Today’s episode is all about overcoming life’s huge obstacles. Listen in on today’s episode as we chat with Kristen Moeller on how she found her path to Morgan James. Learn about her new book Phoenix Rising: Stories of Remarkable Women Walking Through Fire. How do you go on after you've lost everything? Over several terrifying summers, deadly wildfires raged across Colorado. Lives were lost, and the flames destroyed thousands of homes. When the smoke cleared and only rubble remained, survivors were left trying to find a way forward against devastating loss. The aftermath of that destruction would span many years, and its effects are still felt today. In "Phoenix Rising," twenty women share their stories of fire, the terror they felt as flames engulfed their communities, and the dark desperation that followed. And how---in the ensuing weeks and months---they worked to recreate a life from the ashes. Their tales of fear and bravery, of deep compassion and heart-rending grief, offer an uplifting chronicle of human courage and resilience. In "Phoenix Rising" written by women united by wildfire, they have the privilege of stepping into those moments to stand in the hallways of their shock and fear, grief and disorientation, and then, armed with the wisdom of retrospection, walking out into whatever comes next. Speaking of what’s coming next, next we’ll learn what she is up to and how she helps people whose path may not have made it to a traditional publishing deal with her involvement with Persona Publishing, the Morgan James self-publishing path.

After losing her dream home and all her worldly possessions to a raging and sudden wildfire that killed three people and demolished 21 homes, Kristen Moeller dove headfirst into an exploration of our cultural discomfort with grief, the existence of God, finding humor in the midst of tragedy – and what it means to be a human being with all our fabulousness as well as frailties. Drawing on her two decades of training in psychology and personal growth as well as her own recovery from addiction in 1989, Kristen is a voice for the countless others who beg to be heard in their wild journey through this wacky world. We don’t try; we give up. We sell out and we forget who we are. We are afraid to succeed, afraid to fail, and afraid to say we are afraid. But as Wayne Gretzky said, “You'll always miss one-hundred percent of the shots you don't take!” Kristen Moeller's mission in life is to inspire you to get on the path, move forward and take the shot. The time has come to stop waiting for the world to make sense. The time has come to stop waiting for life to slow down and things to settle out. The time has come to live our lives anyway—in the face of waiting, of massive upheaval, as well as everyday stumbling blocks. If this really is our “one wild precious life,” what are we doing about that? Will we live in fear of the other shoe dropping? Or will we go forth anyway, into the unknown, embracing the uncertain and reveling in the wildness of the in-between? Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, “WOW . . . What a ride!”
The Call to Begin—Kristen Moeller was a successful author and radio show host. She had “everything” we think we want. And then she lost it all in a fire. A book with a thrilling question was born out of that experience: What Are You Waiting For? Kristen shares how she began again out of the ashes to experience life at a deeper, holier, sweeter level. Listen to learn how she walked through the fire and how you can too.
