Chapter Forty-One: Jordan Morris-mania (with Jeremy Gunn)

College soccer is unique to the American sporting culture. Much of youth soccer's growth has been built around the promise of earning a college scholarship to play the sport, an attribute that is unique to both the game and higher education in the United States. Often, that puts it at conflict with the development pathways most commonly used to build strong national team programs in other countries. And, yet, college soccer itself doesn't generate significant revenue or fan interest. That leaves college soccer in the unenvious place of having a misunderstood identity. However, in 2014, Jordan Morris emerged on the senior national team scene while still playing at Stanford. He stayed and helped lead the Cardinal to an NCAA national championship, just months after scoring his first USMNT goal against Mexico. His national team popularity brought attention to mens's college soccer like never before. Jeremy Gunn coached Morris during his time at Stanford and joined the show to talk about the players impact on the program and soccer in America. He recounts how Morris caught the attention of Jurgen Klinsmann during a scrimmage between the national team and Stanford, and the call-up that followed. Gunn reflect on the reasons Morris stayed at Stanford when he could have left, and so much more. Founding Futbol is a year-long exploration of the critical moments that have led to soccer's emerging popularity in America. Visit our website for more information: FoundingFutbol.com. Jeremy Gunn and his wife, Billie, take the pain out of painting. That's how they roll - because that's what their team, their customers and the integrity of JBG Services, Painting Division - their Wilmington, NC-based company means to them. Count my family and I as are proud customers of JBG. So when I relaunched this show, I had to have Jeremy on to talk about JBG, his nearly 25 years in the restoration industry, his time as a martial arts instructor, and his vast experience in leadership roles has led to building a successful business. The Great Coaches: Leadership & Life

Jeremy Gunn is a former professional soccer player and now Head Coach. He grew up in England before moving to American for University. There he attended Cal State and was part of their 1992 Championship team and an All American. He then became an Assistant and Cal State, before becoming a Head Coach at Fort Lewis College. He led that team to 6 Rocky Mountain Championships and the 2006 NCAA division 2 championship. He then moved to the Charlotte 49ers before becoming the Stanford Head Coach in 2011. He has since led the Cardinals to 3 NCAA Championships, as well as 5 straight Pac 12 conference titles. Some of the key points are:How, when coaches hold back on challenging people for fear of over stepping a line they are in fact not helping the athlete become mentally fitter. How the line to which you can challenge people changes with each individual, and so when you're a coach, or you're a leader, the big thing is to create agreed upon lines within the group you have, and then maintain standard to those linesHow he believes that people are a product of their environment. And he sees the role of the coach to create an environment that shapes people towards the outcome that you want.If you would like to send us any feedback or if you know a great coach, who has a unique story to share, then we would love to hear from you, please contact us at paul@thegreatcoachespodcast.com or contact us through our website thegreatcoachespodcast.com Hosted on Acast. Episode 88 continues  the story of the autopsy.  This episode  is the last of two  episodes in a multi  part series that covers the ARRB  testimony in 1997  of  Floyd Riebe,   the photography student  of record who assisted John Stringer on the night of the autopsy and  who   took   autopsy photographs of the  President at Bethesda as well.  Join us in this very short  twenty-second autopsy  episode  which  continues the  reveal  of even more fantastic events that occurred during the autopsy.    And join us  for a  whole series of episodes about the fantastic goings on that encompass this part of the JFK story.   There is  more direct forensics to come in this series of  forensics episodes.  Stay tuned,  and eventually we'll explore  more of the physical evidence involving use and ownership of the   Mannlicher Carcano rifle and  evidence  recovered from the Presidential limousine, as well as damage done to the vehicle.  Our episodes have now begun  to explore  an array of matters that  dive into a deeper  darkness  related to what  went on that day in Dallas and in the  period before and after the assassination.  Matters   that possibly point  to a  wider  and more sinister  plot to kill the president and  that clearly call into question the theory that there was a  lone assassin.   Complex cases without  an eyewitness that can actually identify the shooter make the forensic and circumstantial evidence that much more important.  Ironically, problems abound with much of the evidence in this case. Evidence that is complex, incomplete and sometimes conflicting. Even as early as 1964, rumors and serious concerns over  the lone gunman theory and the evidence that might contravene it,  were becoming a major concern for the government and the commission. Conspiracy theories were contrary to the government's stated narrative from the very beginning. Stay tuned as there are many more episodes to come! This series comprehensively explores the major facts,  themes, and  events leading up to the assassination in Dealey Plaza and the equally gripping stories surrounding the subsequent investigation. We  review  key elements of the Warren Commission Report , and the role of the CIA and FBI. We explore the  possible involvement of the Mafia in the murder and the review of that topic by the government's House Select Committee on Assassinations in the 1970's. We explore the Jim Garrison investigation and the work of other key figures such as Mark Lane and others. Learn more about Lee Harvey Oswald the suspected killer and Jack Ruby the distraught Dallas night club owner with underworld ties and the man that killed Oswald as a national TV audience was watching.  Stay with us as we take you through the facts and theories in bite sized discussions that are designed to educate, and inform as well as entertain the audience. This  real life story is more fascinating than fiction. No matter whether you are a serious researcher or a casual student, you will enjoy the fact filled narrative and story as  we relive one of the most shocking moments in American History. An event that changed the nation and changed the world forever.
