I will be talking about all three John Carpenter's take on his Vampires film series. Vampires (1998) Recovering from an ambush that killed his entire team, a vengeful vampire slayer must retrieve an ancient Catholic relic that, should it be acquired by vampires, will allow them to walk in sunlight. Vampires 2: Los Muertos (2002) A vampire hunter and a priest fight a band of the walking dead in Mexico. Vampires 3: The Turning (2005) An American muay-thai fighter in Thailand must join forces with a group of vampire hunters to track down and kill a vampire lord who has kidnapped his gilfriend.
We watched the cinematic masterpiece that is John Carpenter's Vampires. One of us made it all the way through the movie, you'll find out who. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.
A forgotten gem of New Mexican film cannon, this piece is exceptional for-- Juuuust kidding. This ain't art. Well, maybe some ass can be art. And if you agree, you're in for a treat! This is sex, violence, a little more sex, and Daniel Baldwin in his signature role as a human torch. But not like the one from Fantastic Four... waaaay better. Danny was on his m.e.t.h.o.d. man, I could feel that shit. @ilmperez @mateo_pagina @alejandromontoyamarin @lenwords --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/watching-this/message

What better movie to review when oldening than the one that promises eternal youth for bloodshed?! This week, we review The Lost Boys, starring Jason Patric as Michael, Mike, Mikey, Mikowski. His brother, Sam, is played by the late Cory Haim, while his mother is played by Academy Award Winner, Dianne Wiest (Edward Scissorhands, Hannah and Her Sisters). Horror veteran, Corey Feldman (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Goones, Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter) plays Edgar Frog, half of Santa Carla's local vampire patrol. When Michael, Mike, Mikey, Michelangelo falls for Star, played by Jami Gertz (Sixteen Candles, Less than Zero, Solarbabies), he comes into the haunting gaze of the leader of the Lost Boys: David. David is played by Keifer Sutherland (24, Young Guns, Flatliners), who shockingly has the least lines of any major character in the film. You would never know it based on his performance. The goons tackle trivia, give the main players nicknames, and rank the film against THE PANTHEON OF SLASHERS!!! This episode definitely starts off with the worst of the best as Dave and Paul talk 1998's John Carpenter's Vampires. They talk about James Woods forehead, casting the worst Baldwin and find four or fives things about this film that are actually good (spoiler alert, the ending isn't one if them). Then they stay in 1998 to gush over the creature feature that is Deep Rising. They once again pay their respects to Hollywood Pictures, try and think of another film Treat Williams is in and try and take control of Dave's......admiration?....of Famke Jensen. All this plus several unecessary Mortal Kombat references and Mandolorian talk.Listen to us on iTunes or wherever you get your podcasts. Stalk us on Facebook or Instagram.

A group of trash vampires waste their immortality so that they can focus on their location-rotating fight club that has less rules than Tyler Durden's. The only thing that can stop them - horrible karate, bullet dodging DEA agents, and post-production effects that are just the presets in Adobe Premiere. Yuck! Let's get out the disclaimer on this one - it's extremely budget and put together by people who have no experience in film, but hey! They got it done, right? They got their movie finished. So we'll give them that. The rest of the film though, good night. This is one to steer VERY far away from, fam. It's not necessarily the acting or the "story" or the horrendously bad karate that is the problem. It's the over-editing and after-effects (trademark Adobe), mixed in with the wall-to-wall Nu-Metal. Within 5 minutes, I would argue that 80% of our fandom would abort this within 5 minutes due to it's awful design. There is also a particular sex-scene that is less sexy than Tommy Wiseau's ass. It's vomit-inducing if you don't like watching ugly people do it. I'm sure they are nice people, but holy hell.... Now, there are some good things sprinkled here and there within. The karate is hilariously bad, the "plot" does move rapidly, and there's some pretty cringe-worthy acting. The plot is unfounded and easily puts these vampires in a bracket of cool below the cave-dwelling dirtballs in John Carpenter's Vampires. We have to give this one a do not.
This week there were conflicting schedules to record a new podcast, so we decided to treat you with something different. It is the full version discussion Kenny and Marcus had from the introduction of the John Carpenter's Vampires episode. Kenny shares his views on dinosaurs, how old the earth really is, the moon landing and the Loch Ness monster. Marcus stutters uncontrollably due to frustration. Enjoy!
Back from the future, Ben Eller and Steven Spratling are talking about John Carpenter's Vampires. It's a vampire western full of hatable characters! Why IS James Woods? Is Daniel Baldwin really Fred Flinstone? Do we need detestable people to play detestable characters? (Probably) Music by Ben Eller
On this episode we bring back our good friend Kenny and yell at him for not believing in Dinosaurs!!! We also found time to talk about John Carpenter's Vampires which we all liked! Except maybe for Kenny since he doesn't believe in dinosaurs.....
Steve & Izzy continue John Carpenter Month with this 1998 treasure that takes a unique look at the world of vampires & their hunters starring James Woods & Daniel Baldwin. It's an ULTRA LONG podcast!!! The Goblins, getting an early start on Halloween, get deep about the topic of death... Why? Cause Kenny's Grandma died... Does this mean there will be "4 Grandmas"??? Has ghost hunting changed their views on death and the afterlife? Jess REALLY wants a part in The Hale Center Theater's Christmas Carol, Chunga and Spinari go see "The Visit". Did they like it?? Kenny and Jess think zombies are dumb. Hobbit actor Manu Bennett gets arrested at a convention. Chunga gets most of his religion from The Bible and John Carpenter's "Vampires". Do religious people think ghost hunting is dangerous? The cast of Jess' play hates Chunga and Kenny... But mainly Kenny. Spinari plays a prank on Jess... Everyone pays the price... Johnny Depp has a new movie, is it good? Kenny also reviews "Everest"!!!
