On today's podcast I chatted to a really nice guy, Bob Grant, a clinically trained relationship expert and founder of Relationship Headquarters. For over 20 years Bob from Atlanta, Georgia, has been helping successful women to find lasting relationships with men through his very successful programmes. Bob chats about the unique challenges that these successful women have and how his programmes help them to overcome these challenges and fulfill their dreams. Men and women are very different, and a woman's “success” can cause a particular set of circumstances because of the roles we are normally programmed to have in our relationships. Bob chats about this, about how you treat your own heart and so much more. Are you stuck in unfulfilling relationships and wondering why love feels out of reach? In this episode of the True Love Knots Podcast, relationship expert Bob Grant talks about how hidden patterns and beliefs may be holding you back. Bob opens up about his own struggles with learning disabilities and how they led him to help others build lasting connections. He explains how self-criticism, especially among successful women, can create barriers to love and offers insights on shifting these mindsets. From dating apps to modern gender dynamics, Bob's advice empowers you to embrace vulnerability, challenge old narratives, and discover what you truly need in a partner. Ready for lasting love? Standout Quotes: “I don't know that it's about trying harder; it's about learning how to do it in a way that works for me.” “Patterns don't lie. I may not know how to interpret correctly, but a pattern's a clue to something I'm probably doing, not doing, or not being aware of.” “Pain has a wonderful thing: it keeps us from being satisfied with where we're at now. That can be loneliness, boredom, or actual pain.” “I think if I'm talking to a man, it's like a job interview. It's a great illustration because it shows that this is the best chance you have to make a first impression.” Key Takeaways: Identify your personal patterns and tendencies in relationships - what coping mechanisms or self-limiting beliefs might be sabotaging your efforts to find lasting love? Seek honest feedback from a trusted source to gain clarity. Challenge yourself to step out of your comfort zone and do something differently. Small, incremental changes can disrupt unhealthy patterns and open the door to new possibilities. Approach online dating profiles and interactions with the same care and intention as a job interview - your first impression matters, so invest the time to present your authentic self. Recognize that the person you meet in person may be quite different from their online persona. Keep an open mind and focus on building an emotional connection, not just physical attraction. If you're not ready for professional coaching, start by surrounding yourself with a supportive community that can provide honest, constructive feedback to help you grow. Avoid relying solely on friends and family who may inadvertently enable your current patterns. Gather In - stories of conversion to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
(Had some sound issues with the first version of this that I uploaded. Hopefully this one is better.) Bob Grant has an amazing story to tell. He's been a member of more churches than most people have had hot dinners. Anglican, pentecostal, SDA and JW almost, and even his Dad's own church! He was introduced to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, by an old hunting friend, which was appropriate as Bob had been hunting around for the true Church of Jesus Christ for years. Bob's wife Wendy joins in the conversation briefly towards the end, and will soon be interviewed to tell her story of conversion from Catholicism to also become a Latter-day Saint.

With Trump's Indictment, the GOP is being described as the Cult of Trump, and the other GOP candidates are scrambling to figure out how to position themselves. Come listen to a fascinating talk with the award-winning documentarian Jen Senko on her film, The Brainwashing of My Dad, and the book based on it. Jen Senko's experience with her father, Frank, hits close to home for many Americans today. Frank was a happy-go-lucky progressive Democrat when he came across a talk radio show hosted by Bob Grant. He started being more critical of Democrats and was somewhat combative about it. When he fully retired, he discovered Rush Limbaugh and listened to him for three hours daily. Then he started watching Fox News. At that point, his personality changed. He was always angry and couldn't have discussions with his family anymore without them turning to politics. She delves into the experts who use social psychology to recruit and indoctrinate people. The good news is her father comes back to himself—a fascinating interview. Of course, as the author of the Cult of Trump, I weigh in. Learn more about Steven Hassan and Freedom of Mind Resource Center. Visit freedomofmind.com Learn more about your ad choices. Today's program is going to feel a little different than other episodes. The Regional Transformation Initiative is a gathering of Christian leaders in the greater Rochester region who have a common vision to use biblical principles to equip and activate people to bring transformation and reformation to their spheres of influence. Recently, the Regional Transformation Initiative invited Jason to sit down with five of its members and discuss topics pertinent to the Body of Christ, particularly at election season. Those leaders are Pastor David Branch of Faith Chapel (Churchville, NY), Bob Grant a local businessman and entrepreneur, Pastor Phil Harlow of Bridge Builders Ministries (Rochester, NY), Pastor Al Hauck of Friend of God Ministries and Shepherd's Heart Christian Fellowship (Rochester, NY) and Pastor Emelio Sebastian of Jubilee Christian Church (Brockport, NY). Today, we'll be sharing those discussions. Topics discussed, include: Should the Christian be involved with the politics of this world? What should the Church's response be to the cultural chaos around us? How should the Christian view political parties? What is the Christian to do when the candidates on the ballot don't reflect their values? In a pivotal moment, where societal foundations seem to be crumbling, what can the Christian do? Each of these discussions are also available via video on RTI's YouTube channel. Let's get started. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/albanyupdate/support

I hit the road to Dayton to visit with Wright State AD Bob Grant. We hit several topics, beginning with what keeps him excited about WSU after all these years leading his alma mater. The conversation turns to how WSU continues to hit above its weight in a busy D1 state of Ohio. As a self-described "least connected AD," I asked Grant if the industry noise causes him to lose focus of the day-to-day duties of the job. And at the same time, I ask how do leaders at Non-FB D1 schools like WSU help make sure their voice is heard with the Transformation Committee and other changes (it really can't). Grant shares his thoughts on the university hiring an outside firm to do an athletic department assessment on whether to stay at D1 or reclassify to D2 or D3. He then discusses in detail the decision to drop and add sports and whether they were concerned about dropping below the D1 minimum sport threshold without yet receiving a waiver. And, no, WSU hasn't been considering adding Football. I ask what problem needs solved in the next 5-10 year if the industry doesn't get ahead of it now. Grant ends the conversation with advice for administrators and how to control their stress levels with the job.

Brian Rosenwald joins Tim to talk about the rise of Rush Limbaugh and conservative talk radio. Brian is the co-editor of a daily Washington Post history blog called “Made by History.” He's a Scholar in Residence at the University of Pennsylvania. He's also the author of a new book called: “Talk Radio's America: how an industry took over a political party that took over the United States.” This Encore Episode was first released February 10, 2020. https://traffic.libsyn.com/secure/shapingopinion/Encore_-_Rush_Limbaugh.mp3 Talk radio didn't begin in the late 1980s. The earliest radio talk shows that had an impact were hosted by broadcasters named Joe Pyne, Bob Grant and Larry King. But the talk radio we know today, the one that has created a sea change in the nation's political dialogue, can trace its roots back to the 1980s when a number of factors came to a head at about the same time. The 1980s marked a resurgence of the Republican Party in Washington with the wave of national support that swept Ronald Reagan into the White House. During those same years, the AM radio format started to decline, losing music listeners to the clean and clear signals of FM stations. To carve out a niche and compete with FM, AM radio discovered that talk radio didn't require the same sound quality to attract an audience. Increasingly, AM radio programmed talk and news content on their schedules. In 1987, the FCC's Fairness Doctrine was repealed. The Fairness Doctrine had put restrictive guidelines on how radio stations could air political speech. With the repeal of the Fairness Doctrine, radio stations were free to air news and talk programming that catered to specific audiences and specific points of view, regardless of political leanings. During this same period came the advent of less expensive satellite technology and cell phones. All of this opened the door to innovators who would figure out how to make political speech entertaining enough to attract an audience, and more importantly, to attract advertising revenue to those failing AM radio stations. One innovator, Rush Lumbaugh, in particular would lead the way. In the end, both the media and the political landscapes would be transformed. Robert Ciro Gigante, known as Bob Grant (March 14, 1929 – December 31, 2013), was an American radio host. A veteran of broadcasting in New York City, Grant is considered a pioneer of the conservative talk radio format and was one of the early adopters of the "combat talk" format.[1][2][3] Grant's career spanned from the 1950s until shortly before his death at age 84 on December 31, 2013.[4][5] Grant was widely termed a political conservative, and personally considered himself to be a conservative with some libertarian leanings: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Grant_(radio_host) PICTURE BY: By Source, Fair use, https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?curid=41538281 IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A COMMITTED MONTHLY DONATION FOR FUTURE EPISODES YOU CAN DONATE HERE: https://anchor.fm/thequeensnewyorker/suppor TUNE IN TO THE NEW 2 HOUR PODCAST CALLED "THE DECANIO DISCUSSION": https://www.mixcloud.com/jason-decanio/ --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thequeensnewyorker/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/thequeensnewyorker/support
11/29/20 BOB GRANT WAIT AND WATCH by The Abbey
In this Just Go Play podcast episode, Daryl Devonish speaks with Bob Grant, coach from North Toronto Hockey Association, on: Success is Judged by the Smile on the Kids Face After a Game.Bob grew up playing church hockey in Toronto and continue to enjoy the game of hockey in the original North York Hockey League, including the Marlies first team - the Butterbee's. A shoulder injury caused him to switch from a more competitive league into a recreational league and, years later, he began coaching his sons' teams. Bob shares the difference his experience was playing hockey compared to what it is today with a big focus on the involvement that parents now have in driving their kids to play.Bob shares insight that he's gained from seeing how other coaches work with their athletes, parents, and coaches to build a quality sport experience including:Coaches: Roll the lines. All kids should have the opportunity to play, to learn, and to enjoy the game. Parents: Let them play at the level where they can touch the puck. Don't push them to play at a level just because you want them to be at that level. They should be confident playing and enjoy the game not frightened to go on the ice.Athletes: Remember that people make mistakes. If nobody makes a mistake then the game would be tied at 0-0. Use each 'mistake' as a learning opportunity and decide what you would want to do differently next time..Everyone: Have fun! Playing sports is about enjoying the experience and developing lifelong skills. It's about getting more out of the game than just winning.Daryl and Bob discuss how coaches and parents can work together to make the experience better for the kids because, at the end of the day, we want them to walk out with a smile on their face.Be inspired by the lessons Bob shares with coaches and parents to ensure the kids enjoy the game and will participate for life. If you are a parent or coach who wants to learn more about courses or resources to help you build a quality environment for your child and athletes, reach out to us at www.justgoplay.ca.Follow Just Go Play on Instagram @qualitycoaching to receive coaching insights and information. Just Go Play is the resource for parents, teachers, coaches, and athletes to understand how sports will help build skills for life. Brian Rosenwald joins Tim to talk about the rise of Rush Limbaugh and conservative talk radio. Brian is the co-editor of a daily Washington Post history blog called “Made by History.” He’s a Scholar in Residence at the University of Pennsylvania. He’s also the author of a new book called: “Talk Radio’s America: how an industry took over a political party that took over the United States.” https://traffic.libsyn.com/shapingopinion/Rise_of_Rush_Limbaugh_and_Talk_Radio_auphonic.mp3 Talk radio didn’t begin in the late 1980s. The earliest radio talk shows that had an impact were hosted by broadcasters named Joe Pyne, Bob Grant and Larry King. But the talk radio we know today, the one that has created a sea change in the nation’s political dialogue, can trace its roots back to the 1980s when a number of factors came to a head at about the same time. The 1980s marked a resurgence of the Republican Party in Washington with the wave of national support that swept Ronald Reagan into the White House. During those same years, the AM radio format started to decline, losing music listeners to the clean and clear signals of FM stations. To carve out a niche and compete with FM, AM radio discovered that talk radio didn’t require the same sound quality to attract an audience. Increasingly, AM radio programmed talk and news content on their schedules. In 1987, the FCC’s Fairness Doctrine was repealed. For nearly 50 years, the voice that echoed through the rafters at Wright State men’s basketball games has been that of the same person, Gordie Wise. On Dec. 5, Wise was honored for his 49 years of service before the Wright State men’s basketball game against Miami University. Wise received a standing ovation from the crowd and was presented with a silver microphone by Bob Grant, the director of athletics. “If we had a Mt. Rushmore for athletics Gordie Wise would be on it,” said Grant. Wise has been heavily involved with Wright State and the creation of athletics department. He served on the ad hoc committee to determine the feasibility of establishing an athletic program, drafted the first constitution for the Wright State Athletic Council and chaired the first Athletic Council. He also served for 19 years as faculty representative to the NCAA. Wright State basketball fans will always remember the long-time faculty member’s phrase “Raider roundball” before the start of every game. “I created that, I’m totally blunt in saying that’s mine, baby,” Wise said. “It has been a blast for all of the half-century.”
It began as a crazy idea. DJs would get bored with music and start talking to the audience. They would take calls, tell stories, and even talk a little politics, sports, and pop culture. Early on, it produced some enduring national personalities like Jean Shepherd, and Brad Crandall, Long John Nebel, and Larry King, and Barry Gray, and Joe Franklin. It was known first as Spoken Word Radio. Later, it would give way to an even more colorful and cantankerous cast of characters. People like Joe Pyne, Alan Berg and Morton Downey Jr.. Talk radio moved to the big cities with folks like Don Imus and Howard Stern. In New York, Bob Grant would redefine the formula beginning in the early 70s. In fact so much of Trump on race, comes directly out of the Bob Grant playbook. Grant was the soundtrack for the New York that Donald Trump came of political age in. The Fairness Doctrine would be repealed in 1987 and suddenly radio would be set up to have political power. Then in 1988, a little known Sacramento newscaster and talk show host named Rush Limbaugh would be let loose nationally. He took the freedom of being untethered from the Fairness Doctrine, combined it with the formulas that had already proven successful in talk, added conservative politics in a sardonic and entertaining tone, and the rest is radio history. It began 30 years ago last week, and it certainly changed our entertainment, news, and the political landscape. To bring this all into focus, I'm joined by Michael Harrison, the editor and publisher of Talkers Magazine, the "bible of the talk radio industry." My WhoWhatWhy.org conversation with Michael Harrison:
https://www.youtube.com/user/WrightStateU It may be the hardest thing to do in sports. But Wright State University slugger Gabe Snyder does it with a shrug and a smile - hit home runs. “It’s a pure feeling, you just swing through it and don’t really feel the contact,” said Snyder, who plays first base. Snyder has circled the bases more than any other Raider in Wright State history. On April 29 at Youngstown State, Snyder broke the school record, hitting his 43rd career homerun and his 14th this season. “I’ve never seen a player impact a program the way he’s impacted ours this season,” said Jeff Mercer, Wright State head baseball coach who played for the Raiders in the late 2000s. Snyder also owns the career RBI record at Wright State with 204 runs batted in. He’s only 15 RBIs away from his head coach’s single season RBI record of 74. “If Gabe is inexplicably benched the last few games we’ll know that Mercer is keeping an eye on his record,” Bob Grant, director of athletics, said with a smile. The Raiders are 31-14 overall and 18-6 in the Horizon League. The team has eight games remaining on their regular season schedule, including a battle with Northern Kentucky at Fifth Third Field in downtown Dayton. http://wright.edu/news The Wright State University community is rallying to help people in Texas affected by Hurricane Harvey. On Aug. 31, Wright State Athletics donated over ten boxes of athletic clothing and shoes to The Expediting Company, a Vandalia trucking company that's shipping donations to the hurricane-stricken Southeast region of Texas. The president of that company, Gabe Knight, is a former Wright State golfer who said he was happy to be working with his alma mater on such an important effort. "You see the horrific images on the news and you think oh goodness, what can we do to help?," said Bob Grant, director of athletics. "This is a small thing that we can do but it is still important for us to do." On Sept. 1, the Wright State Boonshoft School of Medicine held a blood drive from in White Hall for hurricane victims. The Phi Rho Sigma medical society, a national social and community service organization hosted the drive. Bob's mother abandons her three children to live with Bob's father, who is an alcoholic gambler. Bob and his younger brother are born and grow up with fighting and fear. Two of his mother's children return home, and his older half-brother teaches him to steal. Both boys are required to leave school at sixteen to work. The family goes to mass every week, but live sinful lives. Bob works at a machine shop with a believer who gives him a Bible and answers questions about salvation. First part ends with Bob's salvation.
Bob's mother rails against his decision for Christ, mocking him and making him leave home. He serves in the navy, returns home to work in the machine shop, but decides to go into ministry. He marries Jean, witnesses to his family, but they are unreceptive. His older brother, abandoned at birth, finds the family, but Bob's mother rejects him. This brother and Bob's younger brother die as well as Bob's father, who prays the sinner's prayer before death. Retired now, Bob contrasts his life with his older brother, now in prison, and his mother, still unyielding at 94.
