Namaste. Salaam. Shalom. Sat Sri Akal. Greetings to all of you from Pakistan. And what follows is a stream of images, a series of images captured by some of Pakistan's most dynamic and young photographers, that aims to give you an alternative glimpse, a look inside the hearts and minds of some ordinary Pakistani citizens. Here are some of the stories they wanted us to share with you. My name is Abdul Khan. I come from Peshawar. I hope that you will be able to see not just my Taliban-like beard, but also the richness and color of my perceptions, aspirations and dreams, as rich and colorful as the satchels that I sell. My name is Meher and this is my friend Irim. I hope to become a vet when I grow up so that I can take care of stray cats and dogs who wander around the streets of the village that I live near Gilgit, northern Pakistan. My name is Kailash. And I like to enrich lives through technicolored glass. Madame, would you like some of those orange bangles with the pink polka dots? My name is Zamin. And I'm an IDP, an internally displaced person, from Swat. Do you see me on the other side of this fence? Do I matter, or really exist for you? My name is Iman. I am a fashion model, an up-and-coming model from Lahore. Do you see me simply smothered in cloth? Or can you move beyond my veil and see me for who I truly am inside? My name is Ahmed. I am an Afghan refugee from the Khyber agency. I have come from a place of intense darkness. And that is why I want to illuminate the world. My name is Papusay. My heart and drum beat as one. If religion is the opium of the masses, then for me, music is my one and only ganja. A rising tide lifts all boats. And the rising tide of India's spectacular economic growth has lifted over 400 million Indians into a buoyant middle class. But there are still over 650 million Indians, Pakistanis, Sri Lankans, Bangladeshis, Nepalese, who remain washed up on the shores of poverty. Therefore as India and Pakistan, as you and I, it behooves us to transcend our differences, to celebrate our diversity, to leverage our common humanity. Our collective vision at Naya Jeevan, which for many of you, as you all recognize, means "new life" in Urdu and Hindi, is to rejuvenate the lives of millions of low-income families by providing them with affordable access to catastrophic health care. Indeed it is the emerging world's first HMO for the urban working poor. (HMO)。Why should we do this as Indians and Pakistanis? We are but two threads cut from the same cloth. And if our fates are intertwined, then we believe that it is good karma, it is good fortune. And for many of us, our fortunes do indeed lie at the bottom of the pyramid. Thank you. Fantastic. Just stay up here. That was fantastic. I found that really moving. You know, we fought hard to get at least a small Pakistani contingent to come. It felt like it was really important. They went through a lot to get here. Would the Pakistanis please just stand up please? I met Philly musician / singer / songwriter Deirdre French in 2019, less than a year before Covid, when she walked into the open mic I was hosting at the Khyber in Philadelphia, and basically silenced a loud, chatty room with a pin-drop performance showcasing her impressive vocal and songwriting chops. In the intervening years, she's done a lot of personal and artistic exploration and now she's just released her debut full-length album "Sensitive Girl," an eclectic blend of her many artistic shades, from 90's rock bombast, to Costello-esque lyrical snark, to jazz-inflected introspection.Deirdre's music can make you think, it can make you laugh, and, as stated in her bio, it can leave you sorta scratching your head.. but in a way that only makes you curious to find out more. I was thrilled to get the chance to sit down with her at the iconic Penrose Restaurant in south Philly, where I quickly found myself in the midst of a great conversation covering topics ranging from our favorite bass players to making it through your 20's, to showing up for your friends. This was honestly one of my very favorite TatD conversations and I hope you'll stream Deirdre's album and give a follow on IG @sensitivegrrl .Enjoy!~ JKF ❤️

Sir Sidney Ruff-Diamond is Queen Victoria's Governor in the Indian province of Kalabar near the Khyber Pass. The province is defended by the feared 3rd Foot and Mouth Regiment, who are said to not wear anything under their kilts. When a soldier, the inept Private Widdle, is found wearing underpants after an encounter with the warlord Bungdit Din, chief of the warlike Burpa tribe, the Khasi of Kalabar plans to use this information to incite a rebellion in Kalabar. He aims to dispel the "tough" image of the Devils in Skirts by revealing that, contrary to popular belief, they actually wear underpants underneath their kilts. A diplomatic operation ensues on the part of the British, who fail to publicly prove that the incident was an aberration. The Governor's wife, in the hope of luring the Khasi into bed with her, takes a photograph of an inspection in which many of the soldiers present are found wearing underpants, and takes it to him. With this hard evidence in hand, the Khasi would be able to muster a ferocious Afghan invasion force, storm the Khyber Pass and capture India from the British; but Lady Ruff-Diamond insists that he sleep with her before she parts with the photograph. He delays on account of her unattractiveness, eventually taking her away with him to Bungdit Din's palace. Meanwhile, the Khasi's daughter, Princess Jelhi, reveals to the British Captain Keene, with whom she has fallen in love, that the Governor's wife has eloped, and a team is dispatched to ensure the return of both her and the photograph. Disguised as Afghan generals, the interlopers are brought into the palace and, at the Khasi's suggestion, are introduced to Bungdit Din's sultry concubines. Whilst enjoying the women in the harem, they are unmasked amid a farcical orgy, imprisoned, and scheduled to be executed at sunset alongside the Governor's wife. Princess Jelhi aids their escape by disguising them as dancing girls, but during the entertaining of the Afghan generals, the Khasi, contemptuous of an annoying fakir's performance, demands that he see the dancing girls instead. After their disguises are seen through, the British and the Princess flee, but Lady Ruff-Diamond drops the photograph on leaving the palace through the gardens. The group returns to the Khyber Pass to find its guards massacred and their weapons comically mutilated, in a rare (albeit tainted) moment of poignancy. All attempts to hold off the advancing Afghan invaders fail miserably, and a hasty retreat is beaten to the Residency. The Governor, meanwhile, has been entertaining, in numerical order, the Khasi's fifty-one wives, each one of them wishing to "right the wrong" that his own wife and the Khasi himself have supposedly committed against him. After a browbeating from his wife, Sir Sidney calls a crisis meeting regarding the invasion, in which he resolves to "do nothing". A black tie dinner is arranged for that evening. Dinner takes place during a prolonged penultimate scene, with contrapuntal snippets of the Khasi's army demolishing the Residency's exterior, and the officers and ladies ignoring the devastation as they dine amongst themselves. Shells shaking the building and plaster falling into the soup do not interrupt dinner, even when the fakir's severed - but still talking - head is served, courtesy of the Khasi. Only Brother Belcher fails to display a stiff upper lip, and breaks his calm by panicking. Finally, at Captain Keene's suggestion, the gentlemen walk outside to be greeted by a bloody battle being waged in the courtyard. Still dressed in black tie, Sir Sidney orders the Regiment to form a line and lift their kilts, this time exposing their (implied) lack of underwear. The invading Afghan army is terrified, and retreats at once. The gentlemen walk back inside to resume dinner, whilst Brother Belcher notices the Union flag flown by the governor bearing the slogan I'm Backing Britain and calls them "raving mad".

Barbara Windsor, Hattie Jacques and Joan Sims were some of the iconic women who starred in the Carry On films from the late 1950s onwards. From Carry on Camping to Carry on Up the Khyber, the humour relied largely on innuendo, double entendre and slapstick comedy, with the women viewed as objects for male desire. But were they really sexist? Emma Barnett speaks to Gemma Ross, co-author of The Carry On Girls, who argues it was the women who came out on top and were more sexually confident than the men, as well as actor Anita Harris who was in Carry On Doctor. The experiences of staff in the NHS are the subject of a report out today which has found that female NHS workers face an ‘embedded culture of misogyny.' The campaign group Surviving in Scrubs has gathered testimony of 150 staff members through their website that launched last year and finds "systemic and institutional sexual violence" with experiences ranging from sexism to rape in the workplace. Emma is joined by Dr Chelcie Jewitt, a specialist trainee in emergency medicine at Merseyside hospitals and co-founder of Surviving in Scrubs, and Professor Dame Jane Dacre, former President of the Royal College of Physicians. The podcast series Intrigue - Million Dollar Lover looks at love in later life and the question of inheritance when someone with adult children finds a new partner. Sue Mitchell follows the unlikely love story of Carolyn, who is 80 and has properties worth a few million dollars, and Dave, 57, a former drug addict who is homeless and has spent a decade in jail. Sue joins Emma ahead of the series release on BBC Radio 4 and BBC Sounds. Coaching for sonographers, the professionals carrying out the scans, on how to deliver unexpected and potentially devastating pregnancy news has been successfully tested in new research from the University of Leeds. We hear from the lead researcher, Dr Judith Johnson, and also from Karen, who says she was left with PTSD after receiving unexpected news about the health of her baby during a scan.

S11E2: Truth Behind the Betrayal of Prophet's companions after pledging allegiance at Ghadeer

The Light of Reflection

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 12, 2022 25:08

2nd Question: How can the companions of the Prophet, who had fought with the Prophet, turn back on the allegiance that they made at Ghadeer? The simple answer is that this wasn't the first time that they had turned back on their allegiance to the Prophet. Here are three examples: 1- Breaking the Beyah al-Ridhwan (Allegiance before the Treaty of Hudebiya): When the Prophet went to Makkah for Umrah with 3-5K companions, Quresh didn't allow him to perform Umrah. Prophet asked all Muslims to renew their Beyah/allegiance to him under a tree outside Makkah. All of them agreed to accept Prophet's decision whether to fight or agree to a truce. This resulted in the Treaty of Hudebiyah. However, many turned against the Prophet in 2 days including Umer. The Prophet ordered the companions to break their Ahram and offer sacrifice. They refused to do so without going to Makkah. The Prophet was very upset and went to his tent where Hazrat Umm-e-Salma was accompanying him. She asked about what is making the Prophet sad. Upon learning, she recommended that the Prophet should break his Ahram and offer sacrifice. Once he, Imam Ali and a few companions did that, other followed. 2- Breaking the covenant at the Battle of Khyber On Day 1, Abu Bakr was given the flag and went to fight with the army but retreated. On Day 2, Umer was sent but retreated. This continued for 39 days. Then on the 40th day, the Prophet gave the flag to Imam Ali AS, who didn't retreat. Rather defeated the army of Khyber. In Surah Ahzab, Allah mentions that the Muslims (companions of the Prophet) have their allegiance that they will not return without a fight but kept running back for 39 days. Thus breaking their promise to the Prophet. 3- Rebellion against Usama The top companions declined to go fight under the generalship of Usama bin Zayd when the Prophet asked all the senior companions to leave Madinah with the army of Usama except for Imam Ali AS. They argued that Usama was young. The Prophet condemned them and said that you did the same against his father Zaid bin Hairitha when he was made the leader in the battle of Mutah The people did the above things and broke the covenant of the Prophet because of their nature. There are two reasons why they ignored the allegiance of Ghadeer: 1- The thought of the Prophet as a regular human like themselves who only became a Prophet when he received the revelation. But Allah says in the Quran that Prophet is a Prophet all the time 2- It was part of their nature to be attracted towards power, authority, and Pride. They wanted to get absolute power, pride, and authority by removing Imam Ali AS from Khilafat. They showed their inclination towards the above even before Islam. For example, when Quresh rebuilt Kaaba and the question was raised about installing Hijr Aswad, they all disagreed and were about to fight/kill each other. But then the Prophet resolved the issue by putting Hijr Aswad on a piece of cloth that all leaders held so that it was brought close to the Kaabah and then he himself installed Hijr Aswad.

The Truth About Muhammad by Robert Spencer. https://youtu.be/oiVFGmCKEAA 169,352 views Premiered Feb 2, 2022 In his book, 'The Truth About Muhammad: Founder of the World's Most Intolerant Religion', Spencer discusses the earliest Islamic sources about the life of Muhammad the prophet of Islam, and shows how the violence, intolerance, and oppression that has marked the Islamic culture are not violations of Islamic principles, but are rooted in the teachings and example of Islam's founding figure. ABOUT THE SPEAKER ROBERT SPENCER is the director of Jihad Watch, a program of the David Horowitz Freedom Center, and the author of ten books, including the New York Times bestsellers The Truth About Muhammad and The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades). Spencer is a weekly columnist for Human Events and FrontPage Magazine, and has led seminars on Islam and jihad for the United States Central Command, United States Army Command and General Staff College, the U.S. Army's Asymmetric Warfare Group, the FBI, the Joint Terrorism Task Force, and the U.S. intelligence community. TOPICS COVERED 0:00 5:12 The earliest available Islamic resources 7:00 Muhammad's strange reactions to Angelic encounters. 11:01 When Muslims were a small band, they preached peace and tolerance, when they grew in number, 21:15 Violence in Islam 16:18 Right age for marriage for girls? 17:52 Sexual enslavement of non-muslim women/ Love Jihad, Raid of Khyber 21:44 Beheading is specified in the Quran, Chapter 47, verse 4., Muhammad practiced beheading. 22:56 Muhammad taught to kill who ever left Islam e.g. fatwas against Waseem Rizvi 27:49 Zainab bibi- when Muhammad married his own daughter-in-law 36:30 The deception of calling it a peaceful religion 46:57 Islam and communism 59:02 The deobandis 1:00:22 Conversion to Islam   About the book- The Truth About Muhammad: Founder of the World's Most Intolerant Religion by Robert Spencer  Muhammad: a frank look at his influential (and violent) life and teachings In The Truth about Muhammad, New York Times bestselling author and Islam expert Robert Spencer offers an honest and telling portrait of the founder of Islam-perhaps the first such portrait in half a century-unbounded by fear and political correctness, unflinching, and willing to face the hard facts about Muhammad's life that continue to affect our world today. From Muhammad's first "revelation" from Allah (which filled him with terror that he was demonpossessed) to his deathbed (from which he called down curses upon Jews and Christians), it's all here-told with extensive documentation from the sources that Muslims themselves consider most reliable about Muhammad. Spencer details Muhammad's development from a preacher of hellfire and damnation into a political and military leader who expanded his rule by force of arms, promising his warriors luridly physical delights in Paradise if they were killed in his cause. He explains how the Qur'an's teaching on warfare against unbelievers developed-with constant war to establish the hegemony of Islamic law as the last stage. Spencer also gives the truth about Muhammad's convenient "revelations" justifying his own licentiousness; his joy in the brutal murders of his enemies; and above all, his clear marching orders to his followers to convert non-Muslims to Islam-or force them to live as inferiors under Islamic rule. In The Truth about Muhammad, you'll learn - The truth about Muhammad's multiple marriages (including one to a nine-year-old) - How Muhammad set legal standards that make it virtually impossible to prove rape in Islamic countries - How Muhammad's example justifies jihad and terrorism - The real "Satanic verses" incident (not the Salman Rushdie version) that remains a scandal to Muslims - How Muhammad's faulty knowledge of Judaism and Christianity has influenced Islamic theology--and colored Muslim relations with Jews and Christians to this day. Recognizing the true nature of Islam, Spencer argues, is essential for judging the prospects for largescale Islamic reform, the effective prosecution of the War on Terror, the democracy project in Afghanistan and Iraq, and immigration and border control to protect the United States from terrorism. All of which makes it crucial for every citizen (and policymaker) who loves freedom to read and ponder The Truth about Muhammad

I read an interesting article while researching for proof on the Vedic India encompassed the entire world. I have posted quite a few articles on the Ancient Kingdoms of India with Time line, names,The Dynasties List and the existing archeological proof for the statement that Bharatvarsha extended throughout the world. Kanchi Periyavar mentions this fact in the Book Deivathin Kural in Tamil( Free download of the Book is available in this site),with astonishing evidence from the Vedic Texts. The Mayan civilization as well as the Egyptian Civilizations often intrigued me. Their method of worship of the Sun, the reverence for the Dead and some cultural practices are very close to Hinduism. Now on to this information in the article. The Vedas tell a number of valid facts about ancient America . They call Mexico and Central America Patala. In Sanskrit, Patala means ‘one of the seven regions under the earth and the abode of serpents' According to the myths, an eagle named Garuda transported thousands of ancient mariners, called snakes (Nagas, there in its beak. Although I feel they came here in ocean-going ships, the implication is clear that they could have flown here as well. The legends of the O'odhams of Arizona describe such a sky-born ship. They call it Nah-Big, a term definitely derived from the Sanskrit Nag-Bhaga or Snake God. One cannot help but become impressed when he reads the O'odham stories of the Nah-Big. It is clear that it was some kind of flying ship. The O'odhams even speak of it as being propelled by an energy generator having positive (male) and (female) female poles… In the Mayan-derived dialects along Mexico's northern east coast down to and including the Central America republics, Patal means ‘abandoned or deserted land; without people.' Naga-like derivatives also exist in Mexico . In Sanskrit, Nag-asta means Western Naga Land . The Mayan lowlands down to and including Costa Rica are called Nacaste. According to Hindu legends, a naga could turn into a human being. In Mexico, a nagual was a were-animal. Nagual derived from the Sanskrit Nag-Baal, meaning Snake Demon… The Hindu Naga Mayas also belonged to a powerful Dravidian group of Nagas called Asuras. Whether or not the Asuras were demi-gods or demons depended on one's point of view. The leader of these Naga Asuras was the Hindu (really a Bulgarian) god of precious metals, wealth, traders and even agriculturists (really a group) named Kubera or Khyber (Kheever). For Christians and Jews he was Heber. This Kubera, Khyber, or Heber was leader of a horde called Yakshas or Yakhas (Biblical Joktan?). They were reputed to be both superior mentally and materially. Their servants were called Guhyakhas (Yakha shit). Today, in Judaism, which evolved from the Kubera teachings, the term has changed to Goy, but the meaning has never changed. The Kubera hordes, composed of Yakshas or Yakhas and their Guyakha underclass captured most of India's undesirables, the unredeemably savage and cannibilistic Rakshasas, exiling them to Ceylon or Lanka. Later, they exiled them to Patala, supposedly in air ships. The Mayas had their own nation in Lanka, also named Maya, with a sub-group called Laks (Mexico's Lacandones). It is a strange anomaly that Rama, Lenka (Lanka), and Lacandon Mayan peoples exist in Meso-America, including the inhabitants of Yucatan (Yakhustan; Joktan?)… In India, many Hindus love to mention them as a superior race of people who came to them from Uttara Kuru ( Siberia and the North Pole). Yet, the Kurus (Ari) and Ramas were just the Indian people themselves who once inhabited the whole of the Eastern Hemisphere — Kurus the north, and Ramas, the Indian sub continent itself. In the mythologies of all the world, the Kurus (Turks) and the Hindus (Ramas) are the Holy Twins. Although both groups were partners (twins) in international trading, the Kurus (Turks) provided the shipping and the Ramas their services as warrior traders.morevat Ramanisblog --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/ramanispodcast/message

What is Axie? Axie is a movement disguised as a digital pet game. So the game itself centers and revolves around battling collecting these kinds of adorable monsters called axies, I think the secret sauce is that we carefully structure the economy, and basically using blockchain, which allows our players to earn crypto by playing. And so this kind of, you know, this because this been this phenomenon around the concept of play to earn, where people are feeding their families during the pandemic, and playing Axie infinity, I think that's, you know, kind of what, what's made us kind of what's helped us make a name for ourselves so far. And we've also seen Axies, you know, become a very highly coveted collector's item. And with some axes selling for hundreds or 1000s of dollars. So the idea behind Axie is that it's not just one game, it's going to be an entire universe of games. What we currently have out is a battle card battling game. It's kind of similar (to Pokemon). It's not actually similar to anything but yeah, you can kind of play different cards. Each Axie has six different body parts and those body parts actually correspond to different cards. And and yeah, so the battles are 3v3, you can battle against other players, which in real-time, there's a leaderboard with actually with you know, rewards, we've given out things like AAVE tokens, Khyber network tokens, real gold, in the form of gold-backed tokens from DIGITS, and also our governance token, which basically is kind of a slice or part of our universe. And yeah, so we also have we also have a land system under development, which will basically allow you to build a kingdom for these Axies. Axie Land Buying People have been buying and selling land for a while now. And kind of in anticipation, and to get ready for the launch of land. We actually did a seven-day demo in December, which I think, you know, people are really excited about. And so yeah, that's, that's another really important aspect to the game. There's also the kind of biological aspect to the game where we try and, you know, Axies are, they have their own genetic code, and you're able to actually breed Axies. That's part of actually what balances the economy is that we have this breeding system, but in order to actually breed in Axie, you need to use these potions (SLP or Simple Love Potions) and those potions can actually own be earned by playing the game, we don't actually sell them right like a convention or mainstream game studio might sell them themselves and try to monetize that way. And but we don't, we don't sell them. And if so if anyone wants them, they have to get them from uni swap, or now Binance. And this one, it was one of the things that are kind of fueled this idea of played around where basically, we don't step into certain markets, and we leave them totally up to the players. And I think when you give players autonomy, and the right to control, you know, one of the markets around the game and you know, you don't force them to kind of have to do black market deals or use trusted third-party sites. And we're, you know, we build the marketplace, ourselves, and when So basically, when you let them have that a lot of really interesting behaviors begin to emerge.

He had full faith in Almighty Allah and so he spoke fearlessly.Muslim emigrants returned with Jafar to Madinah when the Prophet (peace be upon him) conquered Khyber. They thanked King Najashi for his good protection and hospitality provided to them. When King Najashi expired the Prophet (peace be upon him) offered his funeral prayer in absentia, in Madinah. Emily Davidson, noted friend of the Khyber, joins us to talk about her group's efforts to save 1588 Barrington Street from indifferent city staff who wanted the historic arts incubator sold off as surplus. Then, writer and artist Kate Leth calls in from Califonia reminisce on her stange adventure from local illustrator to comic book superhero. Plus, HALIFAX buys itself a bold brand, the new library finally opens, NSCAD gets a fountain of money (but loses a micro-gallery) and something called the Ivany report is released. The Coast presents: 25 for 25. A year-by-year audio archive. Through the lens of the city's alt-weekly, editors Jacob Boon and Tara Thorne bring you the stories that shaped Halifax over the past quarter-century.
