EPISODE 127: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:41) SPECIAL COMMENT: It is carefully hidden to protect the sources, but there's no question in my mind now: The New York Times' profile of the arrested ex-FBI New York Executive Charles McGonigal implies that FBI and DOJ are investigating whether he was working for Oleg Deripaska, employer of Paul Manafort who was Trump's Campaign Manager - FOR FREE - long before he retired from the Bureau. I go through the Times piece line-by-line and the phrasing, the invoking of an earlier Russian Spy in McGonigal's own FBI department, the terminology, is all groundwork for later stories that could fully reengage this country with the reality of Trump's 2016 Conspiracy with Russia - and how the FBI's New York Office may have knowingly or unknowingly played a part on both ends of that fetid deal. B-Block (19:53) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: Gang Of 8 offered Trump Dock-Drama briefing; "Jim Dial" dies; Flaco the missing Central Park Owl? He's over at my place (24:32) IN SPORTS: Conspiracy nut Kyrie Irving dealt to Dealey Plaza; NHL tries to pretend its sudden homophobia problem/Pride Night disaster crisis is just going to go away (27:55) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Inside SCOTUS (in)security and use of private emails; Jenna Ellis is a moron; a Mississippi state rep goes full racist about the Chinese balloon. C-Block (34:00) EVERY DOG HAS ITS DAY: Andre, in New York (34:50) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: Schmuck Todd did it again. Another Republican Congressman lied to him about the five Chinese Recon Balloons sighted during the Trump Administration and Chuck said "duh, ok." The Kennedy Conspiracy is growing even stronger, in large part due to the work of Jefferson Morley, both in writing about it and more importantly in pressing the CIA to declassify documents. He now claims to have a "smoking gun" that will crack the case. But does he? Bob Buzzanco has been one of the foremost critics of the JFK-Oliver Stone Conspiracy group and he and Morley had a long discussion about the claims of a government conspiracy to kill the President in 1963. They discussed the difficulty of getting government documents, Morley's allegations about the CIA's involvement in conducting surveillance on Lee Harvey Oswald and trying to flip him, and then making him the patsy for the killing, and how the CIA operates. Buzzanco repeatedly made the point that there was still no evidence, no real link, between government agents and the events in Dallas at Dealey Plaza. Green & Red has been at the forefront of this debate and it continues with this great discussion. Bio// Jefferson Morley (@jeffersonmorley) is a Washington journalist and author. He worked as an editor at Harper's, The New Republic and Nation before joining the Washington Post in 1992. Morley is the author of three non-fiction books: The Ghost: The Secret Life of CIA Spymaster James Jesus Angleton (St. Martin's Press); Our Man in Mexico: Winston Scott and the Hidden History of the CIA (University Press of Kansas); and Snow-Storm in August: Washington City, Francis Scott Key, and the Forgotten Race Riot of 1835 (Nan Talese/Doubleday). It took decades to check this bucket-item off my list, but I finally got to visit Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas. It's a story that I call, Wait. What? No!
Episode 140 is the first in a multi-part series on the Bay of Pigs, as we wind down our overall series on Cuba. Hear the story of the Kilpatrick Report, the top secret report authored by the Inspector General of the CIA in the aftermath of the Bay of Pigs. With findings so explosive, it was labeled top secret and locked away for some 37 years in a safe before its general release to the public. Hear that much of the weak planning surrounding the invasion attempt was accepted because there was a concomitant plan to deploy the Mafia in a plan to assassinate Castro. In upcoming episodes in this mini-series, we will tell more about the invasion itself and the story surrounding the Mafia plot to eliminate Castro. John T. Orr is the author of "Analysis of Gunshots in Dealey Plaza." Orr's independent research convinced the FBI to conduct additional testing on JFK evidence as late as 1997. Results were inconclusive, but he suggests that even more testing should be done. John became one of the few private citizens ever allowed by the Archives to examine in person original pieces of evidence in the case--the president's bloody shirt, coat, and tie, the magic bullet, the bullet fragments from the limousine, and the section of curb that a bullet struck. John also read thousands and thousands of pages of private books, magazines, and reports on the assassination. On April 17, 1995, John mailed a 72-page report on the final results of my research project to Attorney General Janet Reno. The report proves beyond a reasonable doubt that four shots were fired during the assassination.
Episode 139 is a special edition episode which tells the story of an "Almost" appearance on the Megyn Kelly Show during her December history week series. And along with telling the story in the prologue regarding that "Almost" appearance, we go ahead in this episode 139 and provide you with a special narration on JFK that summarizes much of what went on that day in Dealey Plaza. A story similar to what you would have heard from me, at least in part, had the "Almost" episode been aired. Craig Ciccone is a independent historian and author of "Master List of Witnesses to the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy" which details the number of people in Dealey Plaza and gives us a clearer picture of who was where. Craig has also made a map to help visualize and give insight to some of the locations of the witnesses in precise detail. Craig has also looked into the killing of Fred Hampton and recounts the events that had led to the death of such a young activist and how it impacted Chicago.
Episode 135 is another Bonus Episode. We cover the infamous story of the failed Attack on the Moncada Barracks. This was the first armed attack led by Fidel Castro against the Batista government after the1952 coup by Batista. The attack failed miserably with 25 people killed in the attack itself and an additional 54 of the revolutionaries summarily rounded up and murdered shortly afterward. Fidel Castro escaped into the mountains but was subsequently apprehended and brought to trial. While he was convicted and sentenced to fifteen years, his eloquent speech now dubbed "history will absolve me" coupled with the brutality of the Batista forces as they dealt with the escaping revolutionaries, combined to turn Castro into a national hero and set the stage for a later toppling of the Batista government. For almost sixty years, the Kennedy assassination has occupied the hearts and minds of Americans. Hundreds of books have been written about the fateful day at Dealey Plaza in November of 1963, often offering elaborate and convoluted conspiracy theories about government plots, the Mafia, Cuba and the KGB.My guest is investigative journalist and bestselling author Gerald Posner. He believes that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in murdering President Kennedy. His critically acclaimed book, "Case Closed: Lee Harvey Oswald and the Assassination of JFK" was a 1994 Pulitzer Prize Finalist for History. Gerald Posner's website: https://www.posner.com/

When Kennedy's motorcade was barely five minutes away from its destination, gunshots rang out as it passed the Texas School Book ...
Today is the anniversary of the killing of John Kennedy in Dallas. While in Dallas a few years ago, I took a tour of Dealey Plaza with Robin Brown of JFK Custom Tours. It was so entertaining that I invited Robin to the show to lay out what he believes happened on November 22, 1963. We spend a great deal of time discussing the rise of defense contractors and the CIA in the early days of the Cold War. Then Robin explains his theory on the why, how, and who of President John F. Kennedy's murder. Visit Robin's website at https://www.jfkcustomtours.com/. Disclaimer: I really have no idea what happened to President Kennedy, and by having Robin on, I am not endorsing his ideas. Much of the history on the establishment of that period we share is absolutely true, and most facts on the assassination he shared did check out. I don't know what happened. I just found him to be a fun person you'd enjoy. Come to your own conclusions. Mark is the architecture critic for the Dallas Morning News and a two-time EarBurner guest. We invited him on to talk about a new plan for Dealey Plaza that he has concocted with some of his smart friends. Mark says the space has become tawdry, and we need to prioritize people over their cars. We also talk about whether Dallas is still a "can do" city, why the Mavericks should rethink their branding design, and our favorite movies ever filmed in Dallas.
