Geiger #3 delivers one of the most devastating reveals in the entire Ghost Machine universe as Tariq finally discovers the horrifying truth about the family he thought he had been protecting all this time. In this panel by panel review, Jace breaks down how Jeff Johns and Gary Frank structure the emotional flashbacks, the significance of the bunker reveal, and the exact moment Tariq fully transforms into the Glowing Man. This issue remains one of the most important foundational chapters for Geiger and the larger Unnamed mythology. This is the issue that completely redefines Tariq as a character.

Jace is joined by Cody to break down Geiger #1 from Geoff Johns and Gary Frank, exploring the debut title that launched the Ghost Machine publishing imprint. The discussion covers the post-apocalyptic setup of Tariq Geiger, the nuclear event that transforms him, and the introduction of key world-building elements including the Unnamed War, the Las Vegas factions, and the early hints of a shared universe. The episode also touches on how Geiger evolves from a seemingly self-contained story into a broader connected narrative within Ghost Machine.

Immediately after we recorded our last conversation with Brad Meltzer, we recorded a secret second episode. He was aching to discuss his next project, but he couldn't quite let the cat out of the bag until Marvel Comics released its press release. Well, friends, today's the day. The word is out: Brad Meltzer is writing the main story for the upcoming Spider-Man/Superman crossover. Now, we can release our secret conversation. In this exclusive interview with Brad Meltzer, we discuss what these icons mean to the bestselling author and what he hopes to achieve by bringing them together. Meltzer lavishes praise upon his collaborator, artist Pepe Larraz, and assures us that their story will speak directly to the two unique heroisms Spider-Man and Superman practice. We also consider how their origins might cause friction within a team-up. Our conversation with Brad Meltzer also provides another opportunity to debate those iconic words written by Stan Leein Amazing Fantasy #15: “With great power there must also come great responsibility.” We all know what those words mean, right? Right? Let's get into it. Spider-Man/Superman #1 will hit comic shops on April 15th. In addition to Brad Meltzer and Pepe Larraz's story, the comic will feature backup tales by Dan Slott, Marcos Martin, Geoff Johns, Gary Frank, Jason Aaron, Russell Dauterman, Louise Simonson, Todd Nauck, Joe Kelly, Humberto Ramos, Brian Michael Bendis, Sara Pichelli, and more. Make sure you head to your local bookstore to get your copy of The Viper, and follow Brad Melzer on Instagram and Bluesky. Shall we begin like David Copperfield? "I am born…I grew up?" Or shall we begin about 120 years after Anne Rice's novel Interview with the Vampire took place, with AMC's brilliant TV adaptation shifting the story from Louis de Pointe du Lac as a wealthy white plantation owner in the 1790s to one where Louis is a Black man in the 1910s working the red light district to keep his family fed? That's one of the many brilliant changes Rolin Jones and his writers have made to Rice's beloved book, and Paul, Arlo, and Eric couldn't be happier. The gang discusses why these changes fit so well in a series driven by its characters' perceptions of reality; the beautiful work by a cast including Jacob Anderson, Sam Reid, Eric Bogosian, Bailey Bass, Delainey Hayles, and Assad Zaman; and why, yes, this Interview is just better than the book. NEXT: it's been a while since we've had a Four-Color Flashback, eh? Let's take back the night with J. Michael Straczynski and Gary Frank's Midnight Nation. The SuperHero Homies are diving deep into DC's Doomsday Clock, the ambitious pseudo-sequel to Watchmen written by Geoff Johns and illustrated by Gary Frank. This 12-issue DC Comics epic brings together two of the most iconic worlds in comic history — Watchmen and the DC Universe — as Superman and Doctor Manhattan finally collide in one of the most fascinating superhero stories ever told. In this spoiler-filled Doomsday Clock review, we break down the major events, character arcs, and themes of this story. We discuss how the book pays homage to Alan Moore's Watchmen while carving out its own identity within the modern DC mythos. We also analyze the deeper meaning behind the Superman and Dr. Manhattan dynamic, the artwork's incredible attention to detail, and why this story feels like a fitting continuation to one of the most legendary comics ever made. Before diving into the review, we kick things off with a cold open covering the potential WB Discovery buyout, what it could mean for James Gunn's DCU, and the new Xbox console announcement (and Game Pass controversy).

On this week of BatMarch we cover a modern take on some classic Batman lore with Batman Earth One volume 1. “Geoff Johns and artist Gary Frank re-imagine a new mythology for the Dark Knight, where the familiar is no longer the expected in this original graphic novel from DC Comics.”But first Jake reveals a secret about recording the podcast of late. Cody has a wholesome weekend. Once again, Cody's split pea soup was not in fact split by he himself. Anthony reveals a disrespectful costume of his in high school. We decide it's time to do a Jumanji episode. Jake talks about his role in the new Jumanji film promos. Anthony & Cody turn their backs on Jack Black. Jake reveals he turns his back on Cody at least once a year. Alfred is a straight G in this comic. Penguin great as the big villain in this comic. We discuss DC's other Earth One comics. Gary Frank's art gives a very distinct feel to the book. Are we possibly getting a very big guest in the near future? Does Matt Reeves' The Batman draw inspiration from this book? Bruce Wayne's rich entitled bratty self is responsible for the death of his parents. Is this a more entitled Bruce Wayne than other iterations? Geoff Johns pays homage to past comic & film Batman lore. The Earth One books are some strong DC comics especially Green Lantern Earth One & Superman Earth One. Letting people borrow comic books is something Jake & Anthony can agree on: DON'T DO IT! Cody admits he ruined one of Jake's comics while Jake admits to holding one of Cody's hostage. Cody gives reason why you shouldn't let him borrow anything. Is 3 shots of liquor equal to one shovel? Tune into the answer for these questions and for more BatMarch!Check out Superguy on Kickstarter:https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mrtonynacho/superguy-1Check out our Patreon:https://www.patreon.com/ComicsandChronicCheck out our website: https://www.comicsandchronic.com/New episodes every THURSDAYFollow us on social media! I recently got the chance to speak with All-Star writer Geoff Johns, and the only thing harder than keeping my composure in the conversation is trying to summarize it for the show notes. It's probably best you just listen. About Geoff Johns:Geoff Johns is an award-winning and New York Times bestselling writer, film and television producer, showrunner, and entrepreneur known for re-imagining superheroes and other iconic mythologies, past and present. Johns is best known for his work on properties such as Green Lantern, Aquaman, The Flash, Superman, Batman, Justice Society of America, and most recently, the creator-owned hit series GEIGER, currently being adapted for television at Paramount.Since the beginning of his creative career, Johns' hallmark has been writing heroic and inclusive characters, including teenage hero Courtney Whitmore aka Stargirl, inspired by his real-life late sister; the Shazam Family, which he re-imagined into a diverse modern family of today; and the first Arab-American Green Lantern, Simon Baz, as well as the explosive multi-colored Lantern mythology that defined his decade-long bestselling Green Lantern run, among many, many others.Johns' most recognized work in television is the critically acclaimed “Stargirl” series which he created and ran. Some of his film credits include “Wonder Woman” (executive producer), “Wonder Woman 1984” (also co-writer), “Aquaman” (also story) and “Shazam!” (executive producer), based on his graphic novel with longtime collaborator and modern legendary artist, Gary Frank. In 2023, Johns co-founded GHOST MACHINE, the first-of-its-kind creator-owned company. This groundbreaking collective includes some of the industry's most legendary writers and artists, disrupting the old industry model by giving ownership to its creators, and paving the way for them to retain creative control and financial participation.Born in Detroit to a Lebanese father, Johns was honored with his own permanent section at the Arab American National Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. This week we've got a couple of Half Baked episodes starting with Anthony & Jake and they're discussing the Image comic Geiger by critically acclaimed writer Geoff Johns & artist Gary Frank with colorist Brad Anderson. Per image: "Set in the years after a nuclear war ravaged the planet, desperate outlaws battle for survival in a world of radioactive chaos. Out past the poisoned wasteland lives a man even the Nightcrawlers and Organ People fear. Some name him Joe Glow, others call him the Meltdown Man. But his name...is Geiger." But first Jake reveals a new action figure. Plus, is Geoff Johns one of Anthony's most influential comic writers? Does this book have a lot of the usual post-apocalyptic/nuclear wasteland elements? Does the art in this book tell a bigger story than the writing? Does this character borrow from Hulk, Ghost Rider, and Nightwing? Is Geoff Johns an edgelord? Is this book sad? Is this book a quick read in the best way? Is the world building in this comic one we want to see more of? Will Cody enjoy the fact that families die in this comic? Tune in to learn all about GEIGER! DCOCD is the DC Comics events podcast, where we look at every DC event in chronological order from Crisis on Infinite Earths to... we're not quite sure yet. The darkly violent Flashpoint universe is somehow back and no one is more surprised than Thomas Wayne who decides to do everything in his power to wipe out that reality to save his son. But why is Bruce in the main DC Universe staking everything on his failure? Paul is joined by first-time guest DC DAVE and the always sparkling LAUREL of the Wright On Network to discuss, critique, praise and ultimately rate and rank this event. This event is led by GEOFF JOHNS, JEREMY ADAMS, TIM SHERIDAN, EDUARDO RISSO, TRISH MULVIHILL, XERMANICO, GARY FRANK, MIKEL JANIN, ROMULA FAJARDO JR, JORDIE BELAIRE, ROB LEIGH, MARQUIS DRAPER, ANDREW MARINO, KATIE KUBERT and and main covers by MITCH GERADS.. Jason Fabok returns to talk about the new series Rook: Exodus from himself, Geoff Johns, Brad Anderson, and Rob Leigh, as well as the birth of Ghost Machine, the new imprint at Image Comics, founded by themselves along with other A list creators like Brad Meltzer, Gary Frank, Peter Tomasi, Francis Manapul, and others. Jason discusses how Ghost Machine came together, some of the differences between steering their own Ghost Machine ship versus working with other publishers, and some of the other current and upcoming titles from other Ghost Machine creators. We also go a little bit into the upcoming 3 Jokers related story included in Joker: The World, coming in September. Beware spoilers for issue 3 of Rook: Exodus, in stores today! After a few updates and announcements for the 20th Anniversary gathering, Patreon, and Youtube, Bryan, Peter, Shane, Pants and Adam return to Off the Rack to discuss Ghost Machine, the first fully shared creator-owned comic book universe! By the creative team of Geoff Johns, Brad Anderson and Rob Leigh, we give our thoughts on the first issues of Geiger with art by Gary Frank; Redcoat with art by Bryan Hitch; and Rook: Exodus with art by Jason Fabok. We then get into some convention talk with a recent visit to the Lehigh Valley Comic Con, do some Year Two CGS Trivia, and more! (1:34:13)
