This comes days after United Nations "Peacekeepers" were killed in Lebanon. Netanyahu claims that Hezbollah is hiding behind UN troops, though that's also what they say about civilians as they recently killed 22 and injured 139 in an attack on a residential building only for the one actual Hezbollah target to escape unscathed. As the Israeli Finance Minister openly proclaims the goal is to expand the borders of Israel in the same fashion as the "Greater Israel Project," it's clear that this will not end any time soon. It's only going to get more dangerous. The United States has committed to bombing Iran and using THAAD the air defense system to shoot down potential Iranian missiles and planes. Gaza continues to be pummeled and France, Italy and Spain have called for all weapons shipments to Israel to be stopped as Germany's Sholz sends more weaponry to the genocidal nation. Of course this issue is being framed as left vs right when in reality it's humanity vs mass murder. They're playing countries against each other. The European countries against the consensus of the EU. Threats against Iran which of course is one of the top allies of Russia and China. They want chaos and out of that, they want order. This is how they achieve their "Great Reset." All they need is the right excuse. Are you prepared yet? Stay tuned for more from WAM! Former Yugoslavia leaders sign Dayton Peace Accord. After Yugoslavia’s communist dictator Marshal Tito died in 1980, ethnic differences generated chaos. Ethnic and religious factions pitted Albanians, Serbs, Croats, Slovenes, Orthodox Christians, Catholics and Muslims against each other, resulting in three and a half years of civil war marked by ethnic cleansing and 200,000 deaths. Eventually, the leaders of Bosnia, Serbia and Croatia initiated a peace process named after talks that took place in Dayton, Ohio. On December 14, 1995 in Paris, the three leaders signed the Dayton Accord, which pledged thousands of United Nations Peacekeepers to the region to keep Bosnia together, yet with divided federations. The Croat federation held most of the country’s 51 per cent Muslims, while the Serb republic held the remainder of the population. The peace process was paved with conflict and mistrust and complicated by Serbia’s leader, Slobodan Milosevic, attempting to control as much of the former Yugoslavia as possible; he was later prosecuted for war crimes and died in his prison cell in March, 2006. But by 2003, the UN succeeded in transferring powers to local police and military. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

First United Nations peacekeeping operation leads to annual day of recognition. The United Nations officially came into existence on October 24, 1945. Its Universal Declaration of Human Rights, ratified in 1948, is one of its most important documents. In order to protect human rights, the UN marked peacekeeping as an early priority. The first peacekeeping operation was established for the Middle East in 1948, along with the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization. On May 29, 1948, operations began with unarmed military observers in Palestine, an assignment that continues today. Since then, dozens of peacekeeping operations have involved thousands of troops in monitoring ceasefires and buffer zones, and serving as military observers, disarmament experts, civilian police, human rights workers, humanitarian workers and civil administrators. At its peak in 1993, the UN had 70,000 troops deployed around the world. Although peacekeeping is not mentioned in the UN Charter, the Security Council provides the mandate and defines the tasks. Nine of the Security Council’s 15 members must vote on a peacekeeping mission and none of the five permanent members against it, for it to go ahead. In 2002, the General Assembly voted to establish May 29th as the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers, an annual commemoration kicked off in 2003. On July 9, South Sudan commemorates its 5th independence day. And I say "commemorates" and not "celebrates" because there is not a whole lot to celebrate. The country has been mired in conflict since late 2013, when a political dispute between president Salva Kiir and his deputy Riek Machar devolved into an armed battle and then full blown civil war.   The consequences of this war for the people of South Sudan have been immense. Millions have been displaced, and though a peace deal was signed last year violence continues to flare up and the humanitarian situation is as dire as ever.  On the line to discuss recent developments in South Sudan, the role of the United Nations Peacekeepers in the country, and the humanitarian situation is Noah Gottschalk, who is the senior humanitarian policy advisor at Oxfam. He does a good job of offering some broader context to understand how South Sudan has so unraveled in the last five years.    If you have 20 minutes and want to understand the deep challenges that face the people of South Sudan on the country's 5th birthday --  and the leaders under whom they have been so ill-served --  have a listen.

The Fringeborn Character template has been added to the Character Creation section of the rules. The Fringeborn Edge has been created. Ported over the d20 Fringeworthy Campaign types and models. Renamed the United Nations Space Agency to the World Aeronautics Exploration Agency, WAXA. This was added at the same time I added the United Nations Peacekeepers, Fringe Division. Things to do for next week:Update the Campaign Types to take account of Portals Book 4. Events in that book will alter potential campaign types. Add in Budget rules for IDE Teams due to the fact that the UN doesn't have much money.  Update the UNIDA description to make it clear that it's an affiliate organization to the UN, that's beholden to the Security Council. Add in the new character type: The Freelancer. A Fringeworthy explorer who doesn't belong to UNIDA or TÆSS. Update again next Sunday!
