Still strong together and united forever (for now), the boys are back to talk more about Watchmen and mock Call Her Daddy! Again! I guess they really are willing to try anything twice! This time, they discuss: - Zack Snyder(Cut)'s 2009 film adaptation, it's numerous different cuts, and its even more numerous different attempts at making a Watchmen film since the 80's. - The 2019 HBO miniseries by Damon Lindelof, and how it works as a spiritual sequel, an adaptation, and as an allegory for what's going on right now. - The mediocrity of the 2017-2019 sequel comic limited series, Doomsday Clock, by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank. - The shitty prequel comics, Before Watchmen (or at least the ones that Stefan and Chris read a long time ago and chose not to re-read for this). - The even shittier Watchmen tie-in beat 'em up (that makes total sense) video game, The End is Nigh. - The biting (hehehe) social commentary Chris got from the Watchmen tie-in toaster. - And finally, Chris and Stefan show Brandon the only perfect Watchmen adaptation to ever exist: Saturday Morning Watchmen.  ***  NOTE: This episode was recorded on June 4, 2020, but we delayed releasing it until now. Because we are three non-Black people, we didn’t feel comfortable potentially co-opting an important uprising and risking trivializing it by relating it to a comic book TV show. Even though we're finally releasing the episode, it's important to still remember that we wholeheartedly believe that the voices that should be heard first and foremost with regards to the history of systemic racism in North America are BIPOC voices.  Even as the protests are slowing down, we still wholeheartedly believe that the issues of systemic racism and police brutality in North America are incredibly crucial to keep discussing and combating. If we stop speaking up against and fighting these horrid aspects of society as soon as the protests come to a halt, nothing is going to change. Keep listening to and supporting BIPOC voices and don't stop when it's no longer "trendy" to do so, keep diligent and call out any bigotry you see, support BLM and donate to local bail funds if you can, go to any protests if you can, and above all, stand in solidarity with BIPOC people. Anyone who stands on the wrong side of history here is despicable and the literal personification of trash in our eyes.   Black Lives Matter. ACAB.   - Brandon, Chris, and Stefan  Please consider donating to any of these bail funds in this Google Doc if you can: https://docs.google.com/document/u/1/d/1fb2cioBcCO47L_oGPsjdGVWDAc3RTHU2tIpDtekWKs0/mobilebasic#heading=h.1xjoly1h25g3 Check here for more ways to donate, help, and support the cause: https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co/  *** Music and Sound Credits:   Children cheering sound effects - non copyrighted sound by TosspotTV (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwqTMzKHi3Y)  Emotional Piano Music - Drops [Royalty and Copyright Free] by Whitesand (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hSyRMyqFOM)  Fun Upbeat Rock (No Copyright Music) By Anwar Amr (https://cutt.ly/8rHSRjf)  Gun Loaded Cocked And Shot by KP (Creative Commons License: Public Domain) (http://soundbible.com/1613-Gun-Loaded-Cocked-And-Shot.html)  Horror Ambiance - Ominous Background Music by ESN Productions (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAO3x-Uhfoo)   Infinity Stars by East Sound (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3i3XY0Jv9E)  TV Static by Mike Koenig (Attribution 3.0) (http://soundbible.com/1611-TV-Static.html) Brandon's YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SY8hBjOzjjc&t=586s Leave a voice message at: https://anchor.fm/sequel-decay Follow Us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/DecaySequel Like Us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SequelDecay/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCunq81vQqDwoEVcXNPPzv5A Anchor: https://anchor.fm/sequel-decay Stefan’s Twitter: https://twitter.com/TruNoStroFree Brandon’s Twitter: https://twitter.com/BrandonPawlik Chris’ Twitter: https://twitter.com/rantaclaus97 --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/sequel-decay/message

HOT COCOA SHOW! This week we talk all about Copyright, Fair Use, Parody, Fan Art and more in a discussion that's centered around a blog post I made on the topic a couple days ago (click here to check that would which ALSO has this episode embedded in it for good measure)! Creators on the internet mostly get the blame for using and sometimes abusing copyrighted material in their own creations. Sometimes they constitute something new and other times they're not at all covered under fair use and are basically just stealing, whether intentional or not. As pointed out early in the show, ignorance is not a defense against copyright infringement. However! "Internet creators" are not unique in this area, there's just a lot more artists sharing their work now than there used to be... and much of that work is the exploratory stuff nobody ever used to be privy to in the pre-internet age. Because the copyright has been extended to such a degree that more of the art which is actually still relevant in our time is copyrighted (proportionate to in the past when the copyright term was much shorter), the risk of stepping into legal quicksand is actually even more probable now. More creators, being seen earlier in their careers than ever before, in a time of extended copyright on the pop culture that itself is uniquely used as a cultural reference point of expression... that's complicated!! I aim to make things clearer for you by making it clearer for my co-host Rob in this episode of the podcast and help further in the companion blog post which I encourage you to check out.
