in general and specific to whisky. You can hear more about peat, malting, distilling, and maturing, including is maturing inventory or a value-adding step? Of course, we also select scotch as our whisky of choice, opting for more obscure selections that you may not have heard of. Both were excellent. We also spend a little time talking about work retreats, whether it be for writing a book as both Mark and Jamie do, strategic thinking as Bill Gates would do, or just simply reflection and planning. We conclude by discussing what job at a distiller we would most like to do, although neither of us likely has the requisite skills. Slainte!
