I would prefer not to.Based on “Bartleby the Scrivener - A Story of Wall Street”, a short story by Herman Melville, Bartleby (1970) is the story of a young man at odds with the world in which he finds himself. He starts work as an audit clerk at an accountancy firm but within a few days begins to refuse to do any work, saying merely that he “would prefer not to”.Starring John McEnery in the title role and Paul Scofield as his extremely patient boss, the film is the only feature to be directed by Anthony Friedman.Stephen Armstrong, journalist at The Observer and freelance film critic joins us to talk about the film.In popular culture, Bartleby has become a symbol of passive resistance to corporate bureaucracy. Among many other things, Bartleby's famous line “I would prefer not to” has become a:Column in the economistSeveral T-shirtsA slogan used at Occupy Wall St and other protestsSocksThe official motto of philosopher Slavoj Žižek!In Herman Melville's original story, he mentions the names of two real life people - John C Colt & Samuel Adams. In 1949, a quiet neighborhood in St. Louis became the center of one of the most controversial religious cases in American history. A 13-year-old boy began exhibiting disturbing symptoms including violent outbursts, strange markings on his body, and other troubling episodes, leading Catholic priests to perform a series of secret exorcism rites. The case would later inspire The Exorcist, but the real story was far more complex than the film. My guest is Troy Taylor, author of The Devil Came to St. Louis: The Uncensored True Story of the 1949 Exorcism, who takes a careful look at the case, its origins, and how fact, faith, and folklore became intertwined in one of America's most enduring mysteries. Welcome to the latest episode of LIFTS, your bite-sized dose of the Latest Industry Fitness Trends and Stories. In this episode, hosts Matthew Januszek and Mohammed Iqbal are joined by Troy Taylor from Tonal to explore one of the most important shifts happening in fitness today: strength as the foundation of longevity. Drawing on connected strength data from thousands of members, this conversation examines a surprising insight — in many cases, 60-year-olds are matching or outperforming 30-year-olds in relative strength gains. The difference isn't age. It's consistency, progressive overload, and measurable outcomes. As the industry shifts from aesthetics and performance toward healthspan and preventative health, the discussion explores what truly matters as we age. From muscle mass and maximal strength to power and velocity, Troy explains why lower-body power may be one of the most important predictors of long-term resilience, fall prevention, and independence. The episode also explores minimal effective dose training, advanced tools like eccentric overload, and the growing role of connected strength technology. For operators, this conversation challenges traditional KPIs such as check-ins and time-in-gym, making the case for tracking strength progression and real outcomes instead. This episode moves beyond trends to examine what fitness operators, brands, and leaders should prioritise if the goal is not just participation — but measurable progress and long-term health impact. In this episode, we cover: • Why older members often outperform younger ones in relative strength gains • The real driver of progress: consistency and progressive overload • Why strength is becoming foundational for longevity • Muscle vs strength vs power — and why power matters most as we age • Minimal effective dose training and why 20–35 minutes works • Why lower-body power is critical for healthspan and fall prevention • Why operators must shift from tracking visits to tracking outcomes

Peter Stumpp was arrested accused of being an "insatiable bloodsucker” - which, in 1589, meant he was being accused of being a werewolf. Even stranger… Peter readily admitted to being one.IN THIS EPISODE: For years the doctors couldn't figure out why Wally was coughing so much, why his skin cracked and bled, turning the bedsheets red. They prescribed ointments, antibiotics, decongestants, pain killers. His guts ached for years, too, and even morphine didn't help the pain. He died a wraith, 73 years old. This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! PART TWOLong before the Salem Witch Trials, fear of witchcraft was already deeply ingrained in European society—and it crossed the ocean with the first settlers. In this episode of The Grave Talks, we explore how that fear took root in the New World and shaped centuries of paranoia, accusation, and tragedy. We're joined by supernatural historian and author Troy Taylor, whose book One Night in Salem: The Hidden History of the American Witch examines how witchcraft hysteria followed settlers to America and erupted violently in Salem Village. What began as religious fear escalated into mass hysteria—fueled by distrust, fanaticism, and the belief that evil had taken hold—ultimately costing innocent people their lives. But Salem was not the end of America's obsession with witchcraft. In this conversation, Troy traces the hidden history of the American witch beyond 1692, exploring how fear evolved, resurfaced, and continues to influence beliefs today.Find more information about Troy, his books, ghost tours, hunts, and more at his website americanhauntingsink.com#TheGraveTalks #AmericanWitchcraft #SalemWitchTrials #HiddenHistory #TroyTaylor #ParanormalPodcast #HauntedHistory #WitchHysteria #SupernaturalHistoryLove real ghost stories? Before the famous footprints, before the Patterson film, there were centuries of Sasquatch encounters across America. Wild men in the woods, miners under siege, and paranormal beings that defy explanation — these are the Bigfoot stories most people have never heard.IN THIS EPISODE: It all started with a bunch of footprints at a construction site. Or at least the modern-day fascination with “Bigfoot” did. Stories of hairy giants in the woods and wandering “wild men” had been a part of American lore for nearly two centuries by the time the nickname “Bigfoot” was coined in the late 1950s. But it was then, with the advent of television and the modern media, that chasing down giants in the woods became a national craze. The phone lines were cut, the ladder was stolen, the trucks wouldn't start — and by morning, five children had vanished without a trace.IN THIS EPISODE: One of the most haunting mysteries to ever occur in West Virginia – and perhaps even in America – began during the predawn hours of December 25, 1945. The fire that occurred at the Sodder home that night was the key to the mystery, but whether it was a vanishing, a kidnapping, or a mass murder has never been determined. *** Plus, even though a young man was tried, convicted, and died in prison for the murder – along with two others – there are many who believe that Suzanne Degnan's murder was never actually solved. The MIB. They appear without warning, dressed in black, knowing things about you they shouldn't possibly know — and they always deliver the same chilling message: stop asking questions, forget what you saw, or else.IN THIS EPISODE: The mysterious Men in Black… are they government agents? (The MIB: I Knew They Were Evil) *** In spring of 2015, the Great Barrington Historical Society & Museum formally inducted the infamous Reed case of alien encounters. (Reed Family Alien Abduction) *** Weeping statues are nothing new, and believers claim they are miracles without much investigation. However, the Vatican proves them to be hoaxes almost 100% of the time. The latest is the statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe in New Mexico. Will this be the one that finally convinces the Vatican of a true miracle? (Weeping Statue) *** Had Leonarda Cianciulli's life not been so muddled by superstition, curses, and Romani fortune tellers, she may never have murdered at all. When Santa's costume caught fire at a small-town Christmas program in 1924, the crowd rushed to the only door — but it opened inward, and they couldn't escape. This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! Long before Salem became shorthand for hysteria, fire, and fear, the idea of the witch had already crossed the ocean. In this episode, we dig into the dark origins of American witchcraft with historian and author Troy Taylor, whose new book One Night in Salem: The Hidden History of the American Witch peels back the layers of how fear arrived in the New World alongside the first European settlers. They didn't just bring religion and tradition with them—they carried the trauma of a Europe gripped by witch hunts, torture, and public executions. That fear didn't disappear when they reached America. It took root. What followed in Salem Village wasn't just superstition, but a perfect storm of paranoia, religious extremism, and social fracture—one that led to the deaths of innocent people and forever stained American history. But Salem wasn't the end of the story. We explore how witchcraft accusations evolved after Salem, how the image of the American witch shifted over time, and why the fear never truly went away. From colonial gallows to modern belief systems, this is the hidden history that still echoes today. This is Part Two of our conversation. Long before Santa slid down chimneys, other figures roamed the winter nights — and they weren't bringing presents. They were bringing punishment.IN THIS EPISODE: ‘Tis the season for not only reindeer, grinches and magical snowmen but also fearless children, negligent parents and dumb thieves. “Home Alone” may be the first Christmas movie that comes to mind upon hearing that description, but it turns out there's a long and storied tradition of true stories of children left alone around the holidays matching wits against would-be robbers. (Home Alone) *** What would you think if you received a Christmas card in the mail that had a picture of a dead bird on the cover? Not very festive, is it? But that's not what people believed in the past. Long before Dickens penned A Christmas Carol, our ancestors gathered around midwinter fires to tell tales of spirits and monsters lurking in the darkness. Tonight, we explore why Christmas and ghost stories have been intertwined for thousands of years — then share true accounts that prove the tradition is very much alive. #HolidayHorrorsIN THIS EPISODE: Earlier this month I shared some true reports of people seeing Kris Kringle – or what appeared to be Kris Kringle – in real life. But there are many more of those strange sightings to share! (More Real Santa Sightings) *** Christmas has been celebrated for centuries, and gift-giving has been around in America since well before the Civil War. But how we celebrate and what we give changes depending on the time. We'll take a look at what Christmas was like for American pioneers in the 1800s. (Christmas in The Old West) *** At a Christmas party the revelers heard a horrifying scream from outside. They rushed out to hear the screams were coming from the sky, at least above the rooftops. But how could that be? It was then that they learned Oliver Lerch had disappeared – never to be seen again. (The Christmas Disappearance of Oliver Lerch) *** Nothing says Christmas like a poisonous weed! Well… you explain mistletoe! We'll look at why we're supposed to kiss under this deadly plant during the holidays. (A Kiss Under the Mistletoe) *** A horrible fire breaks out at an Oklahoma school during the holidays of 1924 – and the ghosts of the children still linger at the site. But that's America. What comes down the chimney of Irish and Scottish kids may not be so jolly, plump, and loving. Some Gaelic children have to watch out for the Bodach. It was Christmastime — a season of peace, light, and goodwill — which made the slow unraveling of their minds all the more disturbing.IN THIS EPISODE: Despite being in the middle of the first World War, on Christmas Day, 1914 British and German soldiers sang carols together, exchanged gifts with the enemy combatants, and supposedly even played a soccer game against each other in order to celebrate the holiday. (The Great War's Christmas Truce) *** The case was so mysterious it was even featured on TV's “Unsolved Mysteries” and “America's Most Wanted”: who committed the Christmas murder of Latricia White? And what happened to Lee and Chance Wackerhagen? (An Unsolved Christmas Murder Mystery) *** We're so used to seeing old St. Nick showing up with a big bag of toys for the kiddies – but what if he arrived with another bag full of switches for your parents to use the whole year through if you were on his naughty list? We'll look back at when Santa wasn't purely jolly and jovial, and when he arrived to dole out both presents and punishment! (Santa's Naughty List) *** The Los Feliz murder mansion became the site of a horrifying and sad Christmas tragedy for one California family. (Christmas At The Los Feliz Murder Mansion) *** A haunting holiday mystery took place in England in 1916 when a young bride simply disappeared without a trace. Santa Claus is supposed to bring joy and gifts — but these killers used the beloved red suit to bring terror and death. From Christmas party massacres to serial killers hiding behind the jolly disguise, these are the true crimes that prove not every Santa belongs on the nice list.IN THIS EPISODE: A Christmas party turns tragic when a young bride suggests a game of hide-and-seek… then disappears for fifty years. (The Bramshill Bride) *** When you hear someone mention the headless horseman it's almost impossible not to think of the New England story of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow – a classic Halloween tale if there ever was one. But then there is the Christmas tale of another headless horseman as well – this one in Old England - and he makes an appearance each Christmas at Wycoller Hall. (The Headless Horseman of Wycoller Hall) *** A husband invites his wife into the room and asks her to closer her eyes for a Christmas surprise. (A Killer Who Thinks He Is Interesting) *** A mother is terrified when her daughter tells of a young girl who wants to play with her – but she also appears to be dead. (Ghostly Warnings) *** A Redditor tells a frightening story that took place one Christmas while visiting his grandmother's home. Hollywood says Krampus is an ancient Christmas demon with roots in pagan mythology — but there's no evidence any of that is true. The real story of how this monster came to be is stranger than any legend. #HolidayHorrorsIN THIS EPISODE: We're all familiar with the poem “A Visit From St. Nicholas” – better known as, “Twas The Night Before Christmas”. But while we know the poem, we can't be quite as sure about who wrote it. (The Christmas Poem That Started a Feud) *** One of the great (and now, sadly, lapsed) Christmas traditions is the telling of ghost stories. On one particular year, a British teenager took this pastime to a whole other level. He didn't read about a Christmas Eve haunting. He experienced one. (The Phantom Choir of St. Albans) *** The past few years have made Krampus, the Christmas devil, a star of the big screen. But have you noticed that every version of him is different than the others? This may of course be in part to creative license, but it might have just as much if not more to do with the fact that none of the filmmakers had any idea of just what Krampus truly is, what he is all about, and how terrifying he can be. (Krampus, The Christmas Monster) *** Disaster strikes a small Illinois town on Christmas Eve, stripping away all that was merry and bright for the families who lived there. #HolidayHorrors | Hundreds of people have reported encounters with what looks exactly like Santa Claus — and they weren't children dreaming on Christmas Eve. If the real Santa doesn't exist, what are these witnesses actually seeing... and why does it want to be seen?IN THIS EPISODE: Many of us are familiar with the flip side of Father Christmas – the darker entity who visits and kidnaps bad children, Krampus. But when it comes to true fear, even Krampus would run in terror at the sight of Iceland's Gryla, the Christmas Witch! With roots dating back to the 13th century, Gryla is not to be messed with! (Iceland's Christmas Witch) *** It was Christmastime, 1938, and 19-year-old Margaret Martin had just graduated from Wilkes-Barre Business College with honors and was eager to secure a secretarial job. Her eagerness would lead to her disappearance. (The Murder of Margaret Martin) *** Ask anyone over the age of twelve what they think about the existence of Santa Claus and you'll most assuredly get the same answer. But that has not stopped people of all ages reporting sightings of the jolly old elf, and some of the stories are downright creepy. (People Who Swear They've Seen the Real Santa Claus) *** Two murders committed in the same house during the holidays of 1928 appear to have resulted in the spirits of Christmas past haunting the place today. On April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first man in space — but two brothers in Italy had already recorded transmissions from Soviet spacecraft that were never supposed to exist. | #WDRadio WEEK OF DEC 07, 2025==========HOUR ONE: Did lost cosmonauts make it into space before Yuri Gagarin? (The Tombs in Space) *** Don't take a gift from Gracie Watson's grave... or her life-like statue might cry tears of blood. (Gracie's Ghost) *** Did Bonnie Scott run away? Was she kidnapped? Murdered perhaps? All anyone knew was that no one had a clue where she was. She had simply disappeared without a trace. (The Murder of Bonnie Leigh Scott) *** A latchkey kid comes home to an empty house… or so they thought until they heard footsteps in another room. (The Laundry Room)==========HOUR TWO: Just because the Ouija board is made by a board game manufacturer does not mean it should be treated like a toy – as many have discovered. *** The similar game, Charlie Charlie seems more innocent – but is so dangerous that in one school where children were playing it, they had to call in an exorcist. *** And you never know when playing any of these types of games what kind of spirit you might be inviting into our realm – but I can tell you this…. It's never good. They might pretend to be good, but that's far from the truth. And one particular demon has found notoriety through the Ouija board community, a demon you don't want to risk opening a door for. It's name is Zozo.==========SUDDEN DEATH OVERTIME: People often encounter strange and frightening things when they experience sleep paralysis – but in one particular story, the horrors began well before going to bed. (Sleep Paralysis in Bangkok) *** Samuel Joselyn was buried in 1810 in a North Carolina cemetery. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that Samuel was actually DEAD at the time of his burial! (Buried Alive in Wilmington) *** in 1894 Rosa Lochner was a witness to murder, but she had been deaf since birth and her spoken vocabulary was limited. So how could she testify against the accused? (Murder In Pantomime) *** A boy wakes to find his previously closed curtains now open – and the only explanation involves a previous resident of the house he's now living in. (Strange Manifestations) *** Mention the word “Chupacabra” and most people will think of a strange, hairless dog-like animal. They are never described as having the ability to fly… until now. (Winged Chupacabras) *** These UFOs aren't shiny metallic discs or cigar-shaped spaceships. They are humanoid – and they fly without the help of a jetpack, wings, cape or even a broom to sit on. And the sightings are still coming in all throughout Mexico. (The Flying Humanoids of Mexico) *** The North Carolina Cherokee have a story about how dangerous it can be even near a calm river – where the waters can suddenly foam and a giant beast can appear on the rocks. (James and the Giant Leech) *** Supernatural women, shadowy men, odd animal sightings, and more… they can all be found at late-night truck stops if you're not careful. #WDRadio WEEK OF NOVEMBER 30, 2025 | On May 19, 1780, colonists lit candles at midday, cows returned to their barns, and preachers warned the end was near—all because the sun simply disappeared. But I'm guessing what you never picture in your head is a Victorian woman named Madame Rachel. She never got her own movie, but she was the real deal. When Rome's Emperor Valerian fell into Persian hands, his defeat became one of history's most grotesque legends — a tale of humiliation, torture, and a death said to come by molten gold. | #WDRadio WEEK OF NOV 11, 2025==========HOUR ONE: When it comes to receiving the death sentence, history has given us several ways to go about the execution. Hanging, firing squad, gas chamber, being stoned to death or burned at the stake… but you have to be some whole new level of “hated” by the people if your death blow comes by way of molten gold being poured down your throat. (Death By Golden Throat) *** Typically, when you hear the phrase “high speed chase”, you think of law enforcement trying to catch the bad guys who are in a getaway vehicle. Perhaps after a bank robbery, or after blowing a stop sign and simply refusing to pull over. But have you heard about the time that the police were involved in a high-speed chase up to 100-miles-per hour, trying to catch up to a flying saucer? (The 100mph UFO Chase) *** When the Black Plague arrived at their doorsteps, the villagers were forced to choose between life or certain doom. It's the tragic tale of England's Plague Village – the village of Eyam. (The Black Death Comes to Eyam) *** In the 1800s, women finding themselves “with child” but unmarried, were treated like second-class citizens or worse. And during a time when birth control was limited or even unavailable outside of the rhythm method, what was a girl to do if she found herself in such dire circumstances? Fortunately, there was a woman there ready to help – to take the baby off their hands and give it a good home. Or so everyone thought. (Minnie, The Baby Farmer) *** On frozen lakes near Manitowish Waters, a hooded figure appears to ice fishermen, silently guiding them to the best spots for a catch before vanishing into the winter air. (The Ice Fisherman Ghost)==========HOUR TWO: Ruth Snyder and Judd Gray devised a scheme to get rid of Ruth's husband – and they planned it so well that, okay… actually no. They were so inept they were caught immediately, and even the police publicly called them incompetent. (The Dumb-Bell Murder) *** For over 2,000 years across South and Southeast Asia, trained elephants served as living instruments of execution, crushing condemned prisoners with calculated brutality under the control of their handlers. (Execution By Elephant) *** Before he became a Civil War general, Congressman Dan E. Sickles' scandalous murder trial changed our legal system forever. He said outright that he had killed his wife's lover. So how did he avoid being found guilty of the crime he admitted to committing? (How A Congressman Got Away With Murder) *** In 1150, two children were found near Woolpit in England – they wore strange clothes, spoke oddly, but the most identifiable characteristic for both children was their skin was green. The children themselves were a mystery – but what happened when they grew up? Did they marry? Did they have children? Could there be decedents of the green children of Woolpit living among us today? (Great Grandkids of Green Children) *** In the summer of 1518, a mysterious dancing plague seized the French town of Strasbourg, compelling hundreds to dance without rest for months—some until they collapsed and died—in a frenzy that baffled authorities and remains unexplained to this day. (Dancing Plague)==========SUDDEN DEATH OVERTIME: “Tom" and "Lena" are in a loving relationship and have a young child together. It sounds like the perfect family – except for one tiny detail about their relationship. Tom and Lena are biological brother and sister. (I Fell In Love With My Sister) *** In Norfolk, England the village of Eccles was slowly gobbled by the rising waters of the sea in the early 1600s. But even today, sometimes during a particularly heavy story, you can see St. Mary's Church mysteriously reappear… bringing with it, the dead buried in the church graveyard who cannot find rest. (The Disappearing And Reappearing Village of Eccles) *** Lory Price and his wife Ethel mysteriously disappeared from Marion, Illinois. But then, sometimes that happens when you are mixed up with the mob or may have learned something you weren't supposed to. (The Vanishing of Lory Price) *** The Catacombs of St. Callixtus in Rome, Italy, hold the remains of sixteen popes, several martyrs, and around half a million Christians, and according to on author, a not-of-this world entity. (The Callixtus Catacombs Entity)==========SOURCES AND REFERENCES FROM TONIGHT'S SHOW:“Death By Golden Throat” by Genevieve Carlton for Weird History https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/3586qeqk, Rachel Nuwer for Smithsonian Magazine https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/18pu2d9b, and Laurie L. Week of November 09, 2025: Hundreds vanish without a trace in America's national parks each year, found miles from where they disappeared in impossible locations—if they're found at all.==========HOUR ONE: Colorado's best urban legends! *** A pitch black room at an inn, yields to a strange glow. (Comfort At The Comet Inn) *** Each year, hundreds of people simply disappear from parks and forests. What happened to them – and where are they? (People Are Vanishing Into Thin Air In Our National Parks) *** A series of unexplained incidents took place in the early 19th century at the Chase Vault, in the cemetery of the Christ Church in Oistins, Barbados. Each time the vault was opened to bury a family member, all coffins but one had changed position. (The Chase Vault)==========HOUR TWO: A Virginia pilot encounters a mysterious golden orb during a skydive flight! *** For those who claim to have spoken with extraterrestrials, they are told the aliens arrive here from other worlds. But what if the so-called aliens aren't really aliens at all – what if they are humans, visiting from the future? We begin with that story! (Aliens: Us From a Future Time?) *** Horror and Sci-Fi author and Weird Darkness fan J.D. Buffington doesn't believe in such things as ghosts. If Houdini couldn't reach his wife from the other side, then certainly no one else could, either, right? But that being said, J.D. has had some weird stuff take place in his life. (My Many Ghostly Encounters) *** Soon after moving into a sprawling Denver mansion, Russell Hunter sensed he wasn't alone. I'll share true events that inspired the film, “The Changeling”. (The Real Life Haunting That Inspired “The Changeling”)==========SUDDEN DEATH OVERTIME: Known as California's Freeway Killer, William Bonin used a Ford van to lure in teenage hitchhikers to rape and ruthlessly murder. A dog vanishes chasing glowing red eyes in the darkness, couples are pursued at over 100 miles per hour by something with massive wings, and a terrified mother watches a gray humanoid creature shuffle onto her porch and peer through the windows—all in the same night that would mark the beginning of Point Pleasant's year of terror.Support our Halloween “Overcoming the Darkness” campaign to help people with depression: https://weirddarkness.com/HOPEIN THIS EPISODE: “I see dead people.” Today it's a meme seen in every corner of the internet. It began, however, as an incredible idea for a film - “The Sixth Sense” – and the reason the meme is so prevalent today, is because the film blew our minds with the unexpected twist ending forcing us to watch the film again. But what if your child were to truly tell you they were seeing dead people. Not imaginary friends, and not even the occasional monster in the closet… but actually seeing dead people. One woman in the UK is pondering that question with not one, but two children who are adamant they are seeing those who have already passed on. (My Children See Dead People) *** Steven Stayner was only seven years old when he was kidnapped and held for over seven years, being sexually molested by the man who grabbed him. But when another boy was brought in as the man's next victim, Steven turned from victim, to rescuer. (I Know My First Name is Steven) *** Stories of people in the past looking to the skies to see UFOs are becoming more and more common as we learn more of our history. But there was some very strange goings on in 1896 and 1897 with some flying contraptions, weird looking people, bizarre languages, and even a close encounter of the third kind. (America's Mystery Airships of 1896-97) *** From UFOs in 1896-97… to UFOs in 1966-67. But this time we add another element. Not only did a young man see a UFO, but the encounter appears to have taken him outside of time – and even changed his personality in the process! (Missing Time in 1966) *** In Blake Edward's 1965 classic comedy film, ‘The Great Race', the heroic Leslie and the despicable Professor Fate, engage in an epic automobile race from New York to Paris in the early 1900s. The film is actually based on a real race that took place in 1908 – and as hilarious as the ‘The Great Race' movie was, the actual race took stupidity to a whole new level. (The Great Race to Stupidity) *** As far as we know, it was the very first sighting of what we've come to know as The Mothman – and it was seen not by a single person or even a single couple – but by four people. Actually, “sighting” probably isn't the right word for it… as it ended up in a high-speed chase between the four people in one car, and Mothman giving chase. #WDRadio WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 28, 2025: Giant footprints at 20,000 feet, ancient Tibetan warnings, and mysterious disappearances in the mountains—the Yeti isn't just a legend. There are centuries of encounters from the Himalayas to Siberia, including evidence that made even skeptics into believers, with connections to unexplained phenomena that challenges everything we thought we knew about the Abominable Snowman.==========HOUR ONE: Is it possible that in 1927 we picked up signals from an artificial satellite sent to our planet by an extraterrestrial intelligence? Some believe the evidence is overwhelming. (Mystery of the Alien Satellite) *** When a great famine struck Europe in 1314, mothers abandoned their children and in some cases, even ate them. Could this be the gruesome beginnings of the story we know as Hansel and Gretel? (The Grimm Reality Behind Hansel and Gretel) *** But first… I doubt there's a single person over the age of twelve living in the modernized world that hasn't at least heard of Bigfoot. A large portion of them have probably heard it's other name – Sasquatch – as well. But far fewer are familiar with his even more reclusive Siberian cousin: the Russian Bigfoot that's we've come to know as the Yeti, or more fondly… the Abominable Snowman. We'll begin with that story! (Why They Call This Snowman Abominable)==========HOUR TWO: Ever heard of Shadrack Ireland? No, it's not a place – it's a person, actually. A preacher – and one of the most bizarre religious leaders ever to walk the soil of New England. And as strange as his religious practices and teachings were – his death was just as crazy. (The Perfect Man) *** Lisa woke up to find her boyfriend staring at her. When she asked him what was wrong, he replied, “I'm going to kill you and drink your blood.” Is it possible that the film, “Interview With The Vampire” made Daniel Sterlin turn into a real-life bloodthirsty monster? (Interview With The Wannabee Vampire) *** Gerald Foos built a secret passageway in his motel – not to smuggle drugs or store weapons, but so he could spy on his motel guests having sex. And it gets even creepier than that. (Peeping Tom Motel) *** A family loses two children by apparent poisoning… and then the mother's death two months later under the same mysterious circumstances. Obviously there was a murderer living amongst the family, or somewhere in the town. Wasn't there? (The Mystery of the Garrett Family's Tragic Deaths)==========SUDDEN DEATH OVERTIME: In 1938, stories of a "killer ghost" began to be told in eastern Kentucky. Even though no one ever saw this malevolent apparition, it was said to have caused five very similar and unexplained deaths.
