Starting next week, St. Cloud State University will have their first cohort of students enrolled in a new cannabis certificate program. Minnesota State Community and Technical College — or M State, which has schools across northwest Minnesota — will expand their offerings. M State was the first two-year college in greater Minnesota to offer cannabis education. Both schools are partnering with the company Green Flower to offer the courses. Max Simon the CEO of Green Flower, and Sean Collins, director of workforce development solutions at M State, joined Minnesota Now host Nina Moini to talk about the programs and the budding industry.
THE AWAKENING OF CHINA'S ECONOMY Colleague Anne Stevenson-Yang, Wild Ride. Returning to China in 1994, the author witnessed a transformation from the destitute, Maoist uniformity of 1985 to a budding export economy. In the earlier era, workers slept on desks and lacked basic goods, but Deng Xiaoping's realization that the state needed hard currency prompted reforms. Deng established Special Economic Zones like Shenzhen to generate foreign capital while attempting to isolate the population from foreign influence, marking the start of China's export boom. Nigel Farage hosted a press conference today as part of Reform's summer crime campaign 'Britain is lawless'. He unveiled the latest Tory defector: Leicestershire's Police & Crime Commissioner Rupert Matthews. Amidst all the noise of whether crime in the UK is falling or not, plus the impact of migration on crime, is Reform's messaging cutting through? Would US Vice President agree with Farage's message that Britain is lawless? Vance is in the UK, staying in the Cotswolds, as part of his summer holiday. Tim Shipman and Lucy Dunn are joined by James Orr, associate professor at Cambridge University, and a friend of Vance's to talk us through the dynamics between Trump, Vance, Starmer, Lammy and Farage. Does Farage have Vance's ear? Plus: James explains the rationale behind the new Reform-linked think tank that he is leading, saying that the Centre for a Better Britain is about seeking to build a 'politics of national preference'. Ken Carman and Jason Lloyd discuss whether the new NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder could be a budding dynasty, and what may need to be changed for the Cleveland Cavaliers to contend in an ever-changing Eastern Conference.
On the latest NFL Players: Second Acts podcast, former Super Bowl champion and offensive lineman Jeff Allen joins Peanut and Roman. Jeff takes it back to his roots in Chicago, where he began his football journey at King College Prep. He reflects on what it was like growing up in the city and the stark contrast between Chicago’s football culture and the football-obsessed environment of Texas. Jeff also shares his improbable rise from a zero-star high school recruit to making it to the NFL. The conversation turns to the infamous 2013 Wild Card matchup between the Chiefs and Colts, where Jeff opens up about the emotional rollercoaster of blowing a 28-point lead, a memory that still stings. He talks about what it was like playing under Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and shares where he ranks Reid on his personal list of the greatest head coaches of all time. Jeff then goes on to tell the story of how Reid called him to talk him out of retirement and how he ultimately earned a Super Bowl ring in 2019 despite being released midseason. Now in his second act, Jeff dives into his entrepreneurial journey with Cookie Society, the gourmet cookie brand he co-founded with his wife. He shares the hilarious story of posing as the company’s PR rep to communicate with Oprah’s team, an email that led to Cookie Society being featured on Oprah’s Favorite Things list. Jeff also gets candid about the challenges of building a business and what he's learned along the way. "The words 'not now' had created a fortress of excuses that had confined me to the status quo. And I was miserable inside it." "The simple act of taking notice of what you say, to others and to yourself, will build the foundation for change to happen." Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
