Episode Notes Ep.020 - Episode Notes: This interview was recorded on February 25, 2021. Mr. Morgan is an EKU 2009 graduate, completing his BBA degree with a major in Accounting. He has worked as an Accountant at both UK and Perdue Universities and now works as a Finance and Investments Analyst for the Lexington Fayette County Urban Government. Dale is also a graduate of Henry Clay High School and LCC, both in Lexington, KY. He joins us for a 5Q session in celebration of Black History Month as our Executive Speaker. Mr. Dale Morgan has been appointed to the Eastern Kentucky University, School of Business Advisory Council where he will serve as a resource of guidance and support to the School of Business. In his free time, Dale enjoys working with young people and giving back to his community. He began Foundation47 as a life-development, leadership organization focused on improving the lives of under-served and under-represented youth. Ep.018 - Episode Notes:This interview was recorded on February 18, 2020.Alvin E. Miller, a native of Fort Pierce, Florida, earned a Bachelor's degree in 1981 (Sociology) from EKU. Miller arrived as a "walk-on" for the football team and soon proved his value to the team earning a football scholarship. He quickly began to “sink his cleats" into the history of a winning legacy under Coach Roy Kidd in a program that went on to become a football dynasty. In 1979, the EKU Football Team won its first national championship (NCAA I-AA). Miller was selected by ABC Television and Chevrolet as Most Valuable Player (MVP) in both the semi-final as well as the championship games.Along with his football accomplishments came other life-changing EKU student experiences. Miller joined the ROTC program and also became a member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity. When he received his degree in 1981, he became the first family member of five generations to graduate from college. Upon graduation, he received his commission as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army. Miller has received numerous awards and honors during his distinguished career. Among his many awards are the US Army Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Medal, as well as Who's Who Among America's Teachers, and Outstanding Young Men of America. Most recently, he was awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the EKU International Alumni Association. Having served as a Chaplain, attaining the rank of Colonel in the US Army, and earning his Doctor of Ministry degree in 1999 from Oral Roberts University, Reverend Dr. Miller is currently the pastor of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Clarksville, Tennessee. Reverend Miller is married to his lovely wife, the former Dominique Haywood. They reside in Nashville and have five children and two grandchildren.
Ep.017 - Episode Notes:This interview was recorded before the semester break on December 5, 2019.Ross Lingenfelder is in his 11th year as the Player Development/Recruiting Coordinator for the PGA Golf Management program at Eastern. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Professional Golf Management from Methodist College in Fayetteville, NC and a M.S. in Exercise and Sport Science from Eastern Kentucky University. Ross is a Certified PGA Professional in Player Development and a member of the KPGA Education Committee. Ross is married to his wife, Karis, who is a third grade teacher and they have one son, Jack who is two years old. Ross enjoys playing golf, watching sporting events, and spending time with family.
Ep.016 - Episode Notes: This interview was recorded before the semester break on Nov 26, 2019.Dr. Wilson is an assistant professor of Corporate Communications & Technology in the Department of Management, Marketing, and International Business in the EKU School of Business. She holds degrees from the University of Kentucky (Business Management), Eastern Kentucky University (Business Administration), and Louisiana Tech University (Computer Information Systems, Management, & Quantitative Analysis). She lives in Richmond with her amazing husband Joe, an awesome bonus son, Justin, and three dogs—Bailey, Waylon, and Raffi. In her time off, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, golfing, coordinating the ladies’ golf league at Madison Country Club, cheering her favorite teams, traveling, cooking, exercising, and thoroughbred racing.
Ep.015 - Episode Notes: Dr. J. Gregory Gillum was interviewed on November 22, 2109. He is a Ky native, keynote speaker, author, and acclaimed entrepreneur business coach. Greg is CEO of the humanfusion group of companies. As the lead executive coach and trainer, he specializes in leadership development applications, business performance coaching, emotional intelligence, and guiding transformational change in individuals and organizations. A frequent keynote speaker in the areas of human performance and potential, Greg spent six years on the faculty of the Medical College of Virginia, and eight years in marketing and senior management with GlaxoSmithKline. He earned his doctorate from the University of Kentucky and his professional coaching credentials from the Coaches Training Institute in San Rafael California. He lives with his wife and two children on a farm in the rolling hills of Central Kentucky. Ep.013 - Episode Notes: Jonathan Reynolds was interviewed on December 4, 2019. He is a first generation college student, majoring in CIS. He is graduating with his Bachelors in Business Administration in Dec 2019. Jonathan grew up in Grant County and now lives in Powell County. He is the oldest of a mixed family with 3 sisters and 3 brothers. He currently works on campus as a student Worker in the Office of Student Life and First Year Experience. He also works summers for the EKU Upward Bound Students program, working with 10/11/12th grade high school students. Each Upward Bound session lasts 6 weeks and allows high school students from all over Kentucky to come to the EKU campus and become immersed in a university living and learning environment. Ep.010 - Episode Notes Dr. Tom Erekson was interviewed November 18, 2019. Thomas L. Erekson is Dean of the College of Business and Technology at Eastern Kentucky University, a position he has held since August 1, 2014. Before coming to EKU he served as a Dean at Western Illinois University, a School Director at Brigham Young University, a Dean at Bowling Green State University, and he has held faculty and administrative positions at the University of Maryland, the University of Illinois, the University of Wyoming, and Northern Illinois University. He earned his doctorate and his master’s from the University of Illinois and his bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University. Dr. Erekson has published more than 60 articles, three books, and has presented more than 100 papers at national/international conferences. He has a strong record in securing grants, including providing leadership for a $10 million grant from the National Science Foundation in 2004 to establish the National Center for Engineering and Technology Education (NCETE). He has served on the boards for several professional societies, and he has served as a consultant to the U. S. Department of Education, the Navajo Nation, BoysTown, major corporations, and several school districts, colleges and universities. Dale is on campus today as the MMIB Department Distinguished Alum, speaking to faculty, staff, and students. Andy is President and COO of Traditional Bank. Founded in Mt. Sterling Kentucky in 1902, Traditional Bank remains an independent, locally-owned bank with 245 employees in its six-county service area. Ep.004 - Episode Notes Dr. Al Patrick was interviewed on November 8, 2019. Following graduation from Honaker High School in Russell County and from Bluefield College, Dr. Patrick earned his bachelor and master’s degrees at Virginia Tech and a doctorate at the University of Tennessee. He taught at Virginia High School in Bristol, at Longwood College in Farmville, Virginia, at Northeast Louisiana State University in Monroe, and at UT in Knoxville. Over a span of 33 years, he served as professor, department chair, MBA program director, and dean in the College of Business at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond; he retired from EKU in 1998. He enjoys reading, writing, traveling, gardening, crossword puzzles, and backpacking. Alfred has hiked the entire Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine, the John Muir Trail in California, and other trails. He and his wife, Peggy, live in Richmond, Kentucky.
