Another great sitcom interview from the Distinct Nostalgia team. This time with John Henshaw who played Ken in the brilliant Early Doors - a gem of a comedy penned by Craig Cash and Phil Mealey. John recalls how it all started and how he got the part as well as what he thinks was the secret behind its success. Only running for 2 series, did Early Doors end too soon? And what of all those fabulous character creations. Lots of great memories ....If you'd like to suggest an interview (or reunion) with a past star/stars of any soap, comedy, drama. children's series, quiz show or film, then please drop us a line via the contact us page on the Distinct Nostalgia website at www.distinctnostalgia.com or email info@madeinmanchester.tvNOTE: The Distinct Nostalgia theme is owned by MIM Productions and composed by Rebecca Applin and Chris Warner.Distinct Nostalgia is a Made in Manchester ProductionBabylon 5 For the First Time - Not a Star Trek PodcastTwo veteran Star Trek podcasters watch Babylon 5 for the first time. Murray Head was suddenly thrust into the limelight in 1971 as he played the love interest for Peter Finch and Glenda Jackson's characters in the film Sunday Bloody Sunday. He had the role of a young bisexual man involved in an open love triangle with a gay Jewish doctor and a middle aged divorcee. The film saw a kiss between two men, only a few years after male homosexuality had been decriminalized in England and Wales. The movie was ground breaking and is still one of the few that has ever really tacked bisexuality. But did it do bisexual people justice? Could it have gone further? Murray turns the clock back more than 50 years to remember exactly how it all happened. He also touches on his musical career, musicals - and his other films including working with Hayley Mills and the late Hywell Bennett. If you'd like to suggest an interview (or reunion) with a past star/stars of any soap, comedy, drama. children's series, quiz show or film, then please drop us a line via the contact us page on the Distinct Nostalgia website at www.distinctnostalgia.com or email info@madeinmanchester.tvDistinct Nostalgia is a Made in Manchester Production.NOTE: The Distinct Nostalgia theme is owned by MIM Productions and composed by Rebecca Applin and Chris Warner. We're talking to an absolute legend of British TV. Many will remember him from Play School, others from Heads and Tails or even just his voice. His dulcet and distinctive tones have turned up everywhere - from Super Ted to Watership Down. In the 70s he was a presenter of the YTV science show Don't Ask Me alongside Magnus Pike and David Bellamy. He appeared in dozens of sitcoms and in more recent years even landed a year in Coronation Street. And he's still working....Enjoy nearly an hour in the company of Derek Griffiths. We’re usually celebrating the iconic shows of the past with the people who were there but very, very occasionally DistinctNostalgia will focus in on something contemporary we feel deserves some real attention and this is one of those rare occasions. TWO DOORS DOWN is the BBC’s hidden comedy gem. Here DistinctNostalgia celebrates a ‘current’ quality tv show starring among others, Alex Norton and Elaine C Smith. The series is written by Simon Carlyle and Gregor Sharp and centres around neighbours living in a suburban street on the outskirts of Glasgow. It’s a hilarious sitcom and DistinctNostalgia highly recommends all four series and the 5th which is being filmed this year. Here Ashley chats to Jonathan Watson who has played Colin since the start... In this deliciously humorous work from the creative mind of Colin Burke, listeners will delight not only in recognising their own pets, but also themselves and their fellow dog walkers.
