No one has ever accused Mel Gibson of being unable to play an action hero, and HUNTING SEASON (2025) seems determined to underline that point with a thick, permanent marker. This time around, he's a quiet, off‑the‑grid dad living in a rural town where the most exciting thing should be the annual bake sale. But when his daughter stumbles upon a mysterious, half‑dead woman on their wooded property, the universe apparently decides it's time to flip the “chaos” switch to ON.IMDb sums it up with: “When a reclusive survivalist and his daughter rescue a mysterious, wounded woman from a river, they become entangled in a deadly web of violence and revenge, forcing them to confront a brutal criminal to survive.” In other words, it's your classic tale of “I just wanted to be left alone, but fate delivered a plot twist to my doorstep,” complete with danger, vengeance, and the kind of criminal you definitely don't invite to Thanksgiving.Written by Adam Hampton and directed by RJ Collins, the film stars Gibson alongside Sofia Hublitz of OZARK fame and Shelly Hennig from UNFRIENDED. Despite a limited theatrical release, the movie has earned a warm reception from both critics and audiences—proof that sometimes all you need is a grizzled hero, a perilous forest, and a dash of revenge. Your cohosts at Dark Discussions Podcast dive into Gibson's latest adventure and share their thoughts on this wilderness‑flavored thriller.

This week Evan and Dave take in the latest movie that unfolds entirely on computer screens: LIFEHACK. As they both liked UNFRIENDED, SEARCHING, and MISSING, they were down to check out this different scenario, as no one is dead or missing or a ghost. Nah, in this iteration, the four main characters are trying to pull off a massive crypto heist. But the crypto in question is owned by a slimy totally-not-Jeff-Bezos-or-Elon-Musk dude, so needless to say security is tight, and if they get caught THERE MAY BE BLOOD (to coin a phrase). Oh, and there are lots of tangents in this episode. Over on Patreon, we discuss READY OR NOT 2: HERE I COME, the sequel to...oh, just guess.
We're back with another horror movie draft and this one gets chaotic. In this episode of the Messed Up Movies Podcast, we're drafting the BEST found footage horror movies of all time. Drew Fagan, professor in the Monk School at the University of Toronto and a visiting professor at Yale University, joins host Krys Boyd to discuss why one of our largest trading partners has found itself in the crosshairs of President Trump, what tariffs and trade deals have done to shape the relationship through the years and how Canada is responding. Is War of the Worlds (2025) the worst Film ever or is it simply a soulless film about our capitalist hellscape of an existence? Ice Cube plays a surveillance psycho hacking his daughter's fridge while data-eating aliens invade Earth through Microsoft Teams. In this explosive episode of WatchSkip+, hosts Cupcake (Jose) and TheWildabeast (Mike) deliver their most divided review yet of the 2026 sci-fi thriller Mercy, starring Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson. Directed by Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Night Watch), this IMAX AI courtroom drama has critics split down the middle. Is Mercy a brilliant screenlife movie exploring artificial intelligence and the future of the justice system, or is it the worst script of 2026? Our hosts debate Chris Pratt's casting, Rebecca Ferguson's AI judge performance, the film's real-time 90-minute format, and whether this thriller succeeds as social commentary on AI technology. If you loved Missing, Searching, Unfriended, or Bekmambetov's previous screenlife films, you need to hear this heated discussion. Most Christians aren’t being persecuted with violence, they’re being persecuted with people. Unfriended. Misunderstood. Labeled. Screenshot. Canceled. In this episode, Jon Ellis breaks down what Jesus actually said about rejection and why following Him will cost you socially, but will never cost you your identity. You’ll learn why rejection is often revelation, how to stand strong when people walk away, and how the Holy Spirit empowers you to stay faithful in a culture obsessed with approval. This teaching is bold, pastoral, and prophetic, exactly what Gen Z and Millennials need to navigate the pressure of modern-day cancel culture. If you feel alone, overlooked, or unfollowed because of your faith… this episode will give you courage, clarity, and the conviction to stand with Jesus, even when it seems like you stand alone. Ever felt unfollowed, misunderstood, or quietly excluded because you chose to stand on Scripture? You’re not crazy, and you’re not alone. Jesus warned His followers that cultural rejection would come, and He taught us how to stand firm when the pressure hits. In this bold and pastoral episode, Jon Ellis equips you with clarity, courage, and practical steps to stay faithful when approval fades. If you’re ready to rise above cancel culture and live Uncommon, this episode will strengthen your resolve.

Send us a textOn this week's episode of The Book Fix, Yajaira and Cheli say goodbye to spooky season with their final round of Reddit Paranormal stories. The episode starts with a hilarious tangent about Unfriended before diving into eerie tales—a woman who claims angels visit her nightly, a couple haunted by strange noises and choking sensations in their old house, and a mimic that perfectly imitates family voices. Between the chills, the hosts open up about their own creepy experiences—dissociation, sleep paralysis, and why you'll never catch them “lacking.” As always, there's plenty of laughter, chaos, and comfort in knowing they're scared together. Spooky season may be over, but The Book Fix ends it on the perfect note: terrified, laughing, and ready for a new theme next month. The Podcast Inside Your HouseWeird Horror. Max Burns guest hosts. He has a mixed bag of topics...1. NYPD says a note found on the gunman who killed 4 in a midtown Manhattan skyscraper blamed his actions on traumatic brain injuries caused by football and the inaction of the NFL, whose headquarters he sought. 2. The head of the National Security Agency (NSA) and the NSA's deputy director have been fired. The firings were described as abrupt and occurred after reports of pressure from right-wing activist Laura Loomer who had accused the officials of disloyalty. 3. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is rumored to be quitting his current post to run for office in Tennessee. 4. Immigration Czar Tom Homan gave out some very back of the napkin math on the people his goon squads are rounding up and disappearing from the country. 5. Trump told reporters he had a falling out with Jeffrey Epstein over underage spa workers at Mar a Lago being recruited into his sexual predator enterprise. Then, Max speaks with Elaine Godfrey who is a staff writer at The Atlantic. She covers national politics. Her latest reporting documents the kind of leadership, issue-advocacy and grit the modern Democratic party needs to survive the Second Age of Donald Trump – as typified by Texan Jasmine Crockett. Next, he interviews Zoë Towns who is the Executive Director at Forward Dot U-S, where she launched the criminal justice reform portfolio in 2017 - defining its advocacy, policy, research, and philanthropic agenda. In her years since, Zoë has overseen administrative, ballot, electoral, and legislative criminal justice reform campaigns in states across the country and at the federal level. And finally, Max chats with the National Affairs correspondent for The Nation - John Nichols about current news and all things in Trumpland. Shelley Hennig (Obliterated, Teen Wolf) joins us this week to share her unique experience in this industry: how a distraction during a tragic family loss led to her winning Miss Teen USA, and eventually landing a recurring role on Teen Wolf. Shelley is candid about her experience on different projects throughout her career, from her fear of excepting Teen Wolf to the fulfillment of living in a real simulated haunted house while filming Unfriended. We also talk about a very hands on experience with an intimacy coordinator, traveling the world with Trump as your boss, and uncomfortable expectations after the loss of her brother.
