Joshua and Jason met MGP's Master Distiller, Ian Stirsman, on a chance encounter at the legendary Jack Rose Dining Saloon just after an equally legendary Single Cask Nation event just after the pair won the 2024 Icons of Whisky Award for Independent Bottler of the Year. Having the chance to talk to someone responsible for making the world's most recognizable bourbon and rye whiskies was a true blessing and a blast to boot! Add to this, the duo brought Ford Ray in on the conversation as part of Ford's #GivingTuesday2023 winnings. Ford is a long standing Nation member and getting to know him a bit more was time well spent. We hope you agree. ...as usual, have a seat, have a pour, and listen in. Unless you're driving. If you're driving, be smart and stay sober but be sure to listen into the conversation! Joshua has often said that Jason's first interview with Bill Thomas of Jack Rose Dining Saloon was one of the best interviews he's ever heard from any interviewer. If we're being honest, this conversation, while quite a bit different than the first, was just as good. This is as fly-on-the-wall a whisky conversation as you'll ever hear. We hope you enjoy! ...as usual, have a seat, have a pour, and listen in. Unless you're driving. If you're driving, be smart and stay sober but be sure to listen into the conversation! Bill Thomas is the owner of Jack Rose Dining Saloon, home to the one of the largest publicly available whisk(e)y collections in the world with more than 2,700 different expressions. Thomas opened Jack Rose in 2011, but he has been in the whisk(e)y & bar business for more than 20 years. Considered one of the foremost authorities on whiskey in the United States, Thomas is often featured on judging panels, in whisk(e)y history documentaries and leading tastings across the country. Thomas is also an avid personal collector, with more than 6,000 bottles in his private collection. Thomas is soon opening up a new restaurant and bar, The Imperial, in Washington, DC in mid-2019, and, since Foodie and the Beast are about to head for a week in Scotland, we thought it the prefect time to discuss whisky, whiskey and all of Bill’s endeavors with the man himself! Cheers!"

Will had to make a last-minute, whirlwind trip to DC for work, and while he was there he decided to stop into the famous Jack Rose Dining Saloon for some dinner and some whiskey. Even though he knew it was a "must do" for whiskey fans, he failed to grasp the immensity of the place. He went on a whiskey journey that may not be topped ever, drinking unicorns throughout the night. Then, after the 15, the guys try Rittenhouse Rye.
