The Power of The Tongue - Pastor Josh Pate by Eastgate Church
Malcolm continues our series in Colossians by preaching from Colossians Chapter 4. In this passage Paul gives pointers to the Colossians about how prayer and our tongue (your speech and language) are powerful parts of our lives that can be a real outward reflection of our heart posture. Our 'Colossians: Christ in You' series will be going through Paul's letter to the church in Colossae, a letter sent whilst he was in prison. Paul wrote this letter to encourage them and also address the issues that Epaphras, their leader, had raised and to challenge them to a greater devotion to Jesus. Throughout this series we will learn about the difference that Christ makes living in you, the hope of glory (1:27). الموت والحياة في يد اللسان - الجزء الاول
The Bible is full of examples about the effects of the spoken word. The tongue is a powerful member of the body and what comes out of your mouth has bigger impacts than we may realize. These impacts occur in the physical and spiritual realms. If we let God guard our mouths, we will be able to speak life and victory over our circumstances.

“Life and death are in the power of the tongue.” That ancient truth isn't just spiritual—it's scientific. Your words create your world. In this video, Vince Ferguson, Certified Wellness Coach and host of Six Weeks to Fitness, reveals how the power of words can shape your mindset, your health, and your destiny. We'll explore how positive self-talk, faith-based affirmations, and speaking life can transform your energy, renew your mind, and strengthen your body. The Bible teaches that the tongue has the power to give life or destroy it, and modern science agrees—your thoughts and words influence your biology, emotions, and motivation. If you've ever struggled with self-doubt, negative thinking, or the feeling that your best days are behind you, this message will remind you that your future starts with your mouth. Learn how to align your thoughts and speech with faith, love, and purpose, so you can walk in healing, confidence, and abundance. Your words can heal. Your words can build. Words shape worlds. In this message, Dominic Renaldo begins with the story of Yellowstone National Park, showing how the removal—and later return—of wolves transformed the entire ecosystem. The illustration sets the stage for a spiritual truth: just as nature is interconnected, so are our words and their impact. Drawing from 1 Chronicles, Psalms, and Proverbs 18:21, Dominic reminds listeners that words hold power—not to create material things, but to bring encouragement or harm, life or death. Through personal stories and a creative experiment, he reveals how what we speak can strengthen others or tear them down. The message concludes with a call to speak life, use words that reflect Christ's love, and become restorers in the ecosystems of our relationships.

Welcome to the School of Ministry Podcast where we examine James 3:5–12, as he uses vivid imagery of fire to show how the tongue—though small—can defile the whole person, spread destruction through gossip and slander, and be influenced by the old nature and the devil. In this remastered episode, we trace Biblical parallels and historical examples to highlight the danger and reach of sinful speech. Yet the episode also points to hope: the child of God, transformed by the new birth and led by the Holy Spirit, is called to a sanctified tongue that praises God and blesses others, with an invitation to accept Christ to avoid the eternal consequences of a real hell.

In James 3, James writes to the power that the tongue possesses by highlighting that it is disporportionate in strength to its size, that we are helpless to tame it on our own, and that it reveals our heart. Pastor Zach encourages in this sermon that we would choose to change and let Jesus work on our life because thats when we can truly live set apart in this area.
This week, Pastor Tom unpacks the power of our words from James 3 and Proverbs 18: “Life and death are in the power of the tongue.” Like the mighty Bismarck battleship taken down by a single torpedo, small things can have enormous impact. Our words can wound or heal, tear down or build up. What's behind them? The heart. And only Christ can transform it. Join us as we explore how God reshapes hearts—and tongues—for His glory.
The Bible says that our tongues can be used to bless or to curse. When we're not careful, our tongues can spark a wildfire of destruction. When we are intentional, however, we can spark wildfires of love and appreciation. Today Danny Hochstatter teaches us the power we all have to bless or curse with our speech.Visit www.FamilyLife.cc to learn more.

From time to time, we've all let a careless comment slip. But today, pastor Ray Bentley has a warning for those who continually let their words get out of control. If you have a tongue that is uncontrolled, you can literally start a forest fire in a human sense. You can devour multitudes of lives and literally it can be as hot as the fires of hell itself.
Proverb says, pleasant words are like a honeycomb. Sweetness to the soul, health to the bones. Pastor Ray Bentley comments, the power of speech is one of the greatest gifts that God has given to human beings. If you will believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, and then if you will say with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, then thou shalt be saved.
Beth continues this powerful series by exploring the connection between the heart and the tongue. Drawing from Colossians, Psalms, and Luke, she reminds us that “the mouth speaks what the heart is full of” and nothing shuts down relationships or opportunity faster than a foolish mouth.
