In this poetic episode, Alicia Henry shares: how grief is part of her every cell, in the most beautiful way; how choosing to live seasonally with Nature can provide deep comfort; why Winter is the lightest time of year; and tender words of encouragment for those facing grief. Alicia is a mother, meditation teacher, writer, actor, and ceremonialist. Having spent her childhood in awe of nature's beauty and grace, Alicia continues to explore mindfulness through meditation, poetry, Reiki, and tea ceremony. She facilitates moon circles, intentional gatherings, and wellness retreats for fellow soul travelers on the path of personal exploration. Her offerings are inspired by the ever-unfurling magic of Nature that connects us to Source, giving her the heart space to share these practices with others. With a passion for storytelling, Alicia's acting journey has brought her on stage from New York City to Virginia, as well as numerous television appearances. As a writer, Alicia has supported well-being brands in bringing their vision to the world, and some of her work has graced billboards across the country. Always with a glass-half-full perspective on life, she is aptly part of the team that helped achieve the International Day of Happiness, which became a United Nations resolution. You dig into the little things macOS quietly does for you, starting with the surprising truth about Clipboard History and why macOS 26 might feel slower than you’d expect. You explore ways to rein things in, from taming runaway apps to making better use of iPhone Mirroring and clever video capture tricks. Along the way, you're reminded that old hardware still has value if you give it purpose, and that blind trust in AI troubleshooting can lead you astray faster than it helps. This is where staying curious beats staying complacent, and where “Don't Get Caught” is more than a catchphrase. Then you move into the real-world problem solving that defines Mac Geek Gab: networking quirks that break expectations, WiFi settings that ignore reservations, and router updates that change the rules midstream. You also get clear, practical guidance on buying the right Mac, migrating only what you actually need, hunting down duplicate files, and reclaiming menu bar space from the notch. Even photo libraries get a reality check, helping you decide what truly needs to live inside Photos. It's a fast-moving episode packed with answers you can use immediately, designed to keep your setup efficient, intentional, and frustration-free. 00:00:00 Mac Geek Gab 1121 for Monday, December 22nd, 2025 December 22nd: International Day of Mathematics MGG Monthly Giveaway – Enter to win a copy of OpenIn! What does radical inclusion really look like – and what would change if dignity, access and belonging were built into our systems from the start?Marking the UN's International Day of Persons with Disabilities, this episode of Our World, Connected explores how societies can move beyond charity and good intentions towards a rights-based approach to disability inclusion – one that centres listening, participation, and meaningful action.Host Christine Wilson is joined on this episode by Nada Ehab, a youth development specialist and advisor to the British Council's Inclusive Youth Empowerment Programme in Egypt. Nada reflects on her journey from empathy-driven inclusion to a collective rights-based, participatory model, and shares insights from her work supporting young people with disabilities to engage in advocacy, social entrepreneurship, and community-led change. Together, they discuss the barriers that still exist in education, public spaces and digital environments, and why inclusion must be embedded across systems, not treated as a quota. We also hear a personal story from Saja Mohammed Alkadhimi, a 19-year-old student from Baghdad, UN Youth Advisory Council member, and disability rights advocate. Saja shares her experiences navigating education as a wheelchair user, the importance of accessible infrastructure, and why inclusive schools matter not just for learning, but for belonging. Her story brings the conversation to life, reminding us that inclusion is about unlocking potential, not lowering expectations. From education and policy to technology and leadership, this episode asks how we turn conversations about inclusion into concrete change - and why the responsibility for removing barriers must sit with society as a whole.Listen to Our World, Connected, the award-winning podcast from the British Council, exploring culture, communication, and the power of collaboration in a changing world.

Like the millions of people living with disabilities, Paralympians have a multitude of ways they acquired those disabilities. Some like Ezra Frech were born with disabilities and many others like Lindi Marcusen acquired those disabilities later in life, in her case in a car accident just two weeks after her wedding. Nonetheless, the Paralympic Games have provided an amazing outlet for Ezra, Lindi and others to show everything they are capable of at the highest level of sport. In Ezra’s case, that resulted in two gold medals in Paris in the 100 meters and the high jump in his classification, and in Lindi’s case, it has allowed her to become the fastest woman on the U.S. team. But just because they have had success on the field doesn’t mean their travel experiences are easy. In fact, each of them has faced challenges as they seek to transport both themselves and their equipment to locations around the world, including to the world’s most prestigious sports events. It’s one of many reasons they are both now spokespeople for a new campaign organized by Ottobock, the global medtech company, called “The Invisible Class,” which is aiming to put a spotlight on the organizations that are actually succeeding when it comes to providing a better experience. And with December 3 being International Day of Persons with Disabilities, this conversation will take a look at what some of those travel challenges can be. But we’ll also take a look ahead at the opportunity that the Paralympic Games in Los Angeles will present to engage more people in the types of conversations that turn some of those travel challenges around.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In this program, Oliver Slewa discusses the International Day of People with Disability, Homer Abramian explains how the Assyrian civilisation was first uncovered in 1842, and experts in Australia talk about how parents should approach the upcoming social media ban for children under 16.

December 3 marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, an annual observance established by the United Nations in 1992. The 2025 theme is "fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress". In this episode, we examine India's Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016, and the principle of reasonable accommodation. Under Section 2(y), reasonable accommodation means "any necessary and appropriate modification and/or adjustment" that enables PwDs to enjoy their rights equally with others, without imposing a "disproportionate or undue burden."Yet despite clear policy mandates, it remains treated as a "nice to have" by many organisations and public institutions. Why do implementation gaps persist? What costs—physical, emotional, and social—do employees with disabilities bear? And what will it take to move beyond tick-box compliance toward genuine inclusion? Guest: Amran Ali, Executive Director, National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP), and a prominent voice in the disability rights movement. Host: Vibha B Madhava Recorded by Jude Weston and Tayyab Hussain Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Nearly one in ten women in Slovakia experienced some form of psychological or physical violence in the past year. And while this is slightly below the global average of 14%, the number remains alarmingly high — with experts warning that the true scale is likely much greater, as many incidents go unreported. To mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25 November), we look at why gender-based violence persists, which societal factors fuel it, and what support systems exist in Slovakia today. We bring you expert perspectives from Zuzana Očenašová, psychologist and researcher) from the Institute for Research in Social Communication of Slovak Academy of Sciences; Andrej Kuruc, psychologist and long-time specialist on gender inequality; and Barbora Burajová from the Coordination and Methodology Centre for the Prevention of Violence Against Women. As always, the programme also includes a new episode of Slovak Sound Check — this time focusing on ordinal numbers in Slovak.

Every week on the Flavor of Italy Podcast, we explore the food, wine, history, landscapes, and everyday stories that shape life in Italy. But every now and then, a moment calls for reflection — and today is one of those days. Because today, Tuesday, November 25, is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. It's a global day of awareness and remembrance, but here in Italy it carries deep cultural, social, and historical significance. And yet this week is also Thanksgiving week — a time of cooking, gathering, connection, and gratitude, especially for my listeners in the United States. Each year on 25 November, communities mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, yet for too many it's a daily reality. Within Australia's Indian community, many women on temporary or dependent visas hesitate to seek help due to fear, stigma and uncertainty. Community organisations provide critical support and legal guidance. In this conversation, India Club Inc President Shubha Kumar outlines causes, early warning signs, support pathways and the wider community's responsibility.

In this episode, we host Associate Professor Disa Sauter from the University of Amsterdam, and Edward Mishaud from The Beyond Lab at UN Geneva, to explore affective science and the role of hope in driving individual and collective sustainability action. They explain active versus passive hope, how different emotions shape decision-making, and why hopeful, solution-focused communication matters for sustainable development. The conversation highlights practical pathways for bringing emotion research into multilateral spaces, the secret of storytelling as a tool to cultivate hope, and real-world examples of collective impact. Listeners learn how hope can mobilize agency, bridge individual and collective action, and inform better policy, negotiations and outreach. Resources: Ask a Librarian! Philomena MulvennaPhilomena Mulvenna died in the early hours of last Friday morning. I have known Philomena and her husband Paddy for most of my adult life. Paddy and she were 72 years married and they had 7 children. Mrs Mulvenna protested with other women against military occupation and for decades on behalf of the political prisoners especially the Armagh women and the blanket men. The song sings unfairly, of the boys of Ballymurphy but all of us know that without the women of Ballymurphy, the struggle would have not succeeded as it has in this Republican heartland. Like working class Republican women throughout the North, these mothers and grandmothers, sisters and wives were unbreakable, indomitable and resilient.Brendan MurphyI was deeply saddened to hear of the death of Brendan. I had the pleasure of knowing him for decades, although I haven't seen him in ages.Martin CollinsMartin Collins would not have been well known on this side of the Irish Sea. But in London he was central to many of the Irish organisations and campaigns, as well as the solidarity movements like Troops Out. Martin campaigned for decades against British injustice in Ireland. It was through this work that I often met him in London.Solidarity with the Palestinian PeopleTo mark International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People there will be an event in Ionad Eileen Howell/St. Comgall's in Belfast on 29 November at 11am. This will involve a conversation between myself and Seanadoir Chris Andrews who recently participated in the Global Freedom Flotilla to Gaza.A Passport office for the NorthThe consistent refusal by Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael to establish a passport office in the North flies in the face of the very clear demand for such a service. Year after year the numbers of people in the North applying for an Irish passport has grown substantially. Last year over 128,000 people living in the six counties applied for an Irish passport.

Todd Nettleton is vice president of message for the Voice of the Martyrs-USA. Todd is also host of The Voice of the Martyrs Radio. In his position, he serves as a voice for persecuted Christians, inspiring Christians with the faithfulness of Christ's followers in over 70 nations where they face persecution for wearing His name. During more than 25 years serving at VOM, Todd has traveled the world and conducted face-to-face interviews with hundreds of Christians who've endured persecution in more than 30 nations. He is the author of When Faith is Forbidden: 40 Days on the Frontlines with Persecuted Christians. Others bring comfort when they pray for you. However, when was the last time you prayed for the persecuted church? There are many who suffer on account of their faith in Jesus Christ. Some are behind bars, some have received physical beating, some are being denied a place to live or a job to earn a living, while others are cast out of their family. Like you, such individuals are greatly encouraged when they know other believers are praying for them. This is the focus of this Crosstalk as we approach the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. Some churches will be participating this Sunday November 2, while others will participate the following Sunday. Regardless of the date, it's important for us to be praying for those suffering on account of their faith in Christ. So don't miss this broadcast as Todd had much to talk about!

In the first half of today's edition of Stand Up, Mary welcomes back Todd Nettleton of Voice of the Martyrs to catch us up on the state of the church in areas that are not friendly to the gospel. We tend to think that Christians are mistreated only in Islamic nations, but in other parts of the world outside of Africa, communism contributes to violence against believers, since Islam and atheism are both hostile to the truth of the gospel. Todd talks about his recent travels, and the International Day of Prayer for Persecuted Christians coming up on November 2. We talk about some other hotspots, and how the listener can support this ministry or be involved on a local level. Then Mary looks at some headlines: Ballroom Blues and why the left has gone insane over the reno at the White House; the NYC mayoral race and who bought what so our nation's largest city could become socialist; and some more odds and ends of the news cycle as October winds down. “I just want the Bible. How much does it cost?” First, the young Druze woman tried to access and read her own religion's holy book. But she wasn't allowed to read it. Then she tried to find a Quran. Finally, she came to a church and asked to purchase a Bible, worried she wouldn't have enough money to pay for it. The pastor told her that God's Word is priceless, but that he would give it to her without cost. Shocked, she took the Bible and began to read, eventually giving her life to Jesus. Brother Michael, a gospel worker in the Middle East, will share more of this young woman's powerful story and the Christian persecution she faced from her family while standing firm in Christ. In spite of persecution, even locked in a room, she continued to share the gospel. Learn what it's like to live as a Christian in the Middle East, and what believers face after leaving Muslim or Druze backgrounds to follow Christ. As believers engage in conversations with family and friends, they carefully plant spiritual seeds while testing their listeners' hearts to see if they are ready to go deeper. Brother Michael also shares how he trains and leads discipleship through Discovery Bible Study groups, which are multiplying as new believers share their personal testimonies with family and friends. One group started with nine believers, but today has multiplied into more than twenty groups with 150 believers! Hear how you can pray specifically for Brother Michael and our persecuted Christian family in the Middle East. The International Day of Prayer for Persecuted Christians (IDOP) is next Sunday! Churches in Algeria have been closed by the government. Pastors have been threatened. But ministry continues. Pastor Abraham and Sara are back on VOM Radio this week to continue our conversation about God's work in the Middle East and North Africa—and the Christian persecution that Christ's followers face. Listen for the story of one pastor who has repeatedly changed his phone number because of constant threats. Yet he remains in his country and continues to share the gospel with Muslims. They will also offer an update on the situation for Christians in Syria as we near the one-year anniversary of the fall of the Assad regime. Abraham and Sara will also share how Christians fleeing violence and danger in the region are going as missionaries to their new homelands—sometimes reaching their countrymen even in far-off lands! You'll be equipped to pray for Christians in Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Algeria and other nations as you listen this week. This week's episode is for the girls - fitting, since International Day of The Girl Child just passed by. We are joined by Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani female education activist, who reminds us the importance of education, community, structure and balance for every girl, everywhere in the world. She gets real about the pressures and life differences in being Malala the activist vs Malala the woman. She also shares some (extremely peaceful) advice on dilemmas about a girl who built her family business from the ground-up, only to be pushed out, and another who believes her siblings hate her. It's thoughtful, peaceful and very for the girls

Hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced from their homes and their countries amidst war and upheaval in the Middle East. Pastor Abraham and Sara are living as representatives of God's love to displaced people in the Middle East. The ministry can be messy and difficult, yet they persist in demonstrating love in practical ways. And they are seeing great fruit for their ministry. Abraham and Sara will share how one woman—the widow of an imam—had heard all kinds of negative things about Christians. But when she came to the church, she found something very different: people who loved her and helped her. Listen to hear the story of how God answered the woman's prayer within 24 hours, and how a dream led her to commit her life to Jesus. Leaving Islam behind to follow Jesus comes with a cost, though. Abraham and Sara will also share what Christian persecution looks like in the region, including pressure from families or tribes as well as Islamists or government authorities. “We are planting seeds,” Sara says, “we are the tools for His Kingdom.” Pray for Abraham & Sara's ministry as they serve lost and forgotten people in the Middle East and seek to reveal Christ's love for them.
