Are you tired of religion that feels dry, rigid, or lifeless? In Dead Orthodoxy, Ryan Denton delivers a piercing yet hopeful call for Christians to rekindle their love for the Lord and revive their spiritual vitality. Drawing from Scripture, church history, and personal insight, Denton confronts the suffocating effects of a Christianity that is merely formal, complacent, and intellectual. With the precision of a theologian and the urgency of a revivalist, Denton smashes the idols of tradition and pride, dethrones empty formalism, and encourages Christians to embrace the living, experiential power of God through His Word and Spirit. Each chapter invites readers to reflect deeply, ask hard questions, and rediscover the joy of a “felt Christ.” Whether you're battling lukewarm worship, grappling with mediocre personal devotions, or yearning for revival in your church and your own heart, Dead Orthodoxy offers practical wisdom and a roadmap to renewed faith. Be challenged. Be encouraged. Be transformed. This book is for those brave enough to examine their souls and courageous enough to embrace the Spirit's call to repentance, renewal, and vibrant living.

In our afternoon sermon series, I have been preaching on things that separate us (Mountains of Bether) from the Lord and how He overcomes them. The main focus here is not on what we must do when we are separated from Him, but on what He does to overcome the things that separate us. Today the barrier we are considering is prayerlessness.

David Forsyth examines the characteristics of worldly churches in James 4:1-3. These characteristics include being quarrelsome, which hinders evangelism, and being carnal, driven by frustrated desires for recognition. Forsyth also identifies prayerlessness as a key trait, either failing to seek God's wisdom or praying with wrong motives. He emphasizes the importance of peace-loving attitudes and sincere prayers for purity among church leaders, warning against self-focused ambition and encouraging believers to guard against worldliness in their congregations. ★ Support this podcast ★

In this episode, Mark Clifton and Mark Hallock discuss an article from Chuck Lawless on prayerlessness among pastors and church leaders. Leaders are “fixers” by nature. We never learned how to pray. Prayer has become more about ritual than about relationship. Prayerlessness can be hidden. We don't really believe prayer works. We have never been broken under God's hand. Leaders read the Word in a one-sided way. Some leaders have simply lost hope. We miss the gospel focus on the prayer life of Jesus. We have no role models. We don't have God-sized goals. For often he falls into the fire, and often into the water. 16 And I brought him to your disciples, and they could not heal him.” 17 And Jesus answered, “O faithless and twisted generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to me.” 18 And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him, and the boy was healed instantly. 19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” 20 He said to them, “Because of your little faith. Sermons – Connections Church

Welcome to Connections Church Online! Pastor Rob Byker has a message from Acts 12:1-19, “Surprised by Prayer”. Even though the church of Jerusalem prays for God to deliver Peter out of prison, they are shocked when God does it and Peter stands before them free! This shows us that even when we pray, there is often some levels of unbelief in us when we pray. Some Christians notice this and then pray more, praying for better faith. Other Christians notice this and stop praying altogether. We need to avoid that response at all costs. Prayerlessness is a serious sin and our Lord Jesus charges us to “always pray and not give up.” In this message, we will address some barriers to prayer as well as look at some truths that help us to return to prayer again. In Mark 9: 14-29, Pastor Ben Nistor preaches on the stark difference between the disciples and the man seeking help when it comes to belief in the sovereign authority of Christ. It is not the man seeking help that lacks faith, but the disciples. Belief in Christ is the vehicle for unleashing the infinite power of God for His purposes in the world. Prayerlessness is a sign of unbelief, which prevents the unleashing of God's infinite power for His purposes. ________________________________________ Links to Sermon Notes & Answers: ➤Sermon Notes (Blank): https://30fec278-856b-40f1-92a2-65e62d11d067.usrfiles.com/ugd/30fec2_8efae1b3f794486da4c00b5bc786acd2.pdf ➤Sermon Notes (Answers): https://30fec278-856b-40f1-92a2-65e62d11d067.usrfiles.com/ugd/30fec2_1406acf6de1b4acd9546b70cdd59e76f.pdf ________________________________________ In this video: 4:10 Reading of Mark 9: 14-29 7:14 Review 11:54 The Point of Mark 9: 14-29 14:00 Some Problems in Mark 9: 14-29 19:41 Some Principles from Mark 9: 14-29 ________________________________________ Subscribe to this channel to catch weekly expositional sermons from the Bible. ________________________________________ Explore more sermons and information: https://www.sheridanhills.org/watch-new ________________________________________ Follow us: ➤Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sheridanhills/ ➤Twitter: https://twitter.com/sheridanhills01 ➤Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sheridanhills/

Let's talk about prayerlessness. It is so easy to find yourself in the Wilderness refusing to talk to God or expecting God to answer your prayers. Prayerlessness is often the result of a deeply disappointed soul that simply stops asking and stops hoping for anything more than what will be. But not only is that a position of defeat, it is also a surrendering of our identity and authority. Prayer is transformative and reminds us of who we are and Who is on our side. We desperately need to be reminded of that in dry places. So let us pray big, bold, brave prayers to a God Who still hears and sees us in a wilderness place. Let us become mature sons and daughters who refuse to be quelled into quiet. Let us travel confidently through what the enemy means to harm us with and instead become armed with strength, Truth, and Grace.Connect with the Walking Well PodcastInstagram- @WalkingWellPodcastFacebook- Walking Well Podcast with Gilon MartsWebsite- https://www.gilonmarts.com/podcastWatch on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@walkingwellpodcastwithgilo784

The only way to fail at prayer is to not pray! This weekend Pastor Steve Andres continued our JONAH AND THE WHALE series with a message about prayer.Jonah 2:1-2Then Jonah prayed to his God from the belly of the fish. He prayed:“In trouble, deep trouble, I prayed to God.  He answered me.From the belly of the grave I cried, ‘Help!'  You heard my cry.”The Bible says that Jonah was swallowed by the fish, THEN he prayed. Why do we delay so long before we call to God?1) PRAY NOW, because now is the best time to pray.Prayerlessness is pride. Thankfully, God is not too proud to answer us, even when we have looked to everyone and everything else before asking Him.2) PRAY NOW, even if you don't know how to pray. There are no spiritual black-belts, no professionals at prayer. Even when we think we are doing well, we could never know what we need to know to pray correctly.Romans 8:26We do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us.God is actively helping you every time you go to him in prayer, translating your simple petitions into something powerful.3) PRAY NOW, because the only way to fail at prayer is to not pray. Our problem is not going to be asking or expecting too much from God. Our problem is going to be asking for and expecting too little.“Heaven is full of answers to prayers for which no one ever bothered to ask.” Billy GrahamWhat are praying for today?
