D. Souther, antes de su conversión al cristianismo evangélico en la Capilla Calvario de la Revolución por Jesús. Llegó a publicar cuatro álbumes entre 1976 y 1982, inspirados por su nueva fe, antes de entrar en el ministerio de esta iglesia a tiempo completo. En el primero descubre que "el diablo es un mentiroso / el peor que existe / tan sutil, siempre disfrazado / pero al final no se lleva el premio" ( Still Rollling Stones 1976). Sobre "El engañador" (The Deceiver 1984) habla también Mike Peters con The Alarm. El músico galés se enfrentó a él en una lucha continua contra el dolor y la enfermedad hasta ser "promovido a la Gloria", el pasado 2025. Su fe le llenó de esperanza hasta el final. Formada en 1983 en el contexto de la Capilla Calvario, la banda de Michael Sweet se hizo famosa por tirar biblias desde el escenario y proclamar con la cita que acompaña su nombre, que "por sus llagas somos curados" (Isaías 53:7), Mandamos con ellos "¡Al diablo al infierno!" (To Hell With The Devil 1986). El diseño sonoro y la realización técnica de estos programas es obra de Daniel Panduro.

FBI Agent Frank Turro's investigation into the death of John Constantine leads him from the lurid underground fetish clubs of Los Angeles to the iron-gated estates of the rich and powerful of Beverly Hills—where he uncovers a secret that could land him a slab in the morgue!

Accompagné de Mike Perkins, il revient avec Freddie l'arrangeur (Freddie the Fix en VO), une satire violente et sans filtre d'Hollywood, publiée chez Delcourt. Un comics corrosif qui s'inscrit dans la lignée de ses précédents travaux comme The Boys… et c'est le titre dont on parle cette semaine. Freddie l'arrangeur : le nouveau comics de Garth Ennis Deux Britanniques s'en prennent à HollywoodGarth Ennis est un scénariste irlandais incontournable, connu pour son ton brutal, provocateur et souvent très drôle. Il s'est imposé avec des séries devenues cultes comme Preacher ou The Boys, où il démonte aussi bien les super-héros que les institutions avec une bonne dose de cynisme. Son écriture, toujours très directe, mélange violence, satire et regard acerbe sur la société, ce qui en fait une voix à part dans le monde du comics. De son côté, Mike Perkins est un dessinateur britannique reconnu pour son style réaliste et sombre. Il a travaillé sur de nombreux titres chez Marvel et DC, comme Captain America, The Swamp Thing ou encore The Stand. Son trait précis et son sens de l'ambiance apportent une vraie densité visuelle aux récits qu'il illustre, ce qui colle parfaitement à l'univers noir et grinçant de Freddie l'arrangeur. Quand Ray Donovan rencontre EntourageDans Freddie l'arrangeur (Freddie the Fix), on suit Freddie, un homme de l'ombre qui règle les problèmes d'Hollywood… quels qu'ils soient. Discret, efficace et surtout sans scrupules, il navigue dans un milieu où tout peut s'acheter, se cacher ou disparaître. Entre producteurs véreux, affaires compromettantes et secrets bien gardés, le comics plonge dans les coulisses les plus sales de l'industrie du cinéma. Une satire noire et sans filtre, où Garth Ennis s'amuse à démonter les mécanismes d'un système aussi fascinant que profondément corrompu. On en pense quoi ?Ce n'est clairement pas du mauvais Garth Ennis, mais le titre est vraiment trop court pour être marquant. On a surtout l'impression qu'Ennis avait envie de s'amuser avec son pote Mike Perkins, et que le projet s'est fait un peu comme ça, sans chercher à aller beaucoup plus loin. Du coup, ce n'est pas le comics qu'on vous recommanderait pour découvrir leur travail. Mike Perkins fait le taf au dessin, mais ça reste parfois un peu figé et ça manque de dynamisme. Malgré tout, ça reste une lecture plutôt agréable : vous ne passerez pas un mauvais moment, mais vous refermerez sans doute la BD avec un petit goût d'inachevé. John Constantine has faced all sorts of devils through his sordid career, but never ones like these. In the Pacific Northwest, he finds himself face to face with the twisted side of the American Dream: a group of alleged 'patriots' bent on the extermination of everyone who doesn't fit in to their view of what America is.

Back in 1978, the rally cry of 'no future' echoed throughout the disenfranchised streets of London, screamed by angry youth who believed there truly was none. John Constantine saw otherwise and the punk rocker/magic man is bent on discovering what the future holds.

As John Constantine continues his journey across America, he reminisces about his days in the London punk scene as a member of Mucous Membrane. Drunk and on the dole, he and Chas meet an American tourist who may have a mean streak to rival even John's.

In this 'Freezes Over' conclusion, the legendary serial killer known as The Iceman reveals himself. Bodies are piling up as fast as the snow outside as Constantine and the other denizens of a tiny roadhouse struggle to survive a murderous blizzard, trapped not only by the weather, but by a madman on a mission.

Secrets are brought to light in a tiny roadhouse in the midst of a violent snowstorm. John Constantine has his share of ghastly secrets, but he's not the only traveler trapped in the blizzard with something to hide! 

As the snow falls, anxiety rises in a tiny roadside cafe caught in the midst of a devastating blizzard. John's just playing with the stranded travelers, having a laugh at their expense, but with the discovery of a horribly mutilated body, the tables turn!

A tiny roadside diner finds itself home to a variety of travelers forced off the road by a cataclysmic snowstorm. Families, drifters, truckers, and vacationers are joined by a legendary serial killer and a certain Englishman who has a knack for being in the wrong place at the right time.

John Constantine is confronted by FBI Agent Frank Turro, who has more information pertaining to Constantine's incarceration. John has always been a master at pulling the strings, but this time he finds that he may very well have been the puppet.

In our latest episode, we sit down with veteran comic book artist Mark Pennington to explore his remarkable career spanning four decades in the industry. Mark shares his journey from graduating the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art in 1985 to starting his career doing designs for iconic toy lines like G.I. Joe  at Hasbro before transitioning to comic book inking in 1988. We dive into his extensive work across major publishers including Marvel, DC, Image, CrossGen, and others, inking legendary titles like X-Men, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight, Eclipso, Violator and more, with particular focus on his acclaimed work on Shade, the Changing Man, which earned him an Eisner nomination for Best Inker in 1993. Mark discusses the often-underappreciated art of inking, his collaboration process with pencilers, working on high-profile titles like Hellblazer and JLA, and how the industry has evolved since he started. Imagine a time when the biggest action star in the world wasn't some musclebound dude with an oiled-up chest wearing a loincloth, but rather a tall, slim guy whose catch phrase was “whoa.” If you're imagining Keanu Reeves, good; if you're imagining him as John Wick, you gotta go back further, to the Matrix days of the early 00s. Now, imagine that he and a young Shia LaBeouf are kickass exorcists and the guy from Bush is a demon. Seriously! That might've been the elevator pitch for CONSTANTINE (2005). Based on the comic book Hellblazer in the most superficial ways, this one might be a contentious pick for those who don't consider it horror, but it's our show and we say angels, demons and sick forearm sigil tatz give it a pass.
