Duck season is getting closer, and it's officially that time of year when the scouting starts, the decoys come back out, and sleep gets a little harder to find. In this episode I talk about why preseason scouting is already underway and what I'm seeing as we get closer to opening day. Then we break down Oklahoma's new commercial waterfowl guide law (SB 2095), what it actually does, why it was passed, and whether other states like Kansas should consider something similar. After that, Patreon member Zach Seibert joins me to talk about hunting Black Brant on the West Coast. If you've never hunted or even seen a Brant, I think you'll enjoy learning about one of North America's most unique waterfowl hunts. And finally... Woody is back! It's been way too long. He shares another Johnny Cat story before counting down his latest Woody's Top 5, this time with some hilarious nicknames for hunters who shoot ducks on the water. Brant Pinvidic, Hollywood producer and author of The 3 Minute Rule, shares how he accidentally discovered his pitch methodology after being asked to help investment bankers stop putting people to sleep. He breaks down the WHAC method (What is it, How does it work, Are you sure, Can you do it), explains the critical difference between informative and engaging content, and demonstrates his framework live by helping refine the Unmistakable Creative podcast pitch. Brant discusses why most pitches fail in the first 3 minutes, how to capture attention through statements rather than questions, and why simplicity beats complexity when communicating ideas. Brant Hansen joins the MTNTOUGH Podcast for a raw, honest conversation about why so many men in their 40s and 50s feel lost, anxious, and joyless. He breaks down the performance-based mindset that worked in school and early career but eventually breaks down, the epidemic of isolation, and how the algorithm is dividing families and feeding anger. Brant shares powerful insights from his book Life Is Hard, God Is Good, Let's Dance on what real joy actually is (trust, not feelings), why we were never meant to stay angry, and the “strong hand” analogy that changes how we face life. He also opens up about his difficult upbringing and how he still trusts God.Join Dustin Diefenderfer, Founder of MTNTOUGH Fitness Lab and creator of the MTNTOUGH+ Fitness App in the top podcast for Mental Toughness and Mindset. This past week George K and A were off for the holidays. We revisit an episode from earlier this season. What if the best investment decision is one where no human is involved?Brant Meyer, partner at Trac VC joins the show this week to talk about the firm's approach, where algorithms — not partners in puffer vests — make every single call. Over 115 investments to date with zero human investment decisions. An 8.5% loss ratio, orders of magnitude less than traditional VC, would seem to suggest they're on to something.George K. and George A. wanted to know, if machines make the decision, what exactly is Brant's job? But the more interesting conversation isn't about the wins. It's about what the model forces you to confront. We assume removing the human removes the bias — but Trac's algorithms are trained on data with its own biases. Then there's the psychological dimension. Brant makes the case that most resistance to algorithmic investing is emotional rather than rational. VCs resist algorithms because the discretionary call is the whole point. The juice, as he puts it, is the feeling of knowing. Strip that away and you're threatening an identity.Which raises the question George K. and George A. keep circling: how did venture capitalists acquire oracular status in the first place? The hit rate doesn't justify it. The pattern recognition, Brant argues, was never really theirs to claim. And yet , no founder wants to take money from a robot. The relationship still matters. The question is just whether we've been confusing that relationship with the thing it was never actually doing.Mentioned:Trac VC's video

The Brutality of Frontier Warfare and the Dispossession of Native Nations. Guest: Professor Richard Bell. Molly Brant, a Mohawk woman, navigated the brutal Western frontier, which served as a massive thousand-mile battlefield characterized by "scorched earth" tactics against civilians. Most Native nations allied with the British to prevent patriot expansion onto their lands. However, following the war, the British betrayed their allies in the Treaty of Paris, ceding indigenous territories to the United States without consent. The conflict led to a lasting American national myth that distanced white patriots from their native neighbors, casting indigenous people as "savages" and justifying their displacement from ancestral homelands. 31750

In this episode, Brant Hansen argues that holding onto offense is killing us - spiritually, physically, and relationally. He had to decide whether the offense he experienced as a young person should be held on to or if he should release it. It led him to a simple, uncomfortable conclusion: righteous human anger doesn't exist in scripture, and the anger we carry, however justified it feels, is not what faithful people are called to hold. We talk about forgiveness, hypocrisy in the church, and what Jesus actually intended when he told us to love our enemies.Brant is an author of several bestselling books, including Unoffendable, and a syndicated radio host on more than 200 stations. Jasveen Sangha was seated at the breakfast table the morning of October 29th, 2023, when a headline flashed across the TV that would turn her glamorous world of privilege upside-down, Former “Friends” star Matthew Perry found dead at his Pacific Palisades home. A lump formed in her throat. Only days before she'd supplied someone connected to the actor 25 vials of liquid ketamine, enough to comatose an African elephant. She typed in a quick Google search: “Can ketamine be blamed for causing death?” Any hope she had that the story would simply fade away was quickly dashed. Despite his well-publicized struggle with drugs and alcohol, Perry, 54, was still worth millions and a legion of “Friends” fans demanded to know who was responsible for giving “Chandler” his fatal dose. In the months that followed, police arrested five individuals for having a hand in Perry's tragic demise. It wasn't a set of the usual suspects. Two physicians, a rehab counselor, the actor's live-in assistant, and an international, jet-setting socialite authorities dubbed “The Ketamine Queen” were among those arrested in connection with Perry's death. Imprisoned in the California Institution for Women in Chino, California, since 2024 for the murder of two young brothers killed in a hit-and-run, Rebecca Grossman is adjusting to a very different lifestyle than the one she was used to. The one-time publisher of a luxury lifestyle magazine and heir to a multimillion-dollar plastic surgery fortune hasn't taken her dramatic fall from grace lying down. Since being sentenced to 15 years to life for two counts of second-degree murder, Rebecca Grossman has tapped every resource available to her to avoid consequences, both criminal and financial. Her refusal to accept responsibility has weighed heavily on the family of the two victims, 11-year-old Mark and 8-year-old Jacob Iskander. On September 29, 2020 Rebecca was behind the wheel of a super-charged Mercedes-Benz that struck the boys in a crosswalk as their mother and younger sibling looked on in horror—having just barely survived themselves. An investigation into the crash revealed Rebecca was under the influence of alcohol and Valium, and perhaps more damningly, was engaged in a high-speed road race with her lover, former Major League pitcher Scott Erickson. After five years of conjecture and speculation, a jury will have the opportunity to decide once and for all on Erickson's level of culpability, and whether or not the Iskanders are owed a multi-million dollar sum from the Grossman's for the death of their two boys. What if the reason you feel stuck, disconnected, or burned out isn't your workload… but a lack of clarity on what truly matters to you?In this episode, I sit down with author and keynote speaker Brant to explore why knowing your core values—especially your non-negotiables—is the foundation for how you lead, live, and show up every single day. We dive into what's really behind the “belief crisis” so many people are experiencing in their work and lives, and why so many of us are operating on autopilot without even realizing it.Together, we unpack the difference between values you like and values you live by, and how that gap impacts your energy, confidence, decision-making, and sense of fulfillment. We also explore the idea that belief is a skill you can build—and how strengthening it can transform the way you lead yourself and others. This conversation is filled with powerful questions, real stories, and fresh perspective on courage, connection, conviction, and compassion—and how these pillars shape a life of alignment and purpose. If you've ever questioned your direction, struggled to trust your decisions, or felt out of sync with your work or life, this episode will challenge you to stop “winging it” and start living with intention.Because purpose isn't something you find—it's something you choose.Tune in and reconnect with what truly matters.Brant's Bio: Brant Menswar is a Cornell-certified leadership expert, bestselling author, and founder of Black Sheep Foundry—but what makes him different is simple: He's built an approach that works. For over a decade, Brant has researched the force behind every high-performing team: belief. Not vague inspiration. Not surface-level engagement. Belief rooted in personal conviction — the kind that shapes how people lead, decide, and show up.He's helped over 100,000 people discover what they stand for.. He's worked with Netflix, Verizon, Microsoft, NASA, and Hilton. And he's brought that same research-backed framework to leadership stages nationwide—combining the precision of a Cornell-trained expert with the energy of a former national touring rock musician. Before keynotes, Brant spent two decades as a national recording artist with Big Kettle Drum, earning Billboard recognition and SiriusXM airplay. He learned one thing on stage that changed everything: belief is contagious. When a crowd believes, they move. When a team believes, they perform. The result? Leaders who make decisions with conviction. Teams that trust each other. Cultures that perform under pressure.Marli Williams is an international keynote speaker, master facilitator, and joy instigator who has worked with organizations such as Nike, United Way, Doordash, along with many colleges and schools across the United States. She first fell in love with transformational leadership as a camp counselor when she was 19 years old. After getting two degrees and 15 years of leadership training, Marli decided to give herself permission to be the “Professional Camp Counselor” she knew she was born to be. Now she helps incredible people and organizations stop waiting for permission and start taking bold action to be the leaders and changemakers they've always wanted to be through the power of play and cultivating joy everyday. She loves helping people go from stuck to STOKED and actually created her own deck of inspirational messages called StokeQuotes™ which was then followed by The Connect Deck™ to inspire more meaningful conversations. Her ultimate mission in the world is to help others say YES to themselves and their big crazy dreams (while having fun doing it!) Ryan and Brant do a little Damage Control! . . . YOU DON'T KNOW MOJACK is a podcast dedicated to exploring the entire SST catalogue, in order, from start to finish. During the podcast we will discuss all the releases that are part of our core DNA, as well as many lesser-known releases that deserve a second chance, or releases that we are discovering for the very first time (we actually don't know Mojack!). First and foremost we are fans, and acknowledge that we are not perfect and don't know everything – sometimes the discussion is more about a time, place, feeling, personal experience or random tangents, and less about the facts (but we will try to get to the facts too).
