Kennedy in Dallas to a phantom black dog in the English county of Dorset, the murder and dismemberment of a retired sea captain on a quiet island in Washington's San Juan archipelago, and the 1901 killing of a young woman in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, whose spirit is said to still walk her family home.It opens in Dealey Plaza on November 22, 1963, where President John F. Kennedy was shot and the Warren Commission, headed by Judge Earl Warren, concluded in 1964 that ex-Marine Lee Harvey Oswald fired three shots alone from the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository. Eyewitnesses undercut that account from the start: Arnold Rowland saw two men at the window minutes earlier, one holding a rifle and neither matching Oswald, while secretaries Victoria Adams and Sandra Styles and caretaker Jack Dougherty never saw Oswald flee down the only staircase he could have used. The episode dismantles Arlen Specter's single-bullet theory — the claim that Commission Exhibit 399 passed through Kennedy's neck and inflicted five separate wounds on Governor John Connally before turning up nearly pristine on a Parkland Hospital stretcher — a conclusion Connally and his wife Nellie both rejected and Abraham Zapruder's home film contradicts on timing. Camping alone beside a medieval moat near Raoul Castle in East Dorset, he watched the dark shape of a large dog settle on the far embankment and stare back at him, then rise and dissolve into nothing as every nearby sound of wildlife cut out, leaving him zipped inside his tent until morning.Next comes the disappearance of Rolf Neslund, an 83-year-old retired sea captain who in 1978 drove a 550-foot freighter into the West Seattle Bridge before retreating into a drink-soaked marriage on Lopez Island in Washington's San Juan Islands. When Rolf vanished in August 1980, his wife Ruth insisted he had flown home to Norway, yet his prescriptions went unfilled, his American and Norwegian bank accounts went untouched, and no Christmas card reached his relatives that December. In 1982 Ruth's brother told police she had confessed that on August 8, 1980, a second brother held Rolf down while she shot him twice in the head, after which the body was dismembered in the bathtub, burned in a backyard barrel, and scattered on the manure pile. A search turned up replaced carpet over bloodstains, spatter on the ceiling, and a bloodstained .38-caliber Smith & Wesson hidden in Ruth's dresser, tying her to a killing that began as a fight over the roughly $80,000 she had quietly moved into an account bearing only her name; convicted in 1985 and sentenced to twenty years, she maintained her innocence until her death at seventy-three.The episode closes with nineteen-year-old Nell Cropsey, who walked onto the front porch of her family's Elizabeth City, North Carolina home with her suitor Jim Wilcox on the night of November 20, 1901, and was never seen alive again. Her body surfaced in the Pasquotank River on December 27, her death caused by a violent blow to the left temple, and Wilcox — the son of the local sheriff, known for a fierce temper — was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to thirty years before Governor Thomas Walter Bickett pardoned him in 1918. Once freed, Wilcox sought out newspaper editor W.O. Saunders to reveal something so startling that Saunders began planning a book, but Wilcox killed himself with a shotgun before he could tell it, Saunders died soon afterward in a car wreck, and whatever he knew went with them. More than a century on, the former Cropsey home still answers with lights that switch on and off, doors that open by themselves, faucets that run with no hand on the tap, and a pale young woman glimpsed crossing empty rooms and gazing from an upstairs window — recognized by more than one resident as Nell, her killing never truly solved.

News footage shows office workers leaning out of windows, peering at the motorcade through a blizzard of ticker tape. On the sidewalks, the crowds are fifty deep, a wall of noise and celebration. Everyone thinks this is the place to be. Well, nearly everyone.... A few blocks away, in Dealey Plaza, the scene is different. There is no ticker tape here, and the crowds are thin. A dressmaker with vertigo films the action balanced on a concrete plinth. A man is opening an umbrella even though it isn't raining, a construction worker will claim he was sent here by God and three mysterious tramps who will shortly be arrested. Welcome, everyone, to the inaugural episode of It's in a Book! “Take a look, it's in a book…” This is our new on again, off again podcast within a podcast.  Instead of goofing off with the news and making fun of the public figures who're trying to make life unlivable for the rest of us, we're going to be taking a more serious (well, at least, a somewhat more serious). I don't want to make any promises I can't keep. These episodes will be a somewhat more serious look at some books and authors that change how people think, or at least have changed how we think. The books we'll be checking out tell stories about the often unseen machinations that shape the world. These are books that might make us rethink society, power, and conflict and how we relate to them. We're not trying to put together some kind of great books canon here. We'd barely know where to start. Which is why a lot of the books we'll be talking about are chosen by our guests. For this first episode, we're joined by Gabriel Kennedy. The book he chose for us was The Illuminatus! Trilogy, an 800-page exploration of political paranoia, both a parody of it and a meditation on it, lampooning right-wing conspiracy culture while also destabilizing the reader's sense of certainty itself. The book is inexhaustible. Every reread reveals something new. It offers sharp insights into “deep politics,” especially in its treatment of the JFK assassination. Rather than arguing a single conspiracy, it presents multiple overlapping assassination attempts, redundancies layered on redundancies, mirroring the confusion and contradictions of the official narratives. One scene places a hired assassin in Dealey Plaza who suddenly realizes there are multiple shooters. His reaction: “How many of us are there here?” captures the essence of the book's approach: uncertainty as a feature, not a flaw. Once you push through the first hundred or so pages, the book really opens up. It becomes an education in anarchism, political paranoia, and intellectual curiosity. It inspires readers to look things up, to chase references, to question assumptions. Authors Robert Anton Wilson and Robert Shea blend high philosophy with pulp fiction and pornography, real historical events with slight distortions, and truthful fictions. Kennedy who might have photographed the events that occurred in Dallas's Dealey Plaza at the time President John F. Kennedy was shot. Her nickname arose from the headscarf she wore, which was similar to scarves worn by elderly Russian women (бабушка – babushka – literally means "grandmother" or "old woman" in Russian).The Babushka Lady was seen to be holding a camera by eyewitnesses and was also seen in film accounts of the assassination.[1][2] She was observed standing on the grass between Elm and Main streets and is visible in the Zapruder film as well as in the films of Orville Nix,[3] Marie Muchmore, and Mark Bell[4] (44 minutes and 47 seconds into the Bell film: even though the shooting had already taken place and most of her surrounding witnesses took cover, she can be seen still standing with the camera at her face). After the shooting, she crossed Elm Street and joined the crowd that went up the grassy knoll. She is last seen in photographs walking east on Elm Street. The Ochelli Effect 11-13-2025 SNAFU NEWSUnplug and Play?Another attempt to reveal truth to people that really do not want itBefore presenting things on here I go beyond headlines and spin. What is that you might ask? Well, I examine and research incidents and events as told by a diverse group of sites online mostly, and after gathering what I think may be the alleged facts portrayed by Left, Right, and some niche variations on the event or incident I seek independent verification and corroboration about the representations, allegations and reporting that is often condensed and bias to such a degree that the obvious agenda to insight reactions from targeted potential audiences and create misleading narratives or distortion of reality and fabrication of narratives is the only obvious business model that I find most often undeniable. The above mentioned process along with and frankly generated by , making phone calls to involved agencies, reading legislation or other documents often given citations in the due course of reporting by others, and fact checking with neutral parties and reliable reference resources along with a handful of trade secrets is the minimum of what I do when analyzing and reporting on The Ochelli Effect.  A wide range of results are gathered over anywhere from 8 to 12 hours of work investigating the claims and varsity of multiple narratives that often boil down to 3 to 6 sections on a one hour long podcast that I present with 10% of the resource links offered in show notes that were actually utilized to simply give you the listener step 1 of maybe 20 steps taken in a personal investigation uniquely cultivated by the host speaker that actually cares about representing something meaningful to you in your search for real information and Truth with some mockery of issues that seem worthy of it and a joke or two as that has been requested by listeners recently. Am I biased? Yes. My bias is based on the desire to eliminate the pre-packaged talking points of those who only seek to influence your outrage and fear for profit from your information and news feeds as best I am able to. Episode 298  is the tweltfh episode of our mini-series on the Tippit murder. Dallas Patrolman J.D. Tippit's actions on  November 22, 1963, were, by any measure, erratic.
