On this week's show we asked three different AI LLMs “What is the best home theater projector for less than $5000?”. And we sort of got an answer. We also read your emails and look at the week's news. News: Streamers doing a better job of winning back departed viewers Fox execs give new details regarding forthcoming streamer SiriusXM Slashes Jobs Again as Satellite Focus Sharpens Amid Subscriber Woes Other: NAB Petitions FCC to Shut Down ATSC 1.0 - The End of OTA TV? JMGO JMGO N1S Ultimate Can AI Help Pick Your Next Projector? We asked three different AI LLMs “What is the best home theater projector for less than $5000?”. And we sort of got an answer. Chat GPT When looking for the best home theater projector under $5,000, several factors come into play, such as picture quality, brightness, resolution, and features like smart capabilities. As of my last knowledge update in October 2023, here are some of the top options within this budget: Epson Home Cinema 5050UB (MSRP $3000 Direct from Epson) Resolution: 4K PRO-UHD (upscaled) Brightness: 2,600 lumens Contrast Ratio: 1,000,000:1 Features: HDR support, motorized lens settings, and a wide color gamut. It provides exceptional picture quality, especially for films in dark rooms. Google Gemini It's impossible to definitively say which is the "best" projector for you without knowing your specific needs and preferences. However, I can offer some great options in the $5,000 range. To help me recommend the perfect projector for you, tell me: What size is your screen? How far away will you be sitting from the screen? What resolution do you prefer (1080p, 4K)? Do you need 3D capability? What type of content will you be watching most often (movies, gaming, sports)? Do you have any specific features you are looking for (HDR, high refresh rate)? Once I have this information, I can give you a more personalized recommendation. In the meantime, here are some popular projectors in the $5,000 range: For 4K and high brightness: Sony VPL-VW270ES (this is a discontinued model): Offers excellent image quality, high brightness, and HDR capabilities. JVC DLA-N5 ($6500!): Known for its black levels and contrast ratio, perfect for dark rooms. For budget-friendly 4K: Epson Home Cinema 5050UB (MSRP $3000 Direct from Epson): A great option for those looking for a solid 4K projector at a lower price point. For bright rooms: BenQ TK850 (this is a discontinued model): A powerful projector with high brightness and DLP technology, ideal for rooms with ambient light. I look forward to helping you find the perfect projector for your home theater! For fun I later updated my query with the following. What is the best home theater projector for less than $5000? More parameters to consider: 100” Screen size Seating will be 15 feet away I need 4K with HDR. I do not need 3D Capability I watch an even mix of TV, Movies, and Sports Gemini responded with a list of four projectors and a summary. The following is the summary: Based on your requirements, the BenQ TK850 or the Optoma UHD380X (Also unavailable) are excellent options. They offer a balance of 4K resolution, HDR support, and good brightness levels within your budget. It's recommended to read reviews and compare them to see which aligns better with your specific needs. Good luck with your projector hunt! Grok 3 Based on the available information and critical evaluation of projector options, the Epson Home Cinema LS11000 ($4000 from Projector People) stands out as the best home theater projector under $5,000. Here's why: This projector offers a compelling combination of high-end performance and features, making it ideal for creating a cinematic experience at home. It uses a laser light source, which provides consistent brightness (rated at 2,500 lumens) and a long lifespan of up to 20,000 hours, eliminating the need for frequent lamp replacements. Its 4K resolution is achieved through pixel-shifting technology, delivering sharp, detailed images that rival more expensive native 4K projectors. The LS11000 also excels in color accuracy, with excellent out-of-the-box performance, and supports HDR10, HLG, and HDR10+ for vibrant, dynamic visuals. Its high contrast ratio (up to 1,200,000:1) ensures deep blacks and excellent shadow detail, crucial for movie watching in dark environments. Additionally, the LS11000 is versatile, with features like motorized lens shift, zoom, and focus, making it easy to set up in various room configurations. It performs well in both dark home theaters and rooms with moderate ambient light, thanks to its brightness. While it lacks 3D support and built-in smart features like Wi-Fi or streaming apps, these are minor trade-offs for its price point, as you can easily add a streaming device. Compared to alternatives like the LG GRU510N, which offers higher brightness (5,000 lumens) but lower contrast and less refined color accuracy, or the Epson Home Cinema 5050UB, which is dimmer and uses a lamp instead of a laser, the LS11000 strikes the best balance of performance, value, and longevity. High-end native 4K projectors from brands like Sony or JVC, while excellent, exceed the $5,000 budget, making the LS11000 a top choice for enthusiasts seeking premium quality without breaking the bank. Keep in mind that to achieve the best results, you'll need a quality projector screen and a sound system, as the LS11000 lacks robust built-in speakers. Also, consider your room's lighting conditions—while it handles some ambient light, it performs best in a controlled, darker environment. Our Takeaway This was a fun exercise which had mixed results. In the end you have to do the work yourself and like Google Gemini says find one that fits your specific needs and preferences. In other words, AI is not taking over the world any time soon.

In Illinois, Freeport City Manager Rob Boyer recently faced down a citizen's petition to move away from the council-manager form of government and revert back to the strong mayor form. Reeling from mismanagement and economic decline, Freeport abandoned the strong mayor form of government about a decade ago. Since that time, Rob and his two predecessors have done great work to turn the community around. In this episode, we discuss many of his and their accomplishments and how the residents and taxpayers are better off today. But, a recent effort that appears to be tinged with political motivations sought to undo this progress and return Freeport back to the "old way" of doing business and rewarding political allies. Never underestimate the machinations that may take place behind the scenes when someone sees an avenue to create a full-time six figure job for themselves... City managers deserve to have a professional association that will fight for them and help communicate their narrative in an environment where the deck is usually stacked against them. In this week's episode I wanted to unpack some various advocacy efforts the American Association of Municipal Executives is currently engaged in on behalf of city managers. Not only are we engaged in direct advocacy on behalf of individuals, but we are also working to educate the public so that they have a better understanding of the perspectives and concerns city managers must weigh when determining whether to apply for a position. How often do you get to meet a sitting president? Well, last week, I did just that when I had the incredible opportunity to meet Santiago Peña, the President of Paraguay. In this episode, I'm pulling back the curtain on two major experiences from the past week—my in-person interview with Panamanian immigration officials as I work toward citizenship and an exclusive luncheon where I met President Peña. First, I'll take you inside my recent interview with Panamanian immigration officials, a key step in my citizenship process. And yes, I had to do it entirely in Spanish. Then, I'll share how I managed to slip away from Chinese New Year's celebrations with my family to attend a luncheon with the President of Paraguay, plus what I learned about the growing ties between Panama and Paraguay—two fantastic Plan-B destinations for expats. It's Ticked Off Tuesday! Jared dives into the wildest, most frustrating complaints from listeners. First up, one listener vents about mandatory attendance meetings at work—because there's nothing more infuriating than fighting LA traffic for hours only to find out the meeting has been canceled last minute. Jared breaks down why these pointless meetings are a universal workplace scourge!Next, we're heading to Thanksgiving, where a listener shares the anxiety-inducing experience of being the “new person” at their boyfriend's family dinner. With limited seating options, they were stuck choosing between balancing a plate on their lap, waiting for a dining table spot to free up, or awkwardly standing in the kitchen. Jared unpacks the unwritten rules of hosting! Finally, we hear about a workplace drama straight out of the future: a listener's new coworker accused them of using AI to write their reports because their grammar was “too perfect.” Jared hilariously breaks down why this coworker might need to calm down with the AI paranoia and why being too good at your job shouldn't lead to workplace drama.Don't miss Jared live on tour—grab your tickets at jaredfreid.com and experience his comedy in person!Remember to rate, review, subscribe, and share the pod with your friends. Send us a textThis is a sample clip from today's full show on the patreon, we start out with the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. I decided to do a deep dive on Dorit Kemsley‘s finances now, because we're all wondering, what's gonna happen if they divorce. I also addressed Teddi Mellencamp living in Kyle Richard's glam room in her house and what struck me as odd about it. I share my 2024 suggested Christmas items so far. I'm doing a few each week up until Christmas. I try not to go to long winded about them, but I enjoy telling you what I have figured out. We move on to United Health Group, Brian Thompson's shooting, and who I think the FBI should be looking at in this murder, which is obviously been done by an assassin or professional killer in my opinion. I also will tell you some ties to him and Michael Lynch and Vanguard . The Board of Directors of United Healthcare group is very interesting when you compare to the clues that have dropped. I finally tell you my take about the Mary Cosby intervention scene with her son Robert Junior regarding his drug addiction issues and I tell you why I waited. I also give you my take on what the Symbolism is of the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season five seating chart and what I think is going to happen. It's time...The PANIC BUTTON episode is here! Jeff and Joey reunite after taking off Thanksgiving week and get right into this week's Kraken Reaction which covers what went wrong over the past week, and the REAL issue plaguing this Seattle Kraken team as they get ready to embark on a serious east code road trip. Maybe Dave Hakstol wasn't to blame after all? Joey goes into his panic button rant and the Kraken may have broken Jeff Lasso after all. No Dumb Questions has OG member of the Kraken Pod Fam James Sullivan ask why in the hell Joey Daccord was sitting on a bench away from his team at San Jose where Sharkie the mascot could fuck with him mid-game. As if losing twice to the San Jose Sharks wasn't enough. In NHL News, Ovi returns to practice fresh off a broken leg rocking a track suit and Jeff breaks down the star-studded Team USA roster for the Four Nations Faceoff in February. Three Stars of the Week covers everything from the flu taking over Joey's house and canceling his Boston trip, broken water lines on Thanksgiving day, Jeff's mid-week concert date night, Paul Bissonnette aka Biz Nasty taking on six bags of douche at a Houston's in Scottsdale, Jeff getting jingled from his fantasy hockey team, Dallas for the holidays and a possible Alamo Bowl, and much more. Ending, as always, with the Chirp of the Week. 03:08 Kraken Reaction 13:28 Panic Button 39:11 No Dumb Questions Subscribe: -On All podcasting apps, rate & review on iTunes, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify! -Follow us on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram at @KrakenPod Presented by Draft Kings with new episodes every week on The Hockey Podcast Network. We kick things off with seven fascinating stories from the teshuvos of medieval Spain, where we discover shul seats being treated like real estate: bought, sold, inherited, mortgaged—and sometimes the center of heated disputes. Then, we shift our focus to Ashkenaz, where this phenomenon is noticeably absent, suggesting a very different set of attitudes and conventions about shul seats. Finally, we dive into how the poskim tackled some of these disputes, applying Halachah to their contemporary realities. Benches, Bargains, and Bickering: Shul Seating in the Middle Ages

The London Underground is one of the oldest metro systems in the world, opening in 1863. When the Central Line Railway opened in 1900, it was called the Twopenny Tube, referencing the price of a ticket. The nickname has stuck ever since!A Transport for London spokesperson has since stated that the actions in the video in question was dangerous to both passengers and the cleaners involved. They said: "Our cleaning schedule for Tube trains consists of two different levels of cleaning: pre-service cleans (daily), and a deep clean of the interior and exterior of the train around every 28 days.“All floors and surfaces are cleaned daily on every train as part of the pre-service clean. Seats are inspected and cleaned as required during this pre-service clean, with further cleaning as part of the deep clean.”There's an average of 1,864 colonies of bacteria on a single cinema seat. Comparing this to the average toilet seat, which they found around 135 colonies on average.“Obviously she mentions, the cleanliness of the seats will vary across different cinemas, seat styles and fabrics. Some of the dirtiest cinema seat they tested had around 3,000 colonies of bacteria living on it,” they continued. On the other hand, they said the cleanest cinema seat had just 80 colonies of bacteria, which is around 55 times less than the average toilet seat.

If you enjoy the podcast, I hope you'll take a moment to leave us a rating. That helps us grow our audience! Watch us on YouTube! We're starting this week's episode with some bad news about Southwest Airlines. Amid rumors and internal announcements that the airline would make some cuts, they announced pretty massive service cuts to service from Atlanta. These airports will soon no longer see service from Southwest out of Atlanta: Cleveland Fort Lauderdale Fort Myers, Florida Greenville/Spartanburg, South Carolina Jackson, Mississippi Jacksonville, Florida Louisville, Kentucky Memphis Miami Milwaukee Oklahoma City Omaha Philadelphia Richmond, Virginia Sarasota, Florida We interrupt this somber news day to talk about our friend Michael Trager's event ZorkFest. Not only is ZorkFest a great event to learn about travel AND how to play the Vegas status game, it's also where Richard and Ed first connected (no matter how much Richard says otherwise). If you want to register, we have two discount codes you can use: Code "pizzalate88" gets you $50 off a ZorkFest ticket Use code "wish" to have Trager donate $88 to Make a Wish Nevada on your behalf. And, we end the show on a sad note, talking about how Southwest's new assigned seating will work. It's about the worst of the possible scenarios we contemplated a few weeks ago.
