Vision: The Story of Sister Margaret Coyne tells the remarkable story of Irish nun Sister Margaret Coyne, who ran an eye clinic near the Ethiopian-Eritrean border for decades, saving the sight of countless thousands - often in the midst of war, conflict and famine.Produced and presented by her nephew John Higgins, her story is told in her own words and through the eyes of the Ethiopian and Irish people who know and worked with her - from her sister Sabina Higgins, to the Spanish doctors who stumbled across her clinic and started an international NGO to support her work, to Ethiopian people living in Ireland and those who live there now - as the Tigray region where she lived once again finds itself embroiled in a brutal civil war.Vision: The Story of Sister Margaret Coyne is edited, presented and produced by John Higgins of As the Crow Flies Productions, with sound mixing by Neil Kavanagh of Coach House Media. Nuacht Mhall. Príomhscéalta na seachtaine, léite go mall. * Inniu an séú lá de mhí Lúnasa. Is mise Sibéal Dempsey. Bhí bean chéile Uachtarán na hÉireann, Sabina Higgins, páirteach i gconspóid an tseachtain seo mar thoradh ar litir a scríobh sí chuig an Irish Times maidir lena thráchtaireacht ar an gcogadh san Úcráin. Sa litir, atá bainte de shuíomh idirlín an Árais anois, scríobh Sabina go raibh díomá uirthi nár spreag an nuachtán aon idirbheartaíocht ar son sos cogaidh a d'fhéadfadh teacht ar shocrú síochána. Dúirt an Taoiseach nár shíl sé go raibh sé seo ar neamhréir le seasamh an rialtais, a bhí i gcónaí den tuairim go raibh an t-ionradh mídhleathach agus mímhorálta. D'eisigh oifigigh an Uachtaráin ráiteas freisin ag rá gur cháin sé an t-ionradh arís agus arís eile. D'fháiltigh ambasadóir na Rúise in Éirinn, Yuriy Filatov, roimh thuairimí Sabina, ag rá go raibh moladh Mrs Higgins ar neamhréir le seasamh na Rúise. Tá an scannán Gaeilge, An Cailín Ciúin, roghnaithe mar iontráil Oscars na hÉireann don Phríomhscannán Idirnáisiúnta is Fearr. Bunaithe ar an úrscéal ‘Foster' le Claire Keegan, tá an scannán suite sna hochtóidí agus leanann sé cailín óg darb ainm Cáit a chuirtear chun fanacht lena gaolta ar feadh samhraidh faoin tuath in Éirinn. Ba é an scannán, a stiúraigh Colm Bairéad, an chéad scannán i nGaeilge a léiríodh ag an bhféile scannán i mBeirlín agus tá iliomad gradam buaite aige cheana féin, lena n-áirítear gradaim Acadamh Scannán agus Teilifíse na hÉireann. Rinneadh é mar chuid de scéim dar teideal Cine4, tionscnamh léiriúcháin agus forbartha a chuireann maoiniú ar fáil do phríomhscannáin a dhéantar i nGaeilge. Roghnófar cúig scannán idirnáisiúnta déag anois agus nochtfar an gearrliosta deiridh de chúig cinn roimh an searmanas i mí Eanáir. Deireadh seachtaine suntasach a bhí ann do spórt na mban. Bhí ceithre chéad nócha a haon míle duine as breis agus caoga tír ag féachaint ar chluiche ceannais Pheil na mBan Dé Domhnaigh idir an Mhí agus Ciarraí. Fanann an Mhí mar Sheaimpíní na mBan d'Éirinn le scór deiridh de thrí a deich in aghaidh seachtar do Chiarraí. I Sasana, rinne ‘the Lionesses' ceiliúradh chomh maith agus iad ag buachan an choirn i gCraobhchomórtas na hEorpa 2022 den chéad uair i gcoinne na Gearmáine. Ba é seo an chéad bhua mór ag foireann Shasanach freisin ó bhuaigh na fir in 1966. Tá na himreoirí tar éis spreagadh a thabhairt d'iarrthóirí an Pháirtí Choimeádaigh ó shin a chinntiú gur féidir le “gach cailín óg” peil a imirt ar scoil. * Léirithe ag Conradh na Gaeilge i Londain. Tá an script ar fáil i d'aip phodchraolta. * GLUAIS ar neamhréir le - inconsistent with idirbheartaíocht - negotiation príomhscannán - feature film iliomad - a great many scór deiridh - final score iarrthóirí - candidates
