In this special Women's History Month episode of Tiny Pulpit Talks, Rev. T. J. FitzGerald and Rev. Beth Dana reflect on the legacy of women's leadership in Unitarian Universalism. They share stories about pioneering minister Olympia Brown and the "Iowa Sisterhood," a group of women who helped build congregations across the Midwest in the late 1800s while facing barriers and skepticism along the way. Their courage, creativity, and faith helped shape a tradition where women have long held meaningful leadership roles. The conversation also explores what matriarchal leadership can look like today. Rev. T. J. and Rev. Beth talk about family influence, ministry, and the ways women have turned qualities often labeled as "feminine" into sources of strength and community power. They invite viewers to think about the matriarchs in their own lives and how those examples might guide the future of our churches, families, and communities. Happy Women's History Month! March is Women's History Month, a time to recognize the many contributions that women have made to the fabric of American History. Women's History Month was first celebrated in 1981 as Women's History Week but became a month-long observance in 1987. We celebrate to remind ourselves of the accomplishments of women and to reflect on the trailblazing women who led the way for change. Studying the tenacity, courage, and creativity of historic women provides a sense of strength, value, and identifiable role models for all of our students. This March, we encourage you and your family to plan activities throughout the month that promote learning about unique women who have made tremendous impacts on our history. We also encourage you to learn more about women's history, accomplishments, and experiences; commemorate women's stories; and celebrate women's achievements. For more information and activities happening in our community, visit the City of Hillsboro's Women's History Month webpage. Unrequited love can take down even the most capable, confident women, and Hilary is done watching smart, high-achieving women lose themselves over someone who can't meet them where they are. This episode is a call back to your power, especially in those moments when your mind is spinning, your heart is hopeful, and the person you want isn't choosing you back. Hilary dives into the shame, the second-guessing, and the quiet panic that shows up when you start making someone else's behavior mean something about your worth. She offers a clearer way to see what's really happening, why these patterns feel so magnetic, and what becomes possible when you stop interpreting someone's “no” as proof that you're not enough. Instead of chasing, contorting, or holding on to hope that never turns into reality, Hilary invites you to be honest with yourself: would you want this person if fear wasn't making the decisions? She shares the shifts that helped her stop abandoning herself in dating, including the seven things she quit while she was single that opened her up to real love. If you're ready to step out of the spiral and back into self-respect, this episode is your starting place. Episode Highlights: Why unrequited love hits even the strongest women The subtle ways self-abandonment shows up in dating The lock-and-key truth that makes dating cleaner and calmer The questions that reveal whether someone is actually right for you The seven things Hilary quit that opened the door to real love Episode Breakdown: 00:00 Celebrating Women and the Pain of Unrequited Love 03:03 Understanding Self-Worth and Rejection 05:50 The Key and Lock Analogy in Relationships 09:07 Quitting Behaviors That Sabotage Love 17:58 Embracing Your Innate Worthiness ✨ I'm Hilary Silver, LCSW, former psychotherapist turned master coach and founder of Ready for Love. The P word. Purpose. After putting out more than 170 episodes in the past two years, I finally needed a break. The fall has been a rocky road, one of my favorite ice cream flavors, but also a tough stretch mentally. So I stepped back, went into the mountains, left the watch at home, and spent real time reconnecting with why I love moving through the outdoors.I talk about losing the sense of purpose that was so clear every single day on the Appalachian Trail FKT, and what it feels like when that structure vanishes overnight. I get into distraction, mental health, being overwhelmed by the noise of the world, and how easy it is to tear people down online. I also share why purpose matters, how I tried to find mine again, and how getting outside remains the one environment where I can think clearly, communicate honestly, and feel grounded. Then we jump into Trail TMZ. A wild update on the Grand Teton FKT switchback case, including the surprise presidential pardon that shook trail running. A Badwater 135 movie in the works with a Hollywood star attached. Montana State football chaos. And three major women's records falling at Tunnel Hill.I close with some thoughts on brands, expectations, therapy, bandwidth, identity, and why the outdoors continues to be the most reliable entryway to clarity in my life.Brought to you by long-time supporters Janji, CS Coffee, and Garage Grown Gear. Support the show on Patreon and leave a five star review if you enjoy it. It is okay to take a break. It is okay to say you are not doing well. Women hold the world together—yet much of what we do remains hidden in plain sight. From caregiving and raising children to providing emotional support and nurturing relationships, these essential contributions often go unnoticed and undervalued. Even worse, we sometimes fail to give ourselves credit for the life-changing roles we play. In this episode of Women Road Warriors, we're joined by Dr. Janelle Wells and Dr. Doreen MacAulay, award-winning scholars at the University of South Florida and authors of Our In-Visible Work. Their groundbreaking research reveals how the lack of recognition for their contributions not only suppresses women but also disempowers them across workplaces, families, and communities. Both serve as regular columnists for Psychology Today and are on a mission to expose this hidden invalidation and advocate for the acknowledgment women have long deserved for the important roles they play often in the background. This conversation aspires to inspire a re-evaluation of how we perceive and value the vital yet frequently overlooked labor that women perform daily. Tune in to this episode for a powerful, eye-opening conversation that will change the way you view “invisible” work—and inspire you to start valuing the roles that too often go unrecognized.www.wellsquest.comhttps://womenroadwarriors.com/ https://womenspowernetwork.net#OurInvisibleWork #JanelleWells #DoreenMacAulay #ShelleyMJohnson #ShelleyJohnson #KathyTuccaro #WomenRoadWarriors #WomensEmpowerment women empowerment, invisible work, emotional labor, women in the workplace, caregiving responsibilities, recognition of women's contributions, workplace culture,
