Coffee Talk Topic: Restoration This episode explores Restoration that can only come from the love of God in the face of life's pains that show up in so many different circumstances in our lives. Host Brandee Nielsen says "we'll talk about two of those circumstances in two powerful interviews that exemplify the power of God's promise, as told in 1 Peter 5:10. "And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast." Featured Guest No 1: Kennesha Buycks Kennesha is a first-time author of her debut book, Restoration House. This is also the name of her company, and take on the restoration that happens when we come face-to-face with our journey. "When we walk with Jesus, it's not all unicorns and roses and sunshine and rainbows. It's also really tragic sometimes too. So when I think about that example in my life, it keeps me closer to God." Featured Guest No 2: Lisa Feigel Lisa describes herself as a small town girl from Racine Wisconsin with a deep passion for helping others change their lives. She's an entrepreneur at heart who owns and operates three businesses and has raised six children. Brandee says "one of my favorite things about Lisa is the way she described herself when I read her background for our interview. She wrote "my professional experiences aren't necessarily made with a college education, or degrees or even titles. I haven't written any books. I don't have any major accomplishments as I have read about the guests on your show. But I have no doubt that my life is always in the making of a great story." Lisa shares about God restoring her life after enduring decades of spousal abuse.

Coffee Talk Topic: Making Lasting Connections with Your Kids This episode's coffee talk topic encourages parents to make lasting connections with their kids by being a Read Aloud family! Deuteronomy 6:5-10 (NIV) tells parents to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates." Featured Guest: Sarah Mackenzie Sarah Mackenzie is an author, speaker and podcast host. On the immensely popular Read-Aloud Revival podcast, Sarah helps parents all over the world make meaningful, lasting connections with their kids through books. Sara lives in the Northwest with her husband Andrew, and homeschools their six kids. Mackenzie says "I started writing the book thinking it was sort of a Manifesto on reading aloud. As soon as I started writing it I realize that that's not really what it was about. It was more of a call to connecting with our kids. While I knew that the sharing of stories with our kids is valuable, I realized the most valuable thing was connecting with our kids. I think for so many of us Christian parents, our desire is to really make a deep, heart-to-heart, lasting connections with our children. Stories are a simple and profound way to get there." Host Brandee Nielsen says, "I love how Sarah's book inspires families to get out from behind their smartphones and tablets to read together, which helps make lasting connections. I've heard it said that one of the greatest professions our youth should aspire to early is becoming a chiropractor. All the kids today walk around with their heads down staring into their phones." Coffee Talk Topic: There Is Hope This episode's coffee talk topic encourages us that no matter our situation or circumstance, there is hope! The Old Testament teaches us that hope is trust. In the New Testament, Paul says that Jesus Christ is our hope, just as the Prophet Jeremiah proclaimed that God is the hope of Israel. Featured Guest: Tina Levene Tina Levene is an author, speaker, a humorous motivator, and professional staff development trainer. Levene works with businesses, ministries, and educational institutions to create a safe, positive and high-performance culture by igniting passion and developing leadership skills. Long affiliated with the Florida Juvenile Justice System, Tina's famous and favorite quote is There Is Hope, which she impresses upon the troubled youth to realize their true worth and potential. Tina says "yes I'm an author, keynote speaker, yadda-yadda, but first and foremost I'm a faithful follower of Jesus. I'm a big fan of Jesus. I'm a Jesus freak! I jump on any opportunity to spread hope and instill hope in other people. Working in the Juvenile Justice system, I've had a lot of exposure to people struggling with hurts habits and hang-ups. It's hard to say there's hope to a young girl who may be a victim of human trafficking who's in jail, but there is. There is hope. One of the things I remember her saying to me is "Miss Tina when you come in here I know there's hope because I see you and I see you smiling. I always tell everyone There is Hope." Tina founded her Tina Talks Truth platform to encourage women and men who struggle with addiction and other life challenges, based on her healing journey from addiction. She says "the biggest contributor to addiction is a void inside of people that struggle with addictions. It may be low self-esteem or a broken down family component. There's no spiritual backbone or guardrail in that person's life. Something is missing. That's what it was for me. Something was always missing. So First I had to establish that there is a God. Then I had to establish that He loves me. He loves me no matter what. There are no conditions to how much God loves you." Jesus never wanted to be separated from people. How do you share the gospel with someone you never want to talk to, who you think is evil, and that you want to die?” ~Joe Battaglia Featured Guest: Joe Battaglia Joe Battaglia is a thought leader, author, and speaker who's a true pioneer and veteran in Christian Media. Coffee Talk Topic: Overcoming Dysfunctional Coping Skills Dysfunctional coping skills involve how we react to life's difficult challenges. We all have them, though they are more severe in some than in others. Host Brandee Nielsen says "Dysfunctional coping skills cause us to react in ways that are disproportionate with reality. These reactions can rob our joy, as well as the joy in those who are closest to us. I maintain that when believers react by bearing the fruit of the spirit during difficult situations, we come away honorable, and retain our joy in the presence of the God of peace." Featured Guest: Cole Ian Cole Ian is the founder of DID Discovering Hope. A nonprofit ministry whose purpose is to share the gospel, and offer hope and help to those who struggle with Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and, Dissociative Identity Disorder. Cole shares a powerful testimony about overcoming the dysfunctional coping skills resulting from suffering DID as a survivor of severe childhood sex-abuse. Coles says "God created our brains amazingly so that we can dissociate.  But when we've been through horrific trauma, we might have different levels of dissociation. It becomes a dysfunctional coping skill. I think if I didn't have God in the process of my journey, I don't think I would be here."
