Dr. Corinne Low is not your typical Wharton professor. An economist whose research focuses on gender, discrimination, and the hidden costs of modern parenthood, she's also a mother, wife, and author navigating the very struggles she studies. I sit down with Dr. Low to talk about her new book Having It All (out September 23rd), a data-driven yet deeply personal guide to escaping the false promise of “work-life balance.” From the silent epidemic of exhausted mothers to the stubborn realities of unequal housework—even when women are the breadwinners—Dr. Low pulls no punches in showing us why the overwhelm isn't in our heads. It's in the data. With humor, candor, and hard truths, she invites us to redefine success on our own terms, reclaim our roles as the protagonists of our lives, and maybe even throw away the houseplants for a while. What you'll hear in this episode goes far beyond economics—it's a wake-up call for anyone who's ever felt like they're “failing” at doing it all. Spoiler: the system is failing you, not the other way around. From Single Mom Upbringing to Wharton Professor: How Dr. Low's childhood shaped her drive for career stability and independence. (04:58)The Silent Epidemic of Parental Time: Why today's parenting feels harder, and the data proving we're not crazy for feeling overwhelmed. (05:28)From Journalist Dreams to Economist Reality: Dr. Low's path from writing aspirations to a career in economics and research. (14:43)Facing Discrimination Myths with Data: What her research actually reveals about gender, discrimination, and reverse discrimination. (18:42)Winning the Bread and Baking It Too: Why female breadwinners still do more at home, and how gender roles refuse to budge. (23:13)The 30-Year Squeeze: How careers, childcare, and aging parents collide to make midlife especially exhausting. (31:26)Reclaiming the Protagonist Role: Why women must stop being supporting characters in their own lives. (35:06)Redefining Success in Economic Terms: Why utility—deep joy and satisfaction—is a better measure than the white picket fence. (38:48)Tuckered Out Moments: From pumping on Amtrak to juggling a newborn and a book launch, Dr. Low shares her real-life exhaustion stories. There are many, many people out there talking about abundance. They say that if you think only positive thoughts and emotions, if you build the right kind of vision board, you will find yourself gifted with all your dreams come true. Not only is that a bargain with the Universe, but that method puts us into the future, instead of in the now. So how do we stay present and yet achieve our life goals. Today we are going to talk about what really belongs to us. And how it is that we can access it. Don't miss it.

In this first of a two-part episode, Dave and Dante interview Megan Basham about her new book "Shepherds For Sale." Megan Basham is a culture reporter for the Daily Wire and the author of Beside Every Successful Man: A Woman's Guide to Having It All. She is a frequent contributor to Morning Wire, one of the top 10 news podcasts in the United States. She has also written for the Wall Street Journal, the Telegraph, First Things, National Review, and World Magazine, where she worked as a film and television editor. In Shepherds for Sale, Megan Basham of the Daily Wire documents how progressive powerbrokers —from George Soros, to the founder of eBay, to former members of the Obama administration— set out to change the American church. Their goal: to co-opt evangelicals for political purposes. She exposes: ·        The left-wing billionaires, foundations, and think tanks that deliberately target Christian media, universities, megachurches, nonprofits, and even entire denominations ·        The celebrity megachurch pastor who secretly encouraged a group of pastors to change their views on sexuality ·        The revered Presbyterian theologian who backed a congregation rebelling against his own denomination These are just a glimpse into the compromises and astroturf campaigns Basham uncovers. Many evangelical leaders are pushing their members to “whisper” about sexual sins, reconsider the importance of abortion, lament the effects of climate change, and repent of “perpetuating systemic racism.” And in exchange for toeing a left-wing line, many of those church leaders and institutions have received cash, career jumps, prestige, and praise. Basham brings the receipts, and names names. A rigorously reported exposé, Shepherds for Sale is a warning of what happens when the church trusts the world's wisdom instead of Scripture.  Find Megan Here:  Megan Basham on X Megan Basham Instagram For more about the Legacy Dads, visit Legacy Dads today!

Should we criticize the Church? What about its leaders? If so, how and when would we do it? Megan Basham, an author and reporter for the Daily Wire, joins The Narrative podcast to answer these questions in the context of her new book, Shepherds for Sale. Along with co-hosts CCV President Aaron Baer, Policy Director David Mahan, and Communications Director Mike Andrews, Megan discusses the key decision between admitting misunderstanding and compounding foolishness, how the secular left has strategically coopted universal truths of the Gospel, and how Church leaders should respond to breaking news and crises like COVID. Before the conversation, Aaron, David, and Mike uncover how the children's hospitals' gender clinics have changed following the enactment of the SAFE Act, and how the media is ignoring the savings school choice is providing Ohio. We're not like other girls… Join us for our most recent episode as we offer a critical re-evaluation of the figure of the bimbo and deconstruct societal preconceptions of femininity at large through our own cosima bee concordia's essay “My Official Bimbo Diagnosis”. With our two remaining brain cells we ponder, why does everyone seem to hate femininity so much, and why it is that femininity is seen as a threat to feminism? We argue (to the degree that bimbos can string ideas together) that femmephobia is in part the result of an aesthetic double bind. This double bind normatively expects us all to perform gender while also punishing or shaming those who perform gender “too much”. The “too much” of gender is dangerous because it wrests us from the pervasive myth that gender is natural. In a patriarchal world where the masculine is the neutral ideal, femininity is always “too much” and thus provides a useful scapegoat to perpetuate misogyny in both men who hate women and feminists alike.  In an effort to challenge these totalizing power dynamics we examine the extent to which it is both possible, and necessary -- albeit not without risk -- to take pleasure in gender even though it is gender that oppresses us. In what ways can we re-purpose the too much of gender? How can the BDSM dungeon as seen through Susan Stryker's “Dungeon Intimacies” be “a technology for the production of (trans)gendered embodiment”? And finally, could it be that the only gender binary that matters is Gender Minimalism vs. Gender Maximalism? For discussions on all those questions and more, listen to “Bimbo Theory: A Gender Maximalist Guide to Having It All”Read "My Official Bimbo Diagnosis" by cosima bee concordiaTo not miss out on episodes and get bonus content, sign up for our Patreon -- you're what makes this show possible!Intro and outro song is "Bless You" by the Ink Spots Get access to full bonus episodes, an exclusive RSS feed, and more by subscribing our Patreon! What does it mean to "discipline your thinking" and how is this directly tied to you feeling like you have it all? I want to shine light on what is probably the biggest thing keeping you from having it all in your life -- undisciplined thinking. Undisciplined thinking is being a victim to your thoughts. Undisciplined thinking leads to feelings of angst, fear, worry, anxiety, anger, resentment, and pain....consistently. Undisciplined thinking, when left unchecked, will be what sabotages you from HAVING IT ALL and truly being in love with your life. I had my own experiences recently that showed me where I was in my mental discipline, and laid out in front of me very plainly how chaotic things can get within my mind and body when my thoughts are left unchecked. More on that in a minute. Ask yourself this question: how disciplined am I with my thoughts, one a 1-10? How effective am I at steering my thoughts in a direction I want them to go in? How comfortable am I being with my own thoughts? In today's episode, I'm bringing you wisdom from Dr. Joe Dispenza, Abraham Hicks and Shi Heng Yi about the power of your thinking and the importance of cultivating control over your thoughts.
