Hey, Neighbor! Don't mind The Podcast Ninja, with one foot out the door. He would much rather be watching the Pacers Game 7 than sitting at the table. (And, truly, he has done a LOT of communicating this week, so he has earned it.) Shout out to the China Compass podcast on the Fight Laugh Feast Network! Luke and Missionary Ben recorded their Final Game predictions and have plans to recap the whole series soon. Next: Women in basketball. Is it a good thing to "have each other's back" by beating the crap out of your opponents? Nobody condones violence... but they totally do! Finally: Are women actually more LOYAL to their tribe than men? Luke isn't convinced. But C.S. Lewis once wrote about the "intense family patriotism" of the wife/mother... Sara declarou: “Deus me fez sorrir. Todos que ficarem sabendo do que aconteceu vão rir comigo!” (21:6). Surpreendeu-a que ela pudesse amamentar uma criança na sua idade! Deus transformou seu riso cético, quando ela soube que daria à luz (18:12), em risos de pura alegria. Graças a Deus pela dádiva do riso!Por: ALYSON KIEDA

Welcome, Neighbor! We're continuing our rebroadcast of John's first podcast episodes, ever.  This is the Comedy Sojourn Episode #2, originally published in September 2016.  Please forgive the audio issues. We were rubes back then... (Not like now--because these days we always get our audio equipment to work perfectly.) Andrew and Tabby are John's two youngest children, and they have a lot to say about a spider they caught.  Should they kill it or catch-and-release?   In this episode: "You could get eight really good drumsticks from that spider." --John Branyan "We have butts, and we can't spin webs...cigarettes have butts, and they can't spin webs." Tabby is getting married later this week, but she won't come back to visit if Dad and Andrew let the spider go in the house.  "...Did you know, Dad, that some turtles breathe out of their butts?" --Tabby (Branyan) Farkas Later:  John and the Peaches talk about the Atheist Hospice Care Worker.  (With just a few interruptions from young girls with noisy toys.)  How can an Atheist assign value to end-of-life care? Quote from The Way of the Heathen: "We matter because we matter to each other in our own short time on our own short scale...we make each other important." The intro is fake news.  John isn't at the kitchen table--and The Peaches isn't co-hosting.  David Pendleton is a long time friend of the family and a gifted ventriloquist.  (That's the type of skill that translates well in an audio-only podcast, doesn't it?)   The men talk about various projects they're working on, but they DON'T want to be "intentional" with their conversation. (Ew.)   David wants the conversation to be interesting for you, Neighbor.  But--John isn't very worried about that...  Cue the unscripted discussion now! -Why do we only call our friends when we have something specific to talk about? (Or is that just a "Male Tendency"?) -What are the differences between "real conversation" and social media speeches? (And what's up with texting?) -The lack of human interaction is impacting how people actually THINK and process reality. AND MORE!...including some discussion about prison sentences and the death penalty.  You can find more information about David Pendleton's comedy by visiting anythingcantalk.com.  Also, reach out to John Branyan by emailing nextdoor@johnbranyan.com.  Thanks for visiting with us, Neighbor!

Hello, Neighbor! This is Part 2 of the Car Conversation, while John Branyan travels with The Peaches down to southern Indiana for a show.Have you read Prince Caspian by C.S. Lewis? That story provides a great analogy for how a High King needs to behave when it's time to take responsibility. Then--a Feminist author, Sheila Wray Gregoire, shared an old video clip from the original Candid Camera show. "Who says girls and women aren't visual creatures?!?!" (Answer: Um, nobody.) The young ladies are making eyes at their handsome new teacher, and it's all caught on film. But why do the Feminists think this is helping their case at all? Those girls are precisely the ones who need to be told not to dress provocatively just to get the teacher's attention. Later: These women clearly need to be disciplined (not whatever they have in mind when claiming "She Deserves Better"). But who's supposed to do the disciplining? Who has authority over them? The Peaches make the case that perhaps this is a MOTHERHOOD crisis and not a Fatherhood one. Perhaps it's the mature WOMEN who are supposed to tell these little girls-in-grown-bodies that they're embarassing us and giving womanhood a bad name. But...women are being taught to use "Gentle Parenting" techniques with their toddlers. So there's a lack of confidence in authoritative discipleship... Finally: What's going to happen in the next 20 years, when 5th-Wave Feminism has completely "liberated" women from all morality? When Modesty is a derogatory term, and it's hate speech to say women are sinners, too...then what will the big crusade be against? They probably will wage war against all references to Jesus Himself. The Comedian and the Peaches are in the car, taking a trip to southern Indiana. Come along for the ride! (Our GPS made the recorder glitch between the 13:00 and 14:00 minute mark... But it cleared up after that.) We'll kick it off with a riveting conversation about the benefits of being short--and the disorienting effect of new eye-glasses... Then, let's talk about the evolving role of a mother as her children grow in maturity. She has to be able to shift from "agreeableness" to a more "disagreeable" framework. What are the strengths and weaknesses of Agreeable/Disagreeable People? Typically women are more "agreeable," because they are equipped to deal with infants--who are very needy and dependent and can't be held to a higher standard until they've grown. It's easier to be the least mature person in a very mature system than to be the most mature person in a very immature system. Everyone wants to be the Baby of a very stable family--and no one wants to be the Manager of a whole bunch of babies! Later: We have more to say about Sheila Wray Gregoire, who released a book this week called "She Deserves Better." Why are so many Evangelical MEN afraid to call out these Feminists? Well, short version: they are hesitant for the same reason many women/moms don't want to discipline their own kids. (It feels Too Authoritative.) Books like "She Deserves Better" is creating perpetually immature women...girls who use their tears to get what they want. And, ironically, her whole strategy depends on men playing the role of Mommies who take care of these Baby Girls. Women have a big challenge in raising their children: constantly growing WITH them. "How do we know when it's time to comfort them and when it's time to challenge them?!" That's a very good question. And, just when we start to get a routine that seems to work for everyone, it's time for a growth spurt. When you try to sell a cookie-cutter message to EVERY girl/woman in the church, you are trying to sell a silver bullet formula that won't work for most girls/women. Finally: Being empowered means having responsibility. If you have power, you are capable of abusing it. But no one is warning these women about how to use their power, once it's given to them... Which is a recipe for disaster.-PITSTOP-You can reach out to the Comedian, John Branyan, by emailing nextdoor@johnbranyan.com .

Hey, Neighbor! Please enjoy Part 1 of this conversation with founding member of Casting Crowns, Juan DeVevo. For some reason, he hasn't yet moved his family to Indiana in order to live in our backyard. Sooooo, our long distance conversations tend to get pretty lengthy. John wants to talk about drama he started on Facebook recently by suggesting that Christians shouldn't be so quick to leave their churches... People don't read well; they think in memes. But, worse still, they treat church attendance like consumers treat a bad interaction with the manager of a restaurant... Juan sums it up nicely mid-episode: "You're drawing a line between, 'This is the place I get my oil changed' and 'This is my FAMILY.'" Pull up a seat and let's see if these two brothers are able to fix all the problems with the Church in the next 60 minutes... Please forgive the abrupt ending! haha. The intro is fake news. Waterbreak: 09/04/2022 Intro Good evening America! What does Big Eva and Joe Biden have in common, besides possible appearances on Epstien’s plane? They both are losing their minds. This Reminds me the difference between an atheist and big eva? The atheist is honest about not following the teachings of Christ. Most of the team is back and we are going to talk about So, grab your best scotch or Dr. Pepper and enjoy the show. Plug Redballoon Not so long ago, the American dream was alive and well. Employees who worked hard were rewarded, and employers looked for people who could do the job, not for people who had the right political views. RedBalloon.work is a job site designed to get us back to what made American businesses successful: free speech, hard work, and having fun. If you are a free speech employer who wants to hire employees who focus on their work and not identity politics, then post a job on RedBalloon. If you are an employee who is being censored at work or is being forced to comply with the current zeitgeist, post your resume on RedBalloon and look for a new job. redballoon.work, the job site where free speech is still alive! www.redballoon.work Belly Flop or Canon Ball What do you think are the top issues facing the evangelical church? Pastoral burnout? The LGBT=+ identity crisis? Fighting for your state to make abortion illegal? Church leaders getting arrested during the “pandemic”? This should be easy. Well, this past week, The National Association of Evangelicals came out with a report titled: “Loving the Least of These: Addressing a Changing Environment” and the goal of this study is to highlight how climate change will have the greatest impacts on those in poverty. Never mind what the pandemic did to the poor, no, big eva has to join with Greta Thunberg and speak against big Chrisitan families who own suburbans. Big Eva is in trouble, in trouble like Biden’s economy is in trouble. Biden’s economy is inflated with all the helium reserves of government school economics and Big Eva fog machines are running out. The tweet of the week came from GoThoughtLeader which stated: “Those who are angry about the loan forgiveness because they have already paid theirs off are like the day workers in Jesus' parable who are angry that the master paid the same amount to the laborers who showed up later in the day. #debtforgiveness #Forgiveness” Now, to be clear, this is a parody account, but he fooled some people, because it sounds so big eva. The point I want to drive home is that Big Eva will only address issues that the liberals give them permission to address, like climate change, immigration, or student loan forgiveness. This is why big eva went silent during the pandemic. This is why big eva whispers about RoeVWade being overturned. This is why big eva refuses to say anything that actually might set liberals off. But we want to be antifragile Chrisitans. The kind of Chrisitans that do not care what man thinks of us, and the kind of Christians that will say exactly what God wants us to say, in season and out of season. Our culture is full of cancer, and this cancer is impacting our classrooms, our politicians, our churches, our businesses and big eva will not stand up and fight against this cancer. It is refreshing when guys like Joe Rogan or Aaron Rodgers speak up, but shame on big eva for their silence. Just this passed week, Kyle Bass is an American investor and founder of Conservation Equity Management, was on Squawk Box speaking against ESG… Rod Martin respond to this video: https://notthebee.com/article/cnbc-guest-drops-straight-facts-about-the-disastrous-and-evil-esg-and-green-energy-policies-which-will-end-up-starving-the-poor-children-of-the-world-and-killing-many-of-them ESG will bankrupt businesses. How has our identity politics been fueled by a lack of discipleship from the church? News that John Branyan can trust: Sharks Dogs Cry Trump Isn't Satan Farley Blames Baptists for Inflation and Global warming. Outro: Go find ways to engage this world with your gifts and abilities, don’t hide your faith under a bushel, and to live out the Lordship of Christ in every area of your life.
