I have known Craig for 13-14 years since my company in the UK partnered with Martec. He has a tremendous approach to customer service and maximizing potential which is why I know he will add value to you today. While Craig focuses on Businesses and their employees the methods apply to anyone.Craig explains how he started in the automotive industry 25+ years ago and secured a position as a trainee sales advisor at a car dealership - exactly the same as I did in 1989! After a few years selling Craig moved into a Senior Sales position, Sales Manager, and ultimately General Manager of a site before moving to take a position at Martec services. 13 years later Craig is now a Director and Shareholder of Martec.Chris: What is the purpose of Martec?Craig: To help people improve by improving behaviors and skills that will produce the results. This can be in engaging group sessions or on a 1:1 basis. Training is one side of the business in all areas: Sales, Service and Parts. The other side is analytical solutions where we analyze phone calls to understand the communication style, listening style, and the behaviors of the people within the business. It is all about helping people improve!Martec uses the science of NLP in their training and also work closely on visual and kin-esthetic learning styles. Using positive language and tonality to understand how people think and the language they use to help them connect better.n.b. Chris offers DISC so if you are interested in learning more visit his website to see the different assessments!Conscious awareness of what you are saying and how your customer is receiving the message is key in becoming a better communicator. Active listening is a skill. Many people listen to respond but the skill is in listening to understand BEFORE you formulate your response. Pay attention to the words, nuances, and tonality in the conversation and if necessary repeat back what you have heard to confirm understanding. The "light-bulb" moment comes when someone listens back to their conversation as they often do not realize what they sound like and how this is interpreted. Awareness is key! These sessions help people to maximize their potential. We all have the potential to improve out performance, no matter what level we are at. As our level of awareness increases, so does our potential to increase our potential.Leaders are not born leaders, this is a learned skill. - Chris J. BakerChris: What 3 pieces of advice would you recommend for a business looking to improve their performance?Craig: 1: Does the business really understand how they are dealing with their customers? If they don't it is difficult to improve. Drill down to understand how effective their people are in dealing with inquiries.2: Have they got the right people in place? 3: Have an awareness of the behaviors and habits of your people. Only 7% of communication is from the words we use!It is all about the people! We want to get results and results come from actions and actions come from the behaviors so work on the behaviors!Everyone needs to believe in the process and it starts with the leadership buying into the concept. It was such an awesome time talking to Craig Goldy. The guy is pretty much an unsung legend in my opinion. He played and co-wrote Dream Evil, my fave Dio album. He was also Ronnie's longest running guitarist and was a great friend of his for many years. While Craig and I did have a […]
This week it's all about Prince Harry! Biographer Katie Nicholl takes us back to Harry's complicated childhood, his wild years from Eaton to Vegas, and the experiences that defined Harry as a soldier and humanitarian. We learn where the royal family gets their wealth and how Meghan marrying in could give the monarchy a big tax headache. While Craig is away, producer Maggi Van Dorn joins Sean to calculate what makes this reformed bad boy of Buckingham so swoon-worthy. Special thanks to Isabelle Mattinson for narration.
In this second instalment of an STTS ‘White Album’ trilogy, Richard and Erik are once again joined by musician Craig Bartock and musicologist Allan Kozinn to discuss an incredibly diverse collection of Paul McCartney tracks; ranging from novelty numbers and classic ballads to proto-grunge head-bangers and timeless rockers. Carolyn Strauss (@CarolynStrauss on twitter) joins host Craig Price to discuss her experiences and what she learned partnering with the Home Shopping Network. While Craig has known Carolyn for a few years, he never asked her on because she was a bit too well known. Why would she come on his little old podcast? When she offered to come on, Craig leapt at the chance. It wasn't just because she is a world class designer and businesswoman with vast experience running a multimillion dollar apparel company. There was also the bonus of getting some serious street cred with the women in his life. Particularly his wife and both mother and mother-in-law! The two chat about a wide variety of things including how she transitioned from model to designer, pitching products to HSN, dealing with live caller interactions, why value-per-minute is just as important in non-sales positions and a bunch more. A fun interview that peeks behind the scenes at the goings-ons of a shopping channel and how stunned Craig is by the power of these channels. Carolyn can be found at her self titled website http://CarolynStrauss.com

Barbara Dolan (@Derby_Lite on twitter) invites host Craig Price into her home to discuss roller derby. While in Chicago (birthplace of roller derby) this past spring, Craig couldn't pass up a chance to sit down with the Queen B herself, Barbara Dolan to discuss the history of roller derby. They talk about the rules, what the positions are called and how Barbara has taken some of the fundamentals of roller derby and incorporated them into her fitness company Derby Lite where women of all ages practice the skills and drills of the sport of roller derby. While Craig remembers watching bits of roller derby on Saturday afternoons in the 70s and 80s, a resurgence in the past decade has really elevated to sport into not only a safer sport but something people can readily participate in. The two even figure out a cool derby name for Craig. At Derby Lite their Certified Instructors lead high energy Fitness Skating exercise classes for Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced skaters where ladies become healthier humans - physically and emotionally - as they learn to skate with a roller derby edge, no impact or competition. Each workout includes off-skates dynamic warm-ups, on-skates skills and drills, upper-body strength exercises and cool-down stretching. It's a balanced, whole-body workout that's never boring, shows progress week after week, and brings you into a welcoming community of women like no other. It's fun, fitness and friends. But mostly fun. Go to http://DerbyLite.net to learn how you can get involved in a city near you!

You can register for the May 24th PMI-Rochester PDD at http://www.pmirochester.org and you can learn more about Maria at http://www.bevilledge.com/maria or connect with her via LinkedIn.
Ezra Charles talks with Craig about writing songs, arranging music and knowing that the shower is the best place to think about horns. While Craig can't sing or play any instrument, he does appreciate an entertainer when he sees one, which is why he gets Ezra to play some piano and talk about his life as inventor and musician! Included in this podcast is the great song "88 Answers". Ezra Charles and the Works can be found at http://www.ezracharles.com. Join him on facebook too!
