Check out Discipleship.org for resources on disciple-making: https://discipleship.org/resources/  Today's episode will help us move from self-reliance to Spirit-empowered living by embracing daily surrender and rediscovering the power of the Holy Spirit in our walk with Jesus. Stay Informed - Get our newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hPViAr   Empowering Every Believer: Activating the Priesthood of All Believers - Disciple Maker's Podcast Ep. 7   Unlocking the Power of the Holy Spirit: A Call to Bold Witness and Total Surrender   In this impactful episode, Josh Howard and Jason dive deep into the significance of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer. They discuss the challenges modern Christians face, including the startling statistic that 98% of Christians in America never share their faith outside of their immediate families. They highlight two main problems: the lack of witnessing and the often forgotten role of the Holy Spirit in many churches. Through scriptural examples, particularly from the Book of Acts, they showcase the transformative power of the Holy Spirit and the necessity of full surrender and consecration to experience true spiritual empowerment. They argue that without daily dying to oneself and being filled afresh with the Spirit, believers cannot effectively witness or make disciples. The conversation underscores the critical need for revival and a personal challenge to be a true burnt offering for God's glory. Join them in a heartfelt prayer of surrender, and take the first steps toward becoming a vessel for the Spirit's power in your life.   Get Discipleship.org's premium Podcast Feed: https://disciplemakerspodcast.supercast.com/    Key Takeaways    00:00 Introduction and Setting the Stage 00:52 The Role of the Holy Spirit in the Church 03:01 The Power of Witnessing and the Holy Spirit 05:57 Daily Surrender and Empowerment 12:18 Living Sacrifice and Community Support 22:35 The Demands of Discipleship 23:14 The Reasonableness of Total Surrender 24:27 Living as a Burnt Offering 30:02 The Power of the Holy Spirit 32:17 A Call to Radical Transformation 37:42 Prayer of Surrender 45:00 Final Thoughts and Encouragement   Check out our Blogs: https://discipleship.org/blog/  See Below for a longer description: Podcast Recap: S3 Ep. 2 – Life in the Spirit In this episode, Jason and Josh dive into a real, honest conversation about what it means to live a life empowered by the Holy Spirit. They go back and forth between light-hearted banter and weighty truths, creating a natural rhythm that feels both grounded and inspiring. They kick things off with a laugh, joking about how hard it can be to start episodes smoothly—before easing into the heart of the conversation. The big focus? The Church's need to make more room for the Holy Spirit—not just in Sunday services, but in everyday life. Jason shares how some churches unintentionally sideline the Spirit, joking about the tendency to worship “God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Bible.” Josh jumps in to remind us that real power—boldness, witness, and transformation—comes from the Holy Spirit. They unpack Acts 1:8, where Jesus tells His followers they'll receive power when the Holy Spirit comes. Josh points out a sobering stat: 98% of American Christians never share their faith outside their family. The answer isn't trying harder—it's surrendering deeper. Josh describes how the disciples went from hiding in fear to boldly preaching the gospel after being filled with the Spirit. He draws from Romans to say the same power that raised Jesus now lives in us—meaning we're equipped for far more than we realize. A key theme in the episode is daily surrender. Josh shares a vivid metaphor: believers “leak,” so we need to keep coming back for a fresh filling. They talk about how true revival starts when we lay ourselves down—day after day—like living sacrifices. They also explore the idea that you can't have Pentecost without Calvary. In other words, the power of the Spirit comes through death to self. Drawing on Old Testament sacrifices, they paint a picture of what it means to live fully surrendered—acknowledging our tendency, like a goat, to crawl off the altar. Community plays a big role here too. Josh emphasizes how we need each other to keep living that surrendered life—through encouragement, accountability, and prayer. Toward the end, they call out how the Western Church often gets caught up in debates and performance, losing sight of the simple, powerful truth: Jesus rose, and His Spirit lives in us. They warn against letting the flesh take the lead again and call for a return to Spirit-led living. The episode wraps with lyrics from a Casting Crowns song that challenge superficial faith and call for genuine heart change. It's a fitting close to a conversation all about real transformation—from the inside out. Jason and Josh finish with a heartfelt prayer, asking for the Spirit's guidance, power, and presence to shape every part of our lives. Bottom line: If you're hungry for deeper discipleship and lasting impact, it all starts with surrender—and the Holy Spirit is ready to lead the way.

What does it mean to call something “Christian music”? Nick Barré has spent decades in the music industry—from working at EMI with early Switchfoot to managing major names like Casting Crowns, KB, Brandon Heath, and more. In this 200th episode of The Biblical Mind, he joins Dru Johnson to reflect on the Christian music label, the tension between calling and category, and how artists navigate faith and fame. Nick argues that labeling music—or restaurants or plumbers—as “Christian” may do more harm than good. He shares why genre categories are a business necessity but spiritually unhelpful, and why the most important questions artists must answer are about calling, audience, and identity—not chart placement. From spiritual burnout to public affirmation, from the temptations of platform to the dangers of envy, Nick shares pastoral, industry-hardened wisdom on how to guide artists into longevity and spiritual wholeness. He even offers advice for aspiring Christian musicians—and what it really means to “show, not tell” when pursuing a creative calling. This week we’ll hear from singer, songwriter, and producer Mark Miller. For over four decades, Mark has been a driving force in music as the lead singer of the legendary country band Sawyer Brown. Beyond the stage, he’s been the guiding hand behind Casting Crowns, producing their music for over twenty years. Now, as Sawyer Brown celebrates its fortieth anniversary with a brand new album and a documentary directed by his daughter, Mark reflects on how his life and career have prayerfully unfolded. Later in the episode, we’ll hear from Hope Reagan Harris. Hope never set out to start a global movement. She was simply a wife, a mother, and a former corporate professional searching for her next steps. But when she leaned into where God was leading her, she discovered that purpose doesn’t pause—it multiplies. It’s just a part of everything that I do in my being. Well, I don’t have to worry about that when I think of who I am as a man. Because I know who I am in the eyes of Jesus.” - Mark Miller “God sees me right now. I’m not missing out. God has eyes on me, He’s seeing me, and He’s sending what I need right when I need it.” - Hope Reagan Harris “I look at my life and I feel like God is just reminding me that there’s nothing He can’t do. Other People's Shoes

Let's use our imagination for a moment.Picture a puzzle box—1,000 pieces, maybe more. You've just opened it. The pieces spill out across the table. As you begin flipping each one over, you try to envision what the finished picture will look like. Piece by piece, the image becomes clearer. You start to feel that satisfaction of progress… until you realize something's not right. Some pieces are missing. No matter how hard you search, they're just not there. This is more than just a frustrating puzzle. For Dr. Danisha Keating, it's a metaphor for her life.Danisha grew up in the foster care system—moving from place to place, often without answers or a sense of stability. As an adult, she recently attempted to retrieve her childhood records, hoping to uncover the truth about what led to her placement in foster care. She was seeking answers, clarity, and maybe even healing. But instead, she found redacted files. Pages of information blacked out. Details erased. Just like a puzzle with critical pieces gone. Her story brought to mind a song I hadn't heard in years: “Does Anybody Hear Her” by Casting Crowns. The lyrics still hit hard:"Does anybody see?Or does anybody even know she's going down today?Under the shadow of our steepleWith all the lost and lonely peopleSearching for the hope that's tucked away in you and me..."Danisha's story is one of heartbreak, yes—but also of incredible resilience. She has taken those blank spaces, those unanswered questions, and chosen to build something beautiful with what she does have. She's now a speaker, educator, and advocate—helping others find hope amid their missing pieces. In this episode, we lace up and try on Dr. Danisha Keating's boots—walking with her through trauma, silence, and discovery. You'll hear about what it means to grow up without a clear picture of your past, how to keep walking forward even when things don't make sense, and how empathy and awareness can change everything for someone still struggling to be seen.

Some churches are supportive of the 12-step program, providing meeting spaces, while others have objections based on misunderstandings. For over 50 years, For the Strength of Youth has been a guide for generations of Latter-day Saint youth. I always keep a copy in my pocket, and I share it with people who are curious about our standards. It has been updated and refreshed to better cope with the challenges and temptations of our day. The new version of For the Strength of Youth is available online in 50 different languages and will also be available in print. It will be a significant help for making choices in your life. Please embrace it as your own and share it with your friends. This new version of For the Strength of Youth is subtitled A Guide for Making Choices. To be very clear, the best guide you can possibly have for making choices is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the strength of youth. So the purpose of For the Strength of Youth is to point you to Him. It teaches you eternal truths of His restored gospel—truths about who you are, who He is, and what you can accomplish with His strength. It teaches you how to make righteous choices based on those eternal truths.13 It's also important to know what For the Strength of Youth does not do. It doesn't make decisions for you. It doesn't give you a “yes” or “no” about every choice you might ever face. For the Strength of Youth focuses on the foundation for your choices. It focuses on values, principles, and doctrine instead of every specific behavior. The Lord, through His prophets, has always been guiding us in that direction. He is pleading with us to “increase [our] spiritual capacity to receive revelation.”14 He is inviting us to “hear Him.”15 He is calling us to follow Him in higher and holier ways.16 And we are learning in a similar way every week in Come, Follow Me.   For a list of 100+ episodes of ACU Sunday Series visit- https://www.podbean.com/site/search/index?kdsowie31j4k1jlf913=85cb8104bdb182c048b714ad4385f9e82a3aeb49&v=ACU+Sunday+Series+ Note- Click on “100 Episodes Found” in upper right corner. --------------------------------------------------------------------    HELP ACU SPREAD THE WORD!  Please go to Apple Podcasts and give ACU a 5 star rating. Luke Hockenjos was on a fast track toward death until the Lord intervened and saved his life. After many years of drug abuse, running from the law, and alcoholism Luke decided he was ready to die. After being cut off on the interstate and a high speed chase, he pointed the nose of his truck toward the other vehicle and attempted to ram them off of a bridge. He heard the Lord say to him "This is not the plan I have for you, it's time for you to go." He put his truck in reverse and a few hours later stopped using drugs and surrendered his life completely to the Lord.At this point in time, Luke was homeless with no money to his name. He began seeking the Lord and travelling wherever God led him, which was all over the country. This trip was totally unplanned but guided by the Holy Spirit. Each leg of the journey Luke met person after person who encouraged him, gave him a few dollars for gas, and sent him further on his journey. Luke looked up the 100 largest churches in the United States and ended up at a church in Chicago, Illinois. When Hockenjos arrived at the church, he learned they were hosting a Celebrate Recovery meeting later that evening. Celebrate Recovery helps people break the chains of bondage to alcoholism, drug use and other addictions and dysfunctional behaviors. During the Celebrate Recovery meeting, Hockenjos said the Holy Spirit led him to a Casting Crowns concert in Georgia. Hockenjos arrived in the arena with the song “Overcomer” playing in the background. Hearing ‘Overcomer' showed him that what had recently happened to him was really real. Luke had overcome that which Satan was chaining him to. Luke then continued his journey to more churches and more casting crowns concerts.Luke finally returned to Ruston, Louisiana later that month and preached his first sermon in late 2014 at Unity Baptist Church in Oak Grove, Louisiana. “I was nervous and called my uncle and he said, ‘Son if you just give them Jesus, he will give you the rest,” he said. “It was at that moment that it took off. Through God's faithfulness Luke continues a life free from bondage to sin. “Looking back on my journey, God provided what I needed when I needed it,” he said. “To this day I have been in full time ministry. I have never missed a bill.”TO LEARN MORE VISIT: Don't Give Up, Give Em' Jesus - Home (giveemjesus.org)

It is to my great sorrow, that a dear friend, Tom Franklin, left his earthly home this past week.  Today, I'm replaying the podcast we did together and honor of his great example of living, loving and serving well. To honor Tom's memory donations can be made to New Life Christian Missions. PO box 647, Floyd Knobs, Indiana 47119.   To Charlotte, and Tom's family, my heart deeply grieves with yours.  Tom embraced Tony and I with our loss of Andrew in such a way as to inspire us to cling to our faith of one day, joining our son.  He encouraged and blessed us by his kind affirming words. Not once, not twice, but every time we had the privilege to speak to him.   When I heard the news this past week. My heart sank for his precious wife and family.  But I must say that my heart also smiled that he heard the words he's preached about his whole life. Well done my good and faithful servant! Welcome home.   We will miss you, Tom.  What a privilege to have walked this earth knowing you.   As the words of Casting Crowns comforts our hearts, Tom has laid his crowns at the feet of Jesus, as he joined with all of heaven in the everlasting song, Holy Holy Holy is the lamb upon the throne.   As you listen today take to heart Tom's wisdom and love of people. What he has to say about suffering, grief, lament and God's goodness. Join me as we listen and honor a legacy of a life well lived.

Each of us comes out of the womb trying to make sense of the world around us. The sights, sounds, and sensations—what do they mean, and what do we do with that information? To whom or where do we go to receive guidance? And when our role is to be the guide, how do we encourage another person to develop an 'ear to hear' what the LORD is saying? This weekend, we are talking about spiritual conversations with children, but truthfully, this is for everyone—Mom, Dad, Grandparent, and everyone in between. We think we all can take something from this important message for ourselves and for those we love! First time listening to our podcast? “Octave displacement is a really big thing with adolescent singers. Make a game out of it - I'll have them match me, match me up an octave, match me down an octave - versus scolding when you're in the middle of rep and someone is singing too low and you just point and say ‘that's too low.' That's a little ambiguous for the average 13-year-old. To give them the strength to identify it themselves is practicing the skill we want to see played out in the repertoire.”Since 2006, Mr. Oakes has served as Director of Choral Music and Music Instructor at The Baylor School, a grade 6-12 independent day and boarding school in Chattanooga. Under his direction, the choral program has grown to include over 200 participants in four student choirs and a faculty choir. In 2015, he was awarded Baylor's Glenn Ireland Chair for Distinguished Teaching and starts his service as Chair of Baylor's Fine Arts Department beginning with the 2019-2020 school year.Mr. Oakes also serves as Artistic Director of the Chattanooga Boys Choir, a music education and performance organization founded in 1954 which now includes over 120 choristers ages 8-18 in five ensembles. Including innovative performance opportunities and collaborative community initiatives, the CBC maintains a performance calendar of thirty appearances annually. The choir has performed and toured extensively, including performance tours to Europe, Canada, and Cuba. Recording opportunities for the CBC have included commercially-released recordings with Stephen Curtis Chapman, Casting Crowns, and the grammy-nominated NAXOS recording of Maurice Ravel's L'enfant et les sortilèges with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra. He is the former President of the ACDA's Southern Region and in 2012, he was selected as one of seven conductors chosen to represent the United States at the inaugural ACDA International Conductor Exchange Program in Cuba.As a conductor/clinician, he has conducted numerous honor choirs and festivals throughout the United States, including ACDA regional honor choirs. A lifelong advocate for music in worship, he has served churches in Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee and as a clinician/conductor for children and youth choirs at Lake Junaluska, Massanetta Springs, and Montreat church music conferences.Mr. Oakes earned the Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Florida and the Master of Sacred Music degree in Choral Conducting from Emory University. John 3:1-12 1 Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council. 2 He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him. 3 In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." 4 "How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!" 5 Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, "You must be born again. 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit. 9 "How can this be?" Nicodemus asked. 10 "You are Israel's teacher," said Jesus, "And do you not understand these things? 11 I tell you the truth, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. 12 I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?" Steve Teel interviews singer-songwriter Ben Fuller on this edition of Very Bold Radio! Steve Teel not only will carry Ben Fuller's guitar case any day, he will interview him any day and twice on Tuesday. Ben is the singer songwriter of hits: Who I Am (8 million streams on Spotify alone), But The Cross, If I Got Jesus, and new songs you just have to hear for yourself: Proud (we go deep into this powerful song on Father-child relationships), Other Plans (what a story!) and many more. In this interview Ben promises (threatens?) to do a backflip (shoutout Logan Cain), even sings a little “Cain”, and references conversation with the Cain band and Taylor Cain Matz about the power of God's word and the dangers of neglecting God's written word. Ben talks about the blessing of the platforms given to musicians but also that we ALL have gifts from the Lord and must lean into our special gifts. He shares a story on Mark Hall of Casting Crowns about being on stage and how easy it is to not invite the Holy Spirit to the party. Ben is currently on tour with We Are Messengers and Jonathan Traylor and talks about the show being realness, sweet, kind, without the competition that sometimes can be found. Most of the second half of the interview (16 minutes to 32 minutes) is spent going into the story (and backstory) of the song, Proud, as well as talking about how the love of God brings healing to relationships.  This is powerful song and also powerful story here of how God can bring healing to father-child relationships. Ben Fuller has depth in his relationship with Christ. That depth comes out in his songs and in his conversations and in this interview. Compassionate Communities: a Key to Crime Reduction

The Unlovely Truth

Do some people deserve the suffering they are enduring? Or Should there always be room for compassion when criminal behavior regardless of why a person did what they did, ends in tragedy? If your community is struggling to find its way in a crisis you'll want to hear how Dr. William Cooke has done it in tiny Austin, Indiana.    This is Season 5, Episode 11. We're going to take a two part deep dive into Dr. William Cooke's incredible book, “Canary in the Coal Mine: a Forgotten Rural Community, a Hidden Epidemic, and a Lone Doctor Battling for the Life, Health, and Soul of the People”. We'll also talk about ideas for how anyone can be what I call a different kind of P.I. - not a private investigator like me but a person of impact in your community.    The U.S. Census Bureau says that roughly 20% of the U.S. population lives in a rural area, even though urban areas make up only 3 percent of the U.S. land area. That often means that our rural citizens may not always have direct access to things most of us take for granted. In Austin Indiana from the mid 1970's until 2004, the down had no doctor of it's own. When Dr, William Cook set up his practice he had no idea the journey he was about to take.   Not very many doctors start solo practices in impoverished areas, but Dr. Cook felt that was his calling. Some of his patients had never seen a doctor before. That's not something we expect to hear in America, is it?   Every church has physical, emotional, and spiritual safety issues. Most just don't know it. Are you going to wait for a trainwreck to occur before you address them? Helping churches be proactive about safety is why I wrote “Reclaiming Sanctuary: Enhancing Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual Safety in Our Churches”. I know how hard it can be to address unpleasant issues because I've been where you are - in a leadership position needing an intentional approach customized to the needs of my unique church.    I'm offering a free 20 minute strategy call for church leaders to see if my work might be a good fit for you. Email me today at lori@theunlovelytruth.com and we'll start a conversation about your church's needs and how we can work together to create a customized plan for your church. Schedule your no risk, all reward call today!   Luke 5:31-32   Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.  I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”   The teachers of the law, the religious folk of the time, tried to trap Jesus so many times. After He called Levi to follow Him, these leaders asked why Jesus and His followers would eat and drink with people they called “sinners”.  How easy it can be to fall into that trap.    Does it remind you of the people who criticized Dr. Cooke for his work, and even threatened him? Does it remind you of anything else? Maybe something you've seen in your church? I know I've seen it in churches I've attended. I've probably even been guilty of it myself.   God can't use us when we are showing that kind of pride. Casting Crowns has a great song called “Jesus, Friend of Sinners” . One line that really makes you think is “Nobody knows what we're for, only what we're against, when we judge the wounded”. I know that using drugs isn't a good choice. Selling your body isn't a great choice. But we don't always know what has driven a person to make those choices.   Jesus would've hung out with drug addicts, and the homeless, and the sex workers. So why aren't we? And if you do, I'm really glad to hear it. If you don't, maybe it's because you just don't know how. If your church doesn't have a ministry to feed the homeless, maybe you can work with another church's ministry or a local non-profit. I don't recommend going into a homeless camp by yourself though. Criminals will target the homeless because they are so vulnerable. If that type of ministry isn't for you, consider leading a Bible study in your local jail. I've done that before and the vast majority of the women I met had drug addiction issues. Many turned to sex work to feed their habits, or after being pressured by their so called boyfriend. They need to hear that there is hope and that God still loves them. You'd be surprised how many were raised in church and have no idea that they have any worth or value.   This book that we made it halfway through today just breaks my heart.  I was raised in Indiana so a lot of the places and names are very familiar to me. But really this book could've been set just about anywhere. Every communities struggles with these issues whether we want to admit it or not.    Let me know what you thought of this episode!   If We Are the Body 1 Corinthians 12:12-31   “If we are the body why aren't His arms reaching? Why aren't His hands healing? Why aren't His words teaching? And if we are the body, why aren't His feet going? Why is His love not showing them there is a way?” Casting Crowns, If We Are the Body, chorus.     "'If We Are the Body' addresses a problem I've seen in churches all over - that churches are a lot like a circle. Circles are great if you're in the circle, but most people find themselves outside that circle for whatever reason.   There's not a sign on the door but you get the feeling they've got everybody they need. You're welcome to come, but you're not really ever going to be part of the circle and that's certainly not what the Bible teaches." Mark Hall   “I love this song. I agree with it completely. I've been to a lot of different churches where I just didn't feel welcome whatsoever. That's why I ended up in the church I'm in because people opened up to me and made me feel like I belonged.” Shebalba8   “My church that i grew up in had cliches and... it felt really uncomfortable. the church I am at now... it's like a 180. all it takes is a simple introduction to make a person feel at home. it won't kill ya...” Itzadoozy   “I really love the lyrics for this song. How often do people judge others who come to their church or judge other Christian's b/c they have beliefs slightly different from theirs? We are all brothers and sisters in Christ, and we must stand together or perish.” Singmesweet   If we are the body, we will value unity and diversity.   2. If we are the body, we will recognize the inestimable worth of each part.   3. If we are the body, we won't elevate one set of gifts above another, but we'll be mutually dependent on one another.   4. If we are the body, we won't divide over our spiritual gifts, but rather we will use them to build each other up and to care for each other.   5. If we are the body, we will rally around Christ, our ultimate unifying member of the body.   6. If we are the body, we will be driven by something far greater than our giftings, we will be driven by our love for one another.

SHOW NOTES Thanks for hanging out with me today, on Christmas.  I know you're probably struggling today, so I want to walk through the lyrics of our ‘Song of the Week' and share 5 Bible verses to remind you why there is still hope.   Had I not gone through the kind of pain that took my breath away, and made me doubt I'd EVER stop crying, I wouldn't be telling you how possible it is – regardless of how it feels to you today.   I would read the successful journeys from grief 2 great days of others, and I thought, yeah, that's them – it'll never happen for me.  But God is no respecter of persons, so I too went from pitiful to peaceful and He gave me a calling I never expected.    Regardless of how hopeless you feel today - you can still hope for a future where you can breathe again – where you can laugh again and where you can live again.    WORD of the Week   Romans 12:12   Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation and continuing constant in prayer. On today's episode, we chat with Justin Gambino! Since 2015, acclaimed Texas-based singer/songwriter Justin Gambino has been developing an enthusiastic following across the United States and around the world with his charismatic live performances and hope-filled anthems. With an EP, a full-length recording, and numerous cinematic music videos to his credit, Gambino's signature songs include “Your Hands & Feet,” “Anchored” and “Going Under.” He's performed at festivals, churches, camps and other venues, opening for such genre leaders as TobyMac, for KING + COUNTRY, Crowder, Casting Crowns, Skillet and Switchfoot. Gambino's testimony is a consistent theme in his music and ministry. A rebellious teen, he was arrested for theft at the age of 18. Opting for military enlistment and community service in lieu of incarceration, he spent eight years in the US Navy. While serving in Iraq, Gambino was asked to lead worship on base, rekindling a love for music he first embraced as a child. Battling PTSD and anger issues following his military service, Gambino turned to alcohol and spiraled into depression and despair. One night, on the floor of his apartment, he cried out to God for help and a new journey of redemption, hope and purpose began. Coming full circle, Gambino now holds the Brazoria County Revival each year on the steps of the Texas courthouse where he was sentenced as a teen. Made New, the second full-length studio recording from acclaimed singer/songwriter Justin Gambino, is now available everywhere. Tracing his prodigal years and the abounding grace and mercy Gambino embraced when he finally returned to the Father, Made New was produced by Nashville-based session player and producer Walter Halliwell.  --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christianmusicguys/message

Why are we here on earth? And where do we go after we die? We've all asked these questions hoping to discover the purpose of life. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—believe that God has a plan for us. It's called the plan of salvation, and it contains the answers to life's questions. Jesus Christ is the central figure in God's plan. Before we were born on earth, we lived as spirit children of our Heavenly Father. He sent us to earth to receive a physical body and to learn and grow through life's experiences. God wants us to learn to do good and follow His Son, Jesus Christ. One way we show our love for God is by obeying His commandments. Of course, God knew we would make mistakes. As part of the plan of salvation, Jesus Christ would be born on earth. He would teach us, establish His Church, and suffer and die for our sins. Because He suffered all things, He can provide us relief from our sorrows and sufferings. ACU Endorsed Charities -------------------------------------------------------- Pre-Born! Our mission is to bring relief to the poorest of the poor in the countries where we serve. We strive to reflect God's unconditional love. It's a sacrificial love that embraces all people regardless of race or religion. We believe that we can show His love by serving the “least of these” on this earth as Christ challenged us to do in Matthew 25. As we near the end of our week focusing on tilling the soil of the heart, today we're going to look at the role of community in positioning ourselves to receive all that God longs to give. God is calling us into a deeper commitment to love others, and be loved by others. He wants to use us and those he's placed around us to guide us deeper into fullness of life. So as we set our eyes on him, may he fill our hearts with compassion and love, and desire to be fully known and fully loved by our communities. Our Scripture for today comes from Romans 12:4-5, and today's worship is  If We Are The Body by Casting Crowns. -- Thank you for listening to today's podcast.   If listening to this podcast today stirred up painful emotions for you, maybe because you've been harmed by those in your community before, I want you to know that there is space for you to focus on healing your heart and finding a group of people that are lifegiving for you. In any community there are problems, but some communities can be especially harmful. But know in the midst of getting healing, that you are still made to love and be loved by others. And if possible, try and keep an open mind and an open heart to God, allowing him to lead you wherever he would have you go.    Make sure to rate and review the podcast today, and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day. May God bless you as you seek him.

Today we're going to explore God's healing for our past wounds and present scars. There is so much power in forgiveness, so much healing in reconciliation.   May you find healing today for any wounds or scars you've been carrying, whether big or small. And may you find a greater measure of abundant life as the result of God's presence and mercy. Our Scripture for today comes from 1 Peter 2:24, and today's worship is Healer by Casting Crowns.  – Thanks so much for listening to today's podcast on God's desire to heal past wounds and present scars. How amazing is it to have a God who sees our need, and meets that need, with his compassion and love.    Before you go, I want to encourage you to take just a few moments to reflect on what the Lord did in your heart today. Reflect on the reality of his healing. And let that time of reflection spur you on towards greater openness to the healing touch of God's presence.    Have a wonderful rest of your day, and may God bless you as you seek him.  -   We are so excited to announce our very first First15 Kid's Devotional book, My Time With God.    Get your copy of First15's first ever devotional book for kids today!   My Time with God is a 20 day devotional written for young readers, ages 6-12, to help encourage and equip them to establish a lifetime of learning and walking with God through daily scripture reading and reflection. Each day of this 20 day devotional includes scriptures, activities, and prayers to help growing believers learn how to connect more deeply with God and about how spending time with God helps us live the life he's called us to.    This resource is foundational, answering questions such as,    What is a devotional? What is prayer? Why spend time with God? What does it mean to enjoy God's presence? “When we choose to love God and let ourselves experience his love, he also teaches us how to love others. Living for love means living like Jesus did. He was always thinking of others.” Request your copy of First15's new kids devotional, My Time With God, today by going to supportfirst15.org, and help your kids explore spending time with God each and every day! As we near the end of our week-long series on experiencing the promises of God, today we're going to look at how living with faithful action, being the hands of feet of Jesus, position us to experience more of God's promises. May God guide us to into a work birthed from the place of abiding in him, that our lives would be marked by the fruit of God's promises coming to fruition every day. Our Scripture for today comes from 2 Corinthians 5:18-19, and today's worship is If We Are The Body by Casting Crowns.   --   Thank you for listening to today's podcast.    As you go about your day today, look for one or two opportunities to simply connect with someone around you in a meaningful way. One of the best ways we can be Jesus' hands and feet is by asking good questions, and listening. So take the opportunity before you today to truly love someone as Jesus did, by laying aside distractions and connecting with others in a meaningful way.    Make sure to subscribe to the podcast if you haven't already, and make sure to give First15 a fresh rating and review.    Have a wonderful rest of your day, and may God bless you as you seek him.
